Who will die by season's end?

I've checked the list of polls, and found a "Who do you want to die?", but not a "Who will (the writers) have die by the end of season one?

I'm thinking:

Jack - boring and let's face it, if he dies, no one is safe. We can live without a surgeon (if he acctually is one) because loss of blood during surgery would most likely kill anyone who acctually needed surgery. People with military background might know enough for simple procedures also.

Sayid - Has no girl, few useful skills now that he's got no electronics to work with and knows too much.

Kate - No one is expecting it.


Who won't die out of our leads:

Locke - Ethan had me worried he was Locke's replacement for the food issue, but now he's evil, so we still need Locke for food. Besides, he's way too much fun to kill.

Sawyer - Waste of a good underdeveloped character.

Hurly - More importaint than everyone thinks, I suspect. Also has brains and thinks practically. Not really a main yet anyway.

Sun & Jin- Not mains. Too useful plotwise.

The way I took it when they said "one major character and several minor characters would die" is that 1 of the 14 would die and several background characters would die i.e. the Marshall and Joanna. So I think that when they say "Main" it could be anyone of the 14 not just the ones that have had the most air time.

I rather lean towards Sayid being the one that the writer's do away with; he is a major character that the audience has connected with, yet his death wouldn't lose a large portion of the said viewing audience.

Sawyer is another possibility; I did see another poster posit that he might sacrifice himself for others in his quest for acceptance/redemption. That sort of rang true for me.

what about charlie, in todays episode... ya know.. he did die... for a period of time... he WAS DEAD... could that be what they mean...?

If that's not it, I betcha it'll be Boone. I really, really hope it isn't Claire.

My best guess is Claire, but who really knows with this show?
I don't think that Charlie's momentary death actually counts as a main character death.

It's not gonna be Charlie. The writers' said it themselves, they are not even planning on killing him off. And I dot' think his momentary death counted as one either. If anyone I say it'll be Sawyer....or Jack..Or Kate..Just because I hate all of them.

At first I thought Claire, but I don't think they'd just...kill her off after the whole Charlie-in-the-tree incident...

Michael will be the one to get it because he always wears a red shirt and his kid to going to be way more important to future developments than he is. Michael is expendable.

Alas, if only that were so. But they've said someone will, and I trust 'em. Sort of.

The way I see it, Jack and Kate are safe because they are the main selling points of the show. Locke, Sayid, and Charlie are also safe cuz they all know something important about the island and the others that needs to be revealed. Claire is tricky. The baby plotline and the prophetic 'savior-like' foreshadowing surrounding it seems way to important to be dispensed with. However, the others DO have her, so, who knows.

That leaves mainly Boone,Shannon, Jin, Sun, Hurley, Michael, Walt, and Sawyer.

Of the lot of them, Sawyer has the biggest role, and so the emotional impact of him dying would probably be the greatest. On the other hand, he has the biggest role of the lot of them, AND he kissed Kate, so he's pretty safe. Shannon, Jin, Sun, and Michael haven't had much to do lately, and so they seem safe simply because of their insignificance at the moment. If Walt died, the emotional impact would be huge, more so than Hurley or Boone, I think. (please don't hurt me, Boone and Hurley fans) But both the latter two have been active, Boone more so than Hurley, so they both could be on the chopping block. So, I think it's either Walt, Hurley, or Boone who'll get it.

since when does sawyer have the biggest role? i mean, it would be bad or whatever for him to die, but i don't think it would affect the show's audience as much as the death of say, charlie or claire would..but hey maybe you're right..i dunno

The only people we can officially rule out would be 1. Charlie. Dom has too big of a fanbase like it or not. 2. Walt. Being a kid, and being that lost airs in the 8 o'clock family hour, they would be insane to kill him off.

Small possibility of being killed off: 1. Sun. The writers love the actress who plays her. 2. Hurley. The writers love Jorge Garcia. Jack, Kate, and Locke could also be in this category. They are muched loved, but could be killed off for shock value.

Sawyer could be killed, but, i agree, some people don't really like Sawyer. he creates tension; the show needs that tension. His trouble-making ways creates drama.

High possibility for minor character deaths: Jin, Michael, Shannon, Boone, and everyone else...Aside from Michael because he is a father and has something going with Sun, who would care that much about their deaths?

Claire is way too obvious. Sayid seems most likely right now. He is not really a minor character, he gets a lot of screen time, and he knows a lot of information about the island.

I would say either Locke or Shannon will be the ones that will die and I would not be suprised if they think they were killed off and end up not being dead - wouldn't that be a fun plot twist!?

I think maybe Sayid, for the above reason about not loosing too many viewers through it.

I think it might be Shannon. She keeps saying she was told she is worthless. She might do something brave to prove she is not worthless and sacrifice herself for another.

I know.....Claire could die in the middle of delivering the baby and then Charlie will have to take care of it......Vut.....I don't want anyone to die.......maybe Ethan.......but ya.....

i think it will definitely be boone, and it will be at the hands of sayid, shannon, or locke.

boone is being really self-destructive lately.

I think it'll be Michael. My reasons are
1. Not really a driving force in any plotline.
2. Doesn't really have a fan base comprared to some of the other characters.
3. Maybe most importantly, his death will most likely have a *huge* emotional impact on Walt despite their short relashionship, and if walt gets upset/angry/irrational, *alot* of intresting stuff might happen, I wouldn't want to be around him if that happens.

If not Michael, then Jin will bite the dust, since that wouldn't really take away a main character, rather give us a new one, as niether jin nor sun are really part of the plot as of yet. Jin's death would allow the writers to use sun to her full potential.

I'd like to see Jin kill Michael, and then Walt will make something happen to Jin, like a fatal accident or something

It will not be
Hurley because; his potential as a main character hasn't been used a fraction of what it could have been. Still has alot to offer . Looking forward to a flashback of his.

Sayid because; too well liked and interesting character with alot of knowhow which the writers will have to use again.
Also has the thing with shannon, which will probably be developed further, sparing the both of them.

Sawyer, Jack or Kate because; of the love thingie, and because sawyer is far to valuable as a disturbing force, and a counterweight to jack. The three-way interaction between them combined with the fact that they're all main-main-characters will keep them alive.
