I thought it was very interesting the conversation between Michael and Locke regarding the inputting of the numbers. Locke explains very plainly, and with a certain pat-on-the-back smile, how he's organized the inputting of the numbers. I think it was seventeen shifts of two for all the survivors. I maybe wrong, I'm sure someone will correct the exact dialong, but that's not the point. Michael's response was, 'and you don't want to know why you're inputting the numbers?' Locke looked a little put off by the question. 'No, you just input the numbers.'
Then Michael starts tinkering around the computer equipment. At the same time, Locke and Eko start looking at the complete Orientation video. I knew then, Micheal was going to find something. I didn't know until the "Hello!", it was going to be Walt.

Yes,in the hatch scenes of the Kate episode, It does looks like Mike is officially a member of the "Science" camp.... Noting the "Blast Doors", and Skeptical about the whole button pushing thing Unlike Locke, and I would assume Mr. Ecko....
It's not surprising that Mike was not present ( invited? ) for the repliced Hanso film, with it's new infomation , so his "forbidden" computer communication with someone who may or may not be "Walt" may prove to lead to another "incident", whatever that is....

More than likely the science people will stumble across things and make mistakes. But the nature of science is to succeed and fail through the act of doing. So I say, let 'em tinker. Cant be any worse than obsessing over a temple of a hatch. What did Eko say? Josiah wanted to clean the idols out of the temple. In island terms, what is the temple and what are the idols? And where does science fit in? Both science and faith have their strengths, but their mutual weakness is mistrust of the other. As for me, I look at the proponents specifically. I dont trust the Dharma Initiative at all. And Mr. Locke, he just scares me sometimes. Let's see what Mr. Eko will do on the faith side. So far he has successfully headed off an armed assault on AL. That's a good thing. Will Michael have company as the ambassador for science? Sayid is a likely candidate. Jack. Libby. And if anyone ever talks about the havid Walt and the vision of the horse, what will this add to the debate? Ideally the best of both will merge into goals for the common good, meaning survival, rescuing Walt, defending the camp. But when talk returns concerning leaving the island, or finding the absolute truth about the island, let's see if cooperation lasts.

Or man of faith?....
Remember 'Special'? Michael talked about taking control of his and Walt's destiny by building the raft. Just thought I'd throw that into the mix.

I think that Michael may actually be approaching the other side of outlooks towards the island. At first, he seems like a man of faith, like Locke and Mr. Eko (IMO), he doesn't need to see anything, he already believes from influence of current events on the island.
But could he be a man of science? That is a probable theory with his recent on-line chat with Walt.
Could it be possible with this chat that he switches sides and becomes more scientific and become Jack jr.??? Or will he stay on his side of faith and believe truly that this is Walt???
My opinion: I think he will become a man of faith based on his reaction to the reply of "Dad?" and his true belief that Walt is still out there and he will find him. He knows that he and Walt will reunite somehow, he just has to find him somehow. But, by Walt being near a computer, does that mean that Walt is at another of the Dharma "forts" and really is responding? Or is it a Dharma experiment testing Michael's beliefs and faith to see if he will truly go after Walt?
I truly hope that these questionable questions get answered soon!

It was his idea to build the water filtration system. His idea to build the raft. He saw to it Jack's cave-in was stable enough to dig. And, as I mentioned in my first post, decided to fiddle witht the computer equipment.
But you do raise a valid point MG! It would take a man of faith to believe his son was on the other end of that terminal. It's going to take a man of faith, to form a posse for that search. Going against the obvious flack he's going to get from the naysayers. This is definitely going to be bolstered by members of this posse, Locke and Eko.

Exactly as what I was trying to get across! He could be a man of science, but I truly believe he is more, now than ever, a man of faith. And now with his addition on the "Faith" train, there is going to be some dust storms going on at the 815 campsite.
