View Full Version : If they replaced MR who would you choose?
I'm not holding my breath that they will,but if they did have to replace her who do you think would be the best replacement?
So many people have such strong feelings for and against this character I was wondering if you would feel the same way with another actress in the role.
I'm curious to see who the fans would pick even if it's someone unknown that's had little screen time.

NO ONE! Either keep the character or ditch her. Replacing with another actress would just completely destroy the experience. It would require an extreme suspension of disbelief. So much of one - I'm not sure that I would be mentally capable of accomplishing.

I agree with redshirt recasting her would be to big of a soap opera like play. While it has happened successfully in the past recasting a pivtol carachter is almost always a mistake. That said , had they cast someone else orginally I would have liked to have seen a relativily unknown actress. TPTB seemed to do pretty well casting those in season 1.

nice idea, but i really hate it when a character is recast, its just so dumb, a character should never change faces, but yeah, a little pouty face / sneer mask and no one would probly notice.
again, best if she dies, she can even fall on a grenade and save somebody for all i care she can be a hero and all her fans can fawn over her, i will promise to say NOTHING :D
How about some real eye candy. If they still want to stick with a poor actress then just go with Jessica Alba. Possibly change the wardrobe for the character as well. Some sort of bikini line of islandwear perhaps.
They may not replace her as the AnaL character but someone but who will be the more "savage" leader. Female so they can retain thier Jack,Sawyer, Kate thing.

What if they bring Julie Bowen/Sarah to the island somehow? Though she's on Boston Legal now that woudln't work I guess. I think anyone but MR would be an improvement.

That explains a lot. Most of the rest of us have been watching since Episode #1, and we've become really invested in the show, overall, and in the characters we've gotten to know. Love them or hate them, and many (if not most) have done a bit of both, one thing the show has had going for it all along is strong acting performances. IMO, MR hasn't met that standard as far as adding nuance to her character. And as for Ana-Lucia, she's more mean-hearted, more unpleasant, less nuanced, and frankly, a whole hell of a lot less entertaining overall than any of the original characters. I might add that I'm fine with the other Tailies. Hell, I was really looking forward to their storyline and to the merging of the two groups. However, Ana Lucia as written (and as acted by MR) is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. I don't mean to offend you or anyone else when I say that. That's just the way I've reacted to the character and the actress and - even though I wish I could say otherwise - I don't think that's going to change in the future.
You're invested in one actress and one character, others are invested in all the characters and in the show overall. That must be tough for you, since you're seeing things through a whole different lens, so to speak.

Fish...welcome to the wonderful world of Lost! This show deserves all of the fans it can get and I'm glad MR was the one to get you to watch. She's a complex character and for people who like their television shows nice and tidy it's a bit uncomfortable for them. I like her too and can't wait to see what the character of Ana-Lucia adds to the plot.
Since I'm new to this forum but an old hat at others let me say that it doesn't matter when you started watching or what makes you watch. We all have our favorites. But there will always be those that think that they are a bigger fan than someone else and that their opinions are more important. Don't let them take away from your enjoyment of this very cool site.

Aack! I did not mean to imply that the opinions of people who'd watched from the beginning were somehow "more important". If anyone took that from my post, I apologize. I was only trying to point out that perspectives can be "different", and that Fish may well be frustrated by that at the moment.

I hate it whenever on soap operas or on any program they continue, but replace with a new actress/actor. Especially, the Batman movies (excluding Batman Begins), don't get me started on that! OOOO man....... I just can't stand it! If they do remove Michelle Rodriguez from the show, then remove her character completely! That is my personal opinion!

Generally as a rule, the producers will only replace the actor/actress if it is absolutely necessary to keep the character in the show. If its not necessary to keep that character, then the writers find some way to write the character out of the show.
