As it becomes clearer and clearer that Michelle Rodriguez single handedly saved this show after its disasterous 2nd season start, you MR haters will have to eat very large amounts of crow. Come over to the light while there's still time. I understand crow feathers are very bad for the stomach lining. Save yourself while you still may.

Ok I admit, I thought it was a given she was going to be a cop. I still think her character has deeper issues than any character I've seen her play. I like her, but I wouldn't want her around my loved ones.

I don't hate Michelle Rodriguez, not at all. I hate her character, Ana-Lucia. I don't think there's many people that hate the actress, just the character she plays.

I'm not sure she's saving or ruining it. She's just a character. It's that simple. One character out of the entire cast.

LostiHEyes, I think there are a lot of people who feel that Michelle Rodriguez is rather a poor actor and has yet to demonstrate much depth.

I can only judge based on what I have seen, and I have no real opinion on MR herself. I don't like her character as it is written, and the actress who plays her didn't convince me she was a sympathetic soul during her crying scene. I want to like MR, and the character she plays...but I'm not there yet.
So my answer right now is still... NO

Sorry, I really doubt that Ana Lucia is saving the show. From what I've seen people in general have been very dissapointed by this season of Lost. Season 1 was great. Season 2 has been far too focused on Ana Lucia. In Season 1 it was much more spread out. I think that's one of the major reasons I hate Ana Lucia. The whole show has become a focus on her.

I dont hate AL at all. However she should never hold a weapon. I am miffed at the show's organization which includes AL's killing of Shannon. From a plot perspective the killing was just dumb. :dunce:
The concept of eating crow though is a little extreme. :tier49: :vomit:

So far Ana has been a boring character. Sneer, punch Sawyer, sneer again, wave a gun around, sneer yet again... rinse and repeat. Boring.

I have been watching bits and pieces of LOST, since Season 2 began. But it was MR's superb performances in both "The Other 48 Days" and "Collision" that finally won me over to the show. I never realized that she was such a good actress until I saw her on LOST.

Hmm..... You know, I think that part of the peeve many have is that in order to introduce Ana Lucía as a major character way too much screen time has been devoted to her, almost to the exclusion of anyone else - tailies included. I'd rather TPTB had taken longer to reveal what we saw in "The other 48 days" and in "Collission."

If shannon or Sawyer has been given so much airtime early in season 1, they would have gotten as a bad a reaction.
Perhaps the real reason why Ana-Lucia has dominated much of Season 2 is because she is a powerful character being portrayed by an actress with an immense screen presence.

With apologies to Fish, Hodge, and guylikeu, I'm afraid that claiming that MR's has "immense screen presence" is well... a bit too much.
I agree that she's hot - yes, I can appreciate that completely. But the constant sneer is not only not atractive IMO, it doesn't allow MR to show much range as an actress. As far as the character itself, I'm waiting to be shown more depth by the writers - so far, I find Ana Lucía rather one dimensional myself.

I think she was in the water, saved the kid and helped Bernard out of the tree... that whole sequence... She was really good. Couldn't take my eyes off the screen.
She definitly had presence then, for sure

Sorry for the brief threadjack, but I'm afraid of doing an analysis for Sawyer... he's so complex, it would take forever and I still might get something wrong. Besides, the majority of people like him. It's a lot more rewarding when you do it for a more disliked character.
As for Jack... heh... heh heh... I might be a little too... biased... to try to analyze Jack... *coughseeforumsignaturecough*
I'm tempted to do Charlie next actually... though that could possibly get me into trouble with the S.T.U.D.F.E.E. folks. :innocent:

Okay,I've been dealing with shopping hassles so maybe I'm a little grumpy.
Still ,in all honesty a nice respectful thread to just discuss a character in depth is a very appealing idea.

There's a differnce there URN4. The members of S.T.U.D.F.E.E. aren't anywhere near as vocal as the MR/AL haters are. We're much more subtle. Besides, you won't find the word "Hate" anywhere in our creedo. ;)
By our very definition, it isn't the character that we go after as much as it's his fans. If anyone needs help with that, I ask that you read my sig. It's the fans, not the character. Well, OK, admittedly sometimes it is the character.
I'd love to read a Charlie analysis if you're so willing to do so URN4! The one you've done for Ana-Lucia was great IMO.
