Afternoon, Jeannie :)
I think it was very intentional. You know, what with after being in the presence of Smokey (which is very shadow like) and in the valley (the area of the jungle) where Yemi and the guy with the gold tooth were...
I think it was just because Smokey was there... It was somthing dealing with that.
Btw, which I still can't get over. I really cant. Just the camera panning out to Eko's face, circling in on him... It was amazing. They did such an amazing episode last night, and Adewale was superb.
I was reading through the episode thread here, and some people were bashing Eko for being a bad person, and I was offended! Haha. Isn't that pathetic :p

Hey all!
Yal seem to be covering the Bible verse pretty well - great job yal!
Just wanted to mention a couple of things here
The last segment of REVELATIONS set up the new ep SO well. The reedit of Michael Giacchino's score with the reedited scenes.....from when Eko said "Ana Lucia made a mistake" and the music started, I was choken em back. Seein Sayid carrying Shannon, and the look that Jack and Ana exchanged - so much more profound with that score set to it.
And I think the line from last night that stuck with me the most was when Eko put on the cross and replied "Yes, I am a priest".
Just INCREDIBLE acting by Adawale. And such a powerful moment in the story of Eko too. Yeah, I was chokin em back when he was mourning Yemi too. Such POWER.
I can't WAIT to go home and rewatch it and cap the HELL out of the MINDSCANNER. :D
Peace,
Truff

Hi ILE!
I completely agree - Adewale did an amazing job last night. I saw some of those comments. I don't get what they are thinking. But then, I don't get the folks who thought last night's episode was lousy either. Oh well, to each his own.
I agree that the shadow and valley thing fit so well with Smokey, but what got me was that that line was where Charlie joined in, and he said it the same way that Eko did. And I've never heard it said that way before. Oh well, it definitely worked!

I also googled 23rd Psalm King James Version, and the first 3 sites I checked also show it as Valley of the Shadow. So I don't know where the Shadow of the Valley thing Eko (and Charlie) said last night came from. My son mentioned it sounded wrong, and I told him it must be a Catholic version. Guess I'll have to tell him that's not true either!
I was raised Baptist (now recovering) and we always said "valley of the shadow".
Powerful story last night. I am impressed with the development of Eko as a character. Adewale IS amazing, in a cast full of standout actors he and Terry O'Quinn are my rivals for top billing. And Truf, you're right about that last line. I too choked back a few!
I am disappointed by the fact that Charlie went through the prayer with Eko, yet still returns to his stash of virgins (insert joke here...) It is true to his character, he is a weak man.

You know what I loved about when Eko was crying over Yemi's body?
The drool. As gross as that sounds, it was real. It was a real, raw cry. We're not pretty when we cry, the drool just made everything seem so real. It was such a strong performance.
I teared up when he cried.
Granted I'm like that a lot with tv shows I invest in, but we were just learning about Eko. Adewale is really amazing. I wish I could meet him. Write him a letter to tell him how spectacular I think he is. He really has an amazing skill.

My impression the "friend" was going to keep the money himself. He saved Eko's life two ways, he "pushed" him out of the drug trade and (2) forced him to assume his brothers identity as a priest to escape arrest. And as VDM would say, both reasons appear evil, but in reality were good.

raider, my thought was that Mr. Gold Tooth was furious that Yemi had informed the military on them. He took Yemi's body, then left Eko to deal with the military... not realizing that the military men would believe that Eko really was the priest.

Well, if you google "Shadow of the Valley of Death" you find that it was the name of a Marilyn Manson CD.
Maybe one of the writers is a Marilyn Manson fan and did it for a joke. ;)
Anything's possible. Though, when I think about it, with the original Hebrew translating into "dark valley", it's an embellishment of that when it's read as "valley of the shadow of death" or "shadow of the valley of death"...either way works I think. Though you could also say that the black smoke is the shadow of the "valley of death."
Hey, how much of a difference does it make that he recited the King James version?
The nuns would have hit me if they caught me with KJV, let alone reading from "the unofficial translation." But I may have been wrong earlier, it may not have been KJV either. Hmm...
I have to rewatch the drug deal scene when I get home and listen to the Arabic carefully. I heard people on another board commenting on hearing "Sayid" in what they said, but depending on how they said it it could have been:
Sa'id (Sayid) =our beloved Iraqi
or
Sa'id=happy
or
Sayyid=sir
or
Sayyidah=trap
I'm guessing it's more likely the third, but I'll listen in closer (Arabic-English dictionary in hand) and check it out later.
And now to end this post on a high note,

I agree with Ralf about the lieutenant stealing the drugs for himself. After all, Eko's brother did just turn them into the authorities. I wasn't sure, though, why he helped Eko put Yemi's body on the plane. That didn't make any sense to me. Maybe he thought he could get something from Eko in exchange for Yemi's body. Or maybe he had some sick sort of vengeance planned. Or maybe it was the best way the writers could come up with to have Yemi's body on the plane.
Ralf, excelleng point about the two ways that guy saved Eko's life.
My theory about why Eko was on 815: he knew the drugs were headed for L.A. and hoped to get be there when his old friend arrived. I wonder what Eko thinks of the "coincidence" of both planes crashing on the same island? He gives no indication that he thinks it odd for the plane to show up on an island in the south pacific.

I was thinking the same with the name aggie. Not only have we had different names used more than once (Shannon's Brian, Walt's Brian; Ana's Jason, Kate's Jason) but with it being an ethnic name, there are many different things it could mean and someone who doesn't recognize the language could just interpret it as the Island's Sayid.
Let us know what you find out.

Sanity, as for headed for LA... Why was he in Sydney then? If the drugs were going from Nigeria to LA, there would be no reason for the plane to be near Sydney. Nigeria is on the Western coast of Africa.
And I don't think he would have been looking for the guy with the gold tooth. I shall call him Goldie.
Anyway, I don't think he would have been looking for Goldie. Locke said 2-10 years. It doesn't take 2 years to get from Nigeria to wherever the drugs were meant to go. Especially if he knew where they were going originally.
Granted, with this show, anything is possible.

Sanity - I think when Sayid was examining the wreckage in the earlier episode, he said the plane crashed about 3 years prior. This would exclude Eko from trying to intercept the plane, unless that beechcraft had a really slow air cruising speed.

I'm not so sure Charlie can be written off as weak just yet. It may be misplaced, but I have faith in him. To be honest, I keep thinking he may have kept the statue near him more as a reminder of his faith than for the comfort of knowing the drug was there if he wanted it. I can't come up with a good explanation of why he would have gathered all the statues up together, though.
(You know, this post probably deserves to be in general discussion, but I just can't seem to drag myself out of the spin-off area any more.)

I missed or forgot about that reference to the crash being 3 years ago. He could have still been trying to track down Goldie, though. Even if he has forgotten his old life and forgiven his partners, he would want to know what happened to Yemi's body. That would be just a guess, though. Nothing to back it up.

Perhaps by a series of small hops. They might have been flying across Africa and south Asia from one small airport to another to avoid the hassles of customs. Of course, at some point, they must have set out across open water for the plane to arrive on that island by any reasonable means.

Sean,
Speaking of Amelia....
Talking about Adam and Eve (Amelia and Fred ?) has made me think again about a question that has been bugging me for some time. Please help me come up with a reasonable explanation.
This is going to be a long post. I can feel it right now.
In my mind, I have concluded that it is too much
of a coincidence for all of these (Danielle's ship, the Beechcraft,
Desmond's boat , Flight 815, and perhaps The Black Rock and Amelia's plane) to have shipwrecked/plane-crashed onto this island unless they were all wrecked by the same mechanism (what Danielle called the island's "security system"). Otherwise, you must conclude that they all ended up there because of different causes. That seems highly unlikely.
So, the question is: when did the security system come into being ?
For the sake or argument, let's say the security system was in place prior to the Dharma construction projects. That seems reasonable given the existence of The Black Rock and of "Adam and Eve".
For that statement to be true, the scenario had to play out like this:
Alvar Hanso bankrolls the Dharma Initiative to construct between 2 and
6 (maybe more) research stations on or near this island. After planning
and preparation, the first wave of transport
ships/helicopters/airplanes arrives on the island. (If it was
airplanes, then we have an as yet undiscovered landing strip somewhere
or it was removed completely.) This first wave brings all materials and
workers to construct the first station. Imagine for a second the task
of building a one or two-story building ... FIVE STORIES underground.
The amount of equipment, supplies and number of workers would be
considerable.
Now, Alvar Hanso never hears from them again, right ? What good is a security system that lets some vehicles through sometimes ?
So, what does Alvar do ? Well, he gathers up yet another team and sends them off...never to hear from them again. Then, he does that up to five
more times. That is, unless he sent all the material and supplies and
workers for all the stations, all at once. (Realistically, there had to
have been an advance team to scout out the island in the first place
for planning purposes....and they never came back. So, Alvar would not
have sent the first construction team to begin with.)
Either:
1. The Lost creators didn't think this through.
2. Alvar Hanso was in radio communication with the first crew, knew
they were OK and waiting for further supplies. (Does this imply he is
still in communication with them ?)
- OR -
3. I am all wet and I am just in need of my medication again.
IF people came and went to the island during the
Dharma construction timeframe, that means that the Black Rock was the
victim of a tsunami and not the victim of the island's security system
AND it means that the island's security system came into being
during or after the Dharma construction. (Again, number 3 above is the
most likely answer to all of this.)
IF the security system was in place before the Dharma construction, then why were all the Dharma
vehicles exempt. If they were NOT exempt, then why did Alvar Hanso
continue the construction, given all the considerable losses that they
must have sustained. So, in my mind, that implies the security system
is a construct of (or an unintended by-product of) Alvar Hanso's Dharma
projects and did not exist before the Dharma construction.
Come to think of it, I guess it's possible that Alvar Hanso could have
struck an alliance with whatever/whoever controls the security system
so that they temporarily turned it off during the Dharma construction.
Wow, that was long. Sorry.
By the way, Sean, lovin' the monkey butler...

I never thought of the possibility they made several stops on the journey either. I guess that explains it. But we still don't know WHERE it was supposed to go. That I think will be an important point, who knows when though.

Well, how old is Joop supposed to be again?? I don't know if we should assume anything from the fact that the children were being taken (life extension needs to start at a young age, before puberty hits and the pituitary gland takes over??) but I suppose it could also be possible that Alvar has switched to experimenting on children because his experiments on adults did not work the way he wanted them to.

Who is to say that every plane/boat that comes close crashes there. I am sure planes/boats/whatever carrying Hanso equipment could have come and gone, just like I am sure that if someone looked in the right spot or came for the Losties, they could do it without crashing. I just don't think the island/security system causes Everything to crash, just some things, some times......

When y'all rewatch 23rd Psalm, listen into the Arabic during the drug-dealer scene. You may hear something that sounds like Sa'id, our beloved Iraqi, but alas, it's not. I played that scene when I got back home, and the word that I'm hearing there is "yuSayyidna", or "he trapped us." It fits with the scene, but it seems odd-placing to me...almost purposely putting in a word that sounds similar to the English listener (Sa'id sounds like Sayyid unless you know what to listen for), but is completely different in reality. A false easter egg, perhaps, considering the real Sa'id easter-egg just before this in "What Kate Did."

Before I sign off, I have one more comment. All you Eko and Sawyer lovers out there need to see the light. For my money, the hottest guy on that island is Daniel Dae Kim. I never really noticed him on Angel or 24 (and I watch that show pretty religiously), but as Jin he is hot hot hot!
With that said....good night all, I have a late meeting tonight and won't be back to the computer. It is Thursday after all, there is live music at the bar! truffula, I'm looking forward to reading your manifesto in the morning.

And yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if it became a buffalo in there...the show not wanting to make it too obvious or anything for those who don't see Mr. Clucks or anything, but Charlie and buffaloes seem to be connected.

I'd kill for a four day weekend right about now. Since we are now officially in "tax season" I have to work six day weeks starting this week. And in late February and early March I usually end up working Sundays too. :(
Hopefully April will get here soon!

Just out of curiosity, what is the Catholic version? I didn't know that the KJV wasn't used by Catholics. (I, for one, like the KJV with it's Old English. I think the church should be allowed some formality.)
England became Protestant under Henry VIII. The King James Version is also called the "Authorized Version." The translation was authorized by King James of England (his mom was Mary, Queen of Scots, the one that Queen Elizabeth I had executed). Some people are still really passionate about the KJV (I prefer NKJV or NIV).
There is disagreement between Catholics and Protestants about which books make up the Bible. Catholics recognize additional books that Protestant don't (such as Esdras, Tobit, Maccabees, etc). Also, Catholics have a few additional verses in Daniel (can't remember if there are other instances) that Protestants don't.
Catholic versions usually carry the "Imprimatur" and "Nil Obstat" which I think are seals of approval from higher ups in the church. Sometimes there will be this little symbol thing on the front cover. One well known Catholic version is the Jerusalem Bible.
You'll find that the Catholic and Protestant versions of the Lord's Prayer usually differ slightly (since they were based on different translations of the Bible) and the the two groups divide the Ten Commandments up slightly differently as well.

VA, I'm having the same problems from my home computer. At work things are fine. In my case, once I get logged out I have to go clear my cookies or I can't log back in. It's a real pain!
Plus using the backdoor rather than my link in my favorites is a pain as well.
I had PM'd one of the mods last night, and he told me that others are having the problem too. Hopefully they'll fix it soon.

Some people have just showed up so I gotta be social for a few, but I thought I'd leave yal with some of my addendum notes from last night's ep to chew on til I get back.
Here ya go. See ya in a little bit.
- "Where is Charlie?" - (Eko to Claire) - note to self: don't piss off Mr. Eko, EVER.
- 25 and 29 are the two numbers shown that Locke uses to open up the arsenal
- look for the Kinks music on EMRI
- yep, drug dealer says "sayiddna" NOT "sayid"
- mindscanner has a distinct sound when in "snake" form (the sound may possibly be connected to the form)
- the clicking sounds when the camera passed thru the mindscanner was it taking pictures of Eko's mind - the thoughts he was "projecting" at the time (thus the reason why we see these things in his FBs) - this is what's going though his mind - YES, the FBs now have an explanation! :D
- when Locke saw IT in Walkabout was the same thing, Locke was scanned, he was thinking about Helen (called Kate "Helen" and took off for the boar). Guess who you think he saw in the smoke? "Something Beautiful" - his Helen.
- Things seen in the smoke: The old man Young Eko shot, Young Eko and Yemi, Eko as priest? A woman, and a Crucifix
- "Where are you?" says Mike to Compy. Then BAM "Dad?" on the screen again. They are SO being watched.
- Walt chat from bss1/Michael chat on the show: Anyone/Michael>: Are you okay? walt>: Yes. Anyone/Michael>: Are you alone? walt>: Yes. Can't talk long They're coming back soon. Anyone/Michael: Where are you? - EXACTLY LIKE BSS1!!! :D
Now here's the good part - walt's final message (and Mike DEFINITELY saw the whole thing cause he gazed at it) "You need to com...." I believe finishing this would be "You need to come and get me".
Now I notice the ">:" appears over different responses, not just for one user. For reference the following things had the >: in front of it: Are you O.K.? and walt's second Yes.
I also notice the clock is at 47:00 when Jack walks in
- Yemi somehow KNEW about the future fate of the Beachcraft, thus preventing Eko from getting on it. Too bad Yemi. Eko still ended up on the Island.
- Michael Giacchino is a GOD.
Peace,
Truff
- "Where are you?" says Mike to Compy. Then BAM "Dad?" on the screen again. They are SO being watched.
That makes so much sense! Of course they are being watched. Can't believe I didn't pick up on that.

Like many, many chat rooms. I definitley believe someone connected to the show (closer than the ad agency) has read BSS1, perhaps participated. I don't think much valid information has been diseminated thusly.
When I read the "You need to com..." my reaction was that "Walt" was telling a place and/or time to Michael. The come and get me is a given!

01-13-06, 01:15 AM
I am not convinced Michael was being watched. The first time the computer pinged (as Locke and Eko were watching the film) the timer said 51:00. Michael kept looking at his $$$ watch to keep checking the time. We saw the timer at 47:00 which is only a few minutes away from 51:00. I think Michael expected a window of opportunity during that portion of the countdown. I think it is a window in the countdown time, not clock time, as the timer periods are 1 hr. 48 mins. each, tough to set a clock by. You are free to disagree with me, it won't hurt my feelings, and you've been wrong before.
I am with you ralf, either a window of time....or.....first time, whoever is on the other end was testing to see if they could get someone to respond and Micheal responded, then the second time...Micheal typed first...he attempted keystrokes at least, which could have alerted the user on the other end to his presence.....I am not convinced Micheal is being watched either.

It was Exodus Part II when he saw the monster again. Personally, I think it could have been anything traumatic or bad about the mainland (himself getting paralyzed most likely), something to remind him of what it was like there and how much better he is on the island. I think that's why he ran the second time, and why the monster kept "pulling him back in," so to speak.

The second time...lets think about that one.
What was happening before the MINDSCANNER showed up in this sequence?
I remember Exodus was multi FB, and I honestly forget (if anyone else doesn't mind checking) but perhaps we saw the FB of Locke being helped onto the plane before this incident with IT?
I'm thinking Locke saw his accident that crippled him. And I'm one to speculate that Helen was invovled somehow, perhaps in a car with him and maybe even subsequently injured or even killed?
I don't know, but I can't WAIT to see the reason behind Locke being in a wheelchair!! :D

Since yer askin for an opinion, here ya go:
I agree that a thread should have a "cutoff point" simply for the sake of Archiving. Then the next thread could be named the same thing but part 2 or whatever.
Essentially what I'm gettin at is I agree that it's okay to lock up Agents and start a new thread just for KCSP/Snowman. I too still read the old KCSP/OWA locked thread (actually I'm about to go there to snag a quote from Vincent) and we'll still have AGENTS thread archived here for reference whenever we want.
Excellent suggestion lab!!
Now that we have our own little forum here (I almost typed borem!) it's a good idea to get things really organized while the new eps are on and the maze is kinda quiet.
Just my 2 cents.

dont you all think they should be careful not to.. distance themselves from the crowd ?
Only a couple of us FT members have been involved with this fun-ass map tptb set up as a test (cmon, who didnt suspect that?)

my point is, they may isolate themselves from an audience un-willing to look for detailed answers, some members have a hard enough time with the normal postings and theories...
and on another level
this board has isolated the TV viewing audience, we know SO much more that any normal viewer..
how TF were these tests done by tptb.

yung, I was gonna touch on that in my BIG post, but I decide not to.
I feel that the reason we don't see any kind of "confirmed officialness" to these sites is that they DIDN'T want to attract too much attention - yet.
Thus all the debate and skepticism. It's what they wanted.
The quote from Damon says it all - they were NOT gonna announce these new sites. It was up to the hardcore dedicated viewer to find it.
This is not something that the average viewer partook in. The team they put together was too small for what happened. We had them workin all kinds of crazy hours to keep the Maze flowing. They told me so.

I don't think they are targeting the average viewer for the maze. My wife loves Lost, but has no interest in the maze, speculation, theories, etc. But the maze and all of the hard-core crazies that participate in it does get one thing for them...media coverage. If they keep the show in the media spotlight, they will constantly get new viewers. If mazies talk about it at the water cooler, they will get more viewers. It is easy to get out of a routine of watching a particular show, this campaign keeps you just itching for the next new show, even if it is six weeks away.
I never said I was leaving, lab. aggie did though, lol.

Hey you guys - just poppin in - how's tricks? - I am gonna go read Truff's webmaze post... can I have a shot of cranberry & side of gingerale? - I am a little hung over. It was a very intense day - tommorow will bw as well - but on a lighter side, we decided to all wear pajamas!!!!
thanks fo r being so understanding. The show last night was phenomenal - Vincent is definitely in on things - maybe he is Peter Coyote??? (narrartor for "Lost: Revelations")
I know I was "high" but some of the narration was exactly things Vincent said. As I am MORE ABLE to post, after tommorow, I will elaborate.
luvyouguys!
Hey Ms. Carmen.....love ya! so sorry about the job. But like I said before, I am sure you will rebound, even though that doesn't help much right now.
We all still love you and are here for you!

Yung, congrats on the 2000 posts! And I like your ideas for organizing everything.
truff, I just read your post. Amazing work, and a very interesting read! You know, I never really cared whether the maze is real or not; it's been so much fun and I've learned so many things over the past few weeks. Not to mention that I've made some great new online friends here. Thanks again to all of you for welcoming me and letting me join in!
Now if I could just resolve my sign-in and log-out issues here at home, I'd be a happy camper. I've tried everything that LIW recommended - clear cookies, clear cache, reboot... and I still have to use the backdoor to come in here and I still get logged out. :(
Hey guys, back up to speed. Loved every second of epi 10. In some ways I wish there were two of me. One to be around on here and one who watched the series without ever looking anything up. I felt I knew too much... Meeting you guys though is a massive consolation.

Are we calling the black smoke by the name Smokey ? (I’m going to assume so in this message.)
OK, so Smokey is either a sentient being of some kind or is the technological extension of some sentient being that is on, under or near the island. It doesn’t matter which. Now, Smokey has some agenda that we don’t fully understand yet, but the methods of its operation are more clear after this last episode.
Smokey scans the minds of people on the island and then (somehow) manipulates events in the world to bring certain people to the island that it finds in those mindscans. For example, it found Eko in the mind of a Beechcraft survivor (Goldie, the gold-toothed guy ?) and it found Jack in Desmond’s mindscan. This is why we keep seeing familiar characters in the backgrounds of these flashbacks.
The purpose of bringing these selected people to the island is still unknown.
Do you believe it would be time well spent to construct here or on another thread a “flashback tree” ?
This would be something akin to a genealogical family tree, except that rather than being a “family tree”, this will be more like a “flashback tree”. In other words, it just might be helpful to try to trace back the flashback connections all the way back to “our very own Adam and Eve”, as Locke said. That choice of words may have been a clue that “Adam and Eve” led Smokey eventually to bringing our current cast of characters to the island.
We probably don’t have enough of the puzzle pieces to tie directly back to “Adam and Eve”, but if we have the flashback tree partially built it may make it easier to watch for clues that will fill in the blanks of the tree.
(Unfortunately, I am in the middle of a move to a new city and a new job so I don’t have as much time to spend on thinking about and pursuing Lost research projects as I would like.)

Amen to that! I feel exactly the same way. This webmaze stuff has kept me hyped throughout the hiatus. I don't think I would have been nearly as excited about the return of new episodes without it. In previous years I've always watched my other shows (CSI, etc.) in reruns, but the maze has been won out in the competition for my time and attention.
And by the way, people are still just coming to Lost. Some guy my husband works with only saw the first season over Christmas break when someone else at work loaned him the DVDs. He and his wife are now hooked. I sent them all the tapes of the season 2 episodes that I still had around and they are rushing to catch up.

Truff this is awesome news. I loved the Lord of th Rings and I saw a preview for Lost before it aired and I saw Dominic in the preview. Hadn't really heard much about Lost, but I tuned in to check it out. Now look at me. I'm a Lost junkie. Just think I might have missed a great show and all the mebmaze fun if I'd never seen Dominic in the preview. But most importantly I woulda missed out on meeting you, ILE, Lab, Aggie, Ralf, Bighead and all my lovely ladies in the harem. Not to mention everyone else who's names aren't popping into my head right now. Can't wait till Matter does a gig and maybe make some face to faces. Roadtrip people!!!
Keep up the great work Master Jedi of the Webmaze.

3-putt.....that is a Great theory/idea, friend. I like it!
GOOD MORNING ALL!
:DeadHorse: (beating a dead horse)
I just can't get my mind to not think that there is some kind of alien or aliens behind all of the mysteries of Lost.
The "other-worldliness" of Smokey has brought my mind back to this.
Even though Damon Lindelof said in this interview (linked below) that "There are no spaceships", I have never seen it said that "there are no aliens". Aliens do not have to travel in spaceships (I refer you to "Stargate", the movie and series).
(second article, second paragraph)
http://www.scifi.com/sfw/issue406/news.html
(Has anyone else seen a quote from a producer saying "no aliens" ? Please please post a link so that I can get this out of my mind.)
I may be stuck on this idea because the first episode of Lost I ever saw reminded me of a science fiction novel I read many years ago.
When "Lost" premiered last year, it immediately hit me...Kurt Vonnegutt's "Sirens of Titan".
At the end of "Sirens of Titan", readers discover
that, on Titan (one of Saturn's moons ) there is an alien who has
been waiting 200,000 years for a spare part for his grounded
spacecraft.
This alien does not have the raw materials or technology at hand to build the needed spare part, but he does have the ability to remotely influence (with his mind) the evolution and choices of humankind. And this alien is very patient.
Are the "Lost" survivors (Flight 815, Danielle, Desmond, the
"Others") all necessary to the construction of a needed "spare part" of some kind so that our patient lonely alien can return home ?

OK guys, I am sure this has been discussed to death, but I cant find it anywhere, so someone point me in the right direction please...Since Sawyer isnt his real name, and Hurley checked all the passengers on the manifest, wouldnt the name 'Sawyer' not have been there? Hurley asking him his real name could have been a cut scene. It wouldn't have really added to the show, but I could see that happening in the background of what we didn't see in that episode.

I forget who posted this:
Super--was Daniel Dae Kim on Angel as a bad guy? I have all the seasons if you know which one he was in, I didn't realize he was on that show. Saw him 24 though!
Yes, DDK was bad on Angel. He played Gavin Park, a lawyer at Wolfram & Hart. became a zombie and eventually decapitated by Gunn. He was on a total of about 12 episodes in S2 - S4. Everything you want to know about Gavin is here:
http://www.danieldaekim.org/gavin.html
Edited to add:
I forgot to mention this, did you guys see the ratings from Wednesday? Lost won both hours handily. "The 23rd Psalm" got 11.9/18. The second number means 18% of all televisions in use at the time were tuned to Lost. Not bad!

Just thought it odd that it has never been brought up, Hurley still calls him Sawyer, and you would think that with all the crap he takes from Sawyer from time to time, and all the nicknames, he would pop off and call him by his real name,or let it slip to Jack and the others that Sawyer isnt his real name

I thought about this too at one point, but I think it was implied that he changed his name legaly. Or TPTB aren't as smart as us. Which is a very good possibility.
On that thought. The more that happens with the webmaze the more I really believe that we are part of the butterfly effect. I don't think TPTB could ever have imagined the craze that Lost and the webmaze have produced. I believe as Damon said there was something in the works, but I believe because of groups such as ourselves it has become something never originally imagined. I truly believe we are part of the creative process. And when Lost finally ends I think it will go down something like this:
Credits roll, screen goes black and then ....

Just found something interesting in the general discusion. After the commercial just before Eko asks Charlie if he saw it. If you have Tivo or DVR start frame by frame at 41:03. Right between Eko's shoulder and Charlie there is a person. It then moves to the left and out of view behind Eko's shoulder. Looks like a person with dark hair. Either another "Other" hiding like Baldie in "Abandoned" or a crew who forgot to get out of the shot.

Nicely presented, Truff! You really have done an amazing amount of research with this, along with a an impressive amount of human networking. It's clear that the webmazers picked the right person to open up to, regardless of how closely they are affiliated with ABC or Lost.
I have a question about the emails you got. I don't want to know what was in them (you're right to keep that to yourself, I bet) or the addresses they came from. Can you say what mail server they came from though? Was it a free account like yahoo or gmail, or one related to the domain of one of the maze sites? Maybe even a Disney or Big Spaceship domain? That could help establish even more legitimacy. And if you don't feel comfortable giving out the domain, at least say if both emails (Doc and Walt) came from the same domain, or even the same address.
As has been said often before, the maze is fun regardless of its "realness", but of course everyone wants to know as much about it as possible.
Nice post, Truff!
I did some Google research into the "Anna Donaldson" Walt to see if there was an employee with that name at BSS. I didn't find anything, but when I tried "anna donaldson abc" I found this:
(something that has to do with graduates in 2003)
Anna Donaldson is pursuing graduate studies in Harvard. She has secured an internship with ABC Channel 5 of Boston, with the "News at Noon" and "5:00 News" programs, and has been named a Rotary Scholar.

Truff the Magic Mazer
Truff, the magic mazer lived by the sea
And frolicked in the Island mist in a land called Crapho-lee,
Little Vinnie Mad'son loved that rascal puff,
And brought him clues and steganophy and other fancy stuff. Oh,
Truff, the magic mazer lived by the sea
And frolicked in the Island mist in a land called Crapho-lee.
Truff, the magic mazer lived by the sea
And frolicked in the Island mist in a land called Crapho-lee.
Together they would travel on a raft with billowed sail
Vinnie kept a lookout, perched on Truff's giant tale,
TV king and writers would bow whene'er they came,
Mining ships would lower their flag when Truff roared out his name. Oh,
Truff, the magic mazer lived by the sea
And frolicked in the Island mist in a place called Crapho-lee
Truff, the magic mazer lived by the sea
And frolicked inthe Island mist in a place called Crapho-lee.
A mazer lives forever but not so little boys
Airplane tails and web rings make for other toys.
One grey day it happened, Vinnie Mad'son came no more
And Truff that mighty mazer, he ceased his fearless tour.
His head bent in sorrow, web trails fell like rain
Truff no longer went to play along the Lostie lane.
Without his life-long friend, Truff could not be brave,
So Truff that mighty mazer sadly slipped into the caves. Oh,
Truff the magic mazer lived by the sea
And frolicked in the Island mist in a land called Crapho-lee

:yeah:
I managed to leave early today. I get a call an hour later from an officemate saying my boss was looking for me, wanting to borrow my laptop. Luckily I left...it might be difficult to explain the "XNA4ALL" background to someone who's never even heard of Lost.

Wasn't there talk earlier today about closing that thread since it's over 3,000 posts and getting confusing? Someone suggested starting a new one just for KCSP, i.e., deleting the "Gold members" part of the title since we already have a pretty well developed OWA thread. And then I think yung posted something somewhere...

Unfortunately, I got three more calls in the process of trying to wrap up my last one... I am SO not liking my job right now...
Think when I get home (if the pager doesn't keep going off, LOL) I may just have to rewatch some of Season One... ahhhhhh, happy thoughts.

Well, I've got some good news and I've got some bad news.
First the good news - it's very likely that the Webmaze may spring into life again around or after the 25th of Jan. But just briefly.
Now the bad news - the reason why I think that about the Maze is that I just read in GD that LOST is gonna be a RERUN on Feb 1! BOOOO!! :(
Just wanted to give yal the heads up.
Peace,
Truff

HAPPY WEEKEND LAB5! (thank you) :goodvibes And everyone else, have a great one too!
Truff--isn't it great though that when our favorite show goes into rerun season, we still are entertained by it? That's my glass half-full statement on rerun season. I admit, I'm surprised, I thought February was may sweeps??

Sweeps usually start on a Sunday, I think, so it may not start until Feb. 5.
Does anyone know if Lost is showing new shows during the Olympics (Feb. 10-28)? Usually programs try not to compete with Olympic coverage on other networks, but I'm not sure what ABC is doing there.

01-14-06, 12:05 AM
I'm pretty sure that sweeps officially starts on Thursday the second. If they ran a new episode on the first, it wouldn't count towards the sweeps weeks, so they're probably saving the new ones.
And Penelope, I like your glass half full attitude! :)
ETA: You could be right about Sunday, aggie. I know it always ends on Sunday, but I thought it started on Thursday. Either way, I'm sure that Wednesday night is out. And I can't believe they wouldn't show new episodes during Sweeps, even though it is the Olympics. That would be like handing NBC the whole sweeps month!

yeah, Truff, I think that's right... read this in one of the VIP's forums over at the 'lage:
Air dates are always subject to change, but here is what I know as of today:
210 - tonight
211 - 1/18/06
212 - 1/25/06
213 - 2/08/06
214 - 2/15/06
215 - 2/22/06
216 - 3/22/06
217 - 3/29/06
218 - 4/05/06
219 - 4/26/06
220 - 5/03/06
221 - 5/10/06
222 - 5/17/06
223 - 5/24/06
ETA: Holy borkfish, a month off between 215 and 216?? Maybe something MAJOR will go down in the Webmaze then!!
Ok, I'm leaving my office now... in three, two, one... see ya later folks!

According to Nielsen Media, February sweeps is officially February 2 - March 1, 2006. Although each household only reports for a single week, it takes Nielsen an entire month to "sweep" across all 210 television markets, from East to West.

Thanks for posting those dates lisa! ;)
Can anyone else say cliffhanger at the end of Feb sweeps?
As far as I know the official episode titles and synopsis haven't been released by ABC yet for any of the sweeps episodes. So who knows what kind of crazy ass shnit we're gonna see next month?!?!? :D
Peace,
Truff
Wheres agrillo? I want to know about those caps or the "person between Charlie and Eko" he was talking about earlier. I don't see anyone. Did anybody else see it?
Lisa.....thanks for the dates!
Thanks for the bad news, Truff....hahaha.....although after 6 weeks, 1 week won't be too bad. Yep, we always got the Maze.

We'll call it "Conversations you'll never hear on Craphole Island"? Unless y'all have something better?

Where do we want it, Penelope? Id love to keep it here in our home in Spin Off Discussion, but perhaps it really belongs in General Discussion. Of course, if I do it wrong yung will move it anyway, right?
There are already threads like that in General Discussion, girls...you should either post the creative posting there in those threads, or here in the Boom Boom Room, or if your gonna start a new thread here, make sure it has something to do with a Webmaze or Spinoff in title, and contains at least some posts involving webmaze (i.e XNA and Candle songs), otherwise, yes, it may be moved or merged into Lostaways or General Discussion. I know yung has not always been happy with some of the threads created over here. Just my thoughts. Again, just advising from seeing it happen before. No offense intended! Promise! Love ya!
ETA: added a little to body of text, and also to sound a little friendlier...hehe..love ya!

I don't know you and I are both 'newer' peeps to this site. Does anyone have some insight for us? That way we'd have a 'literary' board for those creative moments we all may have...
OK, in celebration of the weekend....Swan Smoothees are on the House all night, with 2 for 1 specials on all Beer until Midnight!
Also, Chef Bighead and I just spoke on the phone.....the Chef has sent a double batch of Goodwins Roasted Choked Chicken Surprise w/ Coconut Milk Sauce...he put the Monkeys to work on some serious overtime last night and was also able to mix up a nice batch of Jerked Pulled Polar Bear....Its very tasty, make sure to try some!
(And for any not familiar with the menu, please check the first post in the Thread!)

Home at last!! Can I get an aaaaaaaamen??
I'll have some of that Black Stallion wine, Penelope. Have you tried their Merlot? It's dark, shiny and leaves a light "hay" aftertaste...
...what is Black Stallion Vineyards,,,,red wine, white wine, what?
Supermodel, just rename your thread...include something about webmaze in title, for example Webmaze fiction, songs, and things you'll never hear on Craphole Island":
Or something like that or to that effect, you know? Ralf, VeeAye, Aggie, agrillo, etc would love that thread here, so leave it, just include webmaze reference in title.
And Penelope, the other one you started is fine, you are already getting replies, it will either run itself from here on, or be merged by a mod into something else.
Either way, your both fine!
