WOW. So much to catch up on, in only 8 hours away! Oh well, NEW LOST IN THREE HOURS 4 MINUTES! RAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!

That being said, I must admit how much I love being in the Central time zone now, being able to be one of the first people to see these shows. After years of Mountain and Pacific living, watching everything tape-delayed and having to avoid internet for an afternoon so Eastern/Centralers didn't ruin a show for me.

If any of y'all are still on the West side (and I still agree, that's the Best side :D ), I promise to spoiler anything I say in here after the show for a couple of hours!

Those people in the cars on my drive home were driving slow as if it were a Tuesday or a Thursday. Don’t they know what day it is ?

Those people in the grocery were trying to tell me that they get to go first in the checkout line just because they got there first. Don’t they know what day it is ?

You show me in the constitution where it says that a nun gets the right-of-way at a four-way stop just because she got there first and she was bringing supplies to that so-called “orphanage”. DON'T THEY KNOW WHAT DAY IT IS ?!?!

OKAY - So, all my East Coast buddies are busy watching the show... I will tidy up around the hatch... Whose greenish/brown trekker hiking boots are these??? I am thinking Kate, but they could be Locke's. - ... Someone left the food cabinet open and got into our stash of Potato Chips, they are scattered everywhere. - ... tell Kate to turn off the water when she's done showering, she nearly scared the BEJESUS out of Sayid and Jack, they were under the floor and heard some weird sounds. - tell Charlie it's his turn to punch in the ole' numbers...

It'll come back around.

I also read that you were asking about the word which the 2 men did say in the presence of Eko. truff is correct as they say 'sayyidnah' which is respect word for someone. If you have questions of this, I will try to explain for you. ;)

ok, show is back on... see you!

When I heard that word (even with the second showing tonight), I heard "yuSayyidna", or "he trapped us." Isn't the term of respect Sayyidah, with no n?

Then again, I only know rudimentary fusHa 'Arabic, so you may be right.

aggie, term of nickname is 'sayyidi' or 'sayyida'. But for the respect, it is 'sayyidnah'.

Also, if he did say 'yusayidna' when then yes it would be similar with 'he trapped us'. In this case we have 'y' as for man & 'na' as for us. I will need to watch that one again because I did not hear this but it seem the more suitable one for that situation they are in.

I just tried to post this 20 minutes ago, but I couldn't get into the site! LOL.
So here is what I tried to say :D

That.
Was.
AMAZING!

The army thing. Wow.
Next week looks really good.
I'm so mad at Kate!
Loved Sawyer calling Locke "Mr. Clean." I've been waiting for that one, lol The part where Mr. Friendly said, "Light 'em up!" That was wicked.

One other thing... almost felt like a nod to us, but unless it was filmed last week and added in, I doubt it.
Locke confrontingSawyer on his name. Someone (I think raiderfan) asked me that question, then mentioned it on the boards here. The exact thing about his name and the census. Even if that wasn't for us, let's pretend it was! Haha.

Wow.

For some reason I can't get bold to go away, lmao. But anyway. Hope you all enjoyed that episode as much as I did. Might I add that hearing M.C.'s voice again gave me the creeps! :p

ETA: Got the bold away, yay! :) And edited cuz I was dumb and left a peice of an email I was gonna send in, haha.

One thing was definitely a nod to us webmazers.

Mr. Friendly said a direct quote from the Hanso site. When was that said by Hanso ?

Either (1) Mr. Friendly came to the island after the quote occurred, (2) Mr. Friendly has internet access back at his camp (or a radio), or (3) Mr. Hanso has visited the island.

Edit: I still can't get into the hanso site. WTF ?

Well, Locke didn't use "the numbers" for the armory lock combination. That would have been kind of silly since everybody there knows the numbers.

However, he did use a "differential".

The combintion was 25 29 40.

29 - 25 = 4

40 - 25 = 15

Someone questioned the existance of Geronimo Jackson, here is waht a blog had to say about it.

http://www.beggingtodiffer.com/

Also in the Podcast, writers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof mention that music from the 1970s band "Geronimo Jackson" will be appearing on the show. I did some Googling and searched the All Music Guide, but was unable to come up with a band by that name. I did, however, come up with a similarly named band, Geronimo Black. (Here's the The All Music Guide's entry for Geronimo Black (http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:epkxlfae5cqe).) I don't know for certain that this is the band that Cuse and Lindelof were referring to, but I'm guessing it is. Geronimo Black was a band founded by Mothers of Invention drummer Jimmy Carl Black after Frank Zappa broke up the Mothers. Their album was released in 1972 (two years after Mama Cass released "Make Your Own Kind of Music.") And here's the clincher: one of their songs is called "Other Man"—remember, it's an anagram of Ethan Rom. I'm betting that's the song we hear. It's just got to be. (By the way, I've been thus far unsuccessful at locating any of Geronimo Black's music. If you know how I might, please tell me.) Here's the Amazon reference for Geronimo Black (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/artist/glance/-/75178/104-0984122-1552763) if anyone's interested in splurging.

Truff will like this:
I don't need to hype it any more than I already have, but this week's official podcast (http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:epkxlfae5cqe) had one of the best behind-the-scene's segments I've heard yet. The feature include a discussion with composer Michael Giacchino about the show's musical score. I maintain that Lost is one of the most cinematically presented shows on television, and its score is a big part of that. Giacchino is responsible for much of the show's most tense and suspenseful moments. I didn't realize it, but Giacchino also did the score for Pixar's The Incredibles, a movie with a musical score that really set it apart.

Thanks, I was out re-watching the ep.

Impressions:

Mr. Friendly definitely knew/knows Ethan. I was half-expecting him to say "Who's Ethan ?", but nope.

Alex's hand was very large for a sixteen year old girl (it appeared to be that of an adult male). So, probably a misdirection.

Mr. Friendly is president of the Hanso fan club.

Jack says to Ana Lucia, "I heard you killed one of them". She says "You'll have to be more specific. They kind of all start to run together."

The "box" (you know, the "black horse" urn) makes another appearance while Hurley and Charlie are discussing their lovelife problems (on the table between them).

Mr. Clean seems to have his sights set on Sawyer as his next project ("Psychological help - 5 cents"). Sawyer had better watch out. Getting "cured" by Locke tends to be kinda fatal (just ask Boone and Shannon).

Wow. What an episode. Great ending. The Lost Army. Sounds more like a comedy.

Questions answered. Yeah. Jack and Sarah got married and she left him. Almost made an entire episode without Jack crying. I knew it was too good to be true. Anyone else hoping he found Gabriella for comfort after Sarah left him.

Hurley's gonna get some lovin.

Lost needs to extend its name to The Lost Comedy Hour. Sawyer had one liners one after the other. Jack even chipped in with a joke. And Locke when they go back to the beach, "Bye James." Classic. Sawyer had so many good lines but the best one was the first one:

(Kate throws a banana at a sleeping Sawyer)
(With a grin on his face and holding the banana) "There are nicer ways to wake people up feckles."
Anyone else's mind as far in the gutter as mine.

Great restart after the hiatis. But if the episodes keep getting better it's gonna be harder and harder to top the last one. Wait that's a good thing.

Going to catch up now.

I, too, missed the rerun of 23rd Psalm. My local affiliate pre-empted it in favor of a really bad local investigative news program. I will be firing off a nasty email to WMAR-TV later this morning.

However, it was well worth the wait to see the fusies in such fine comedic form. Especially Sawyer, he had so many great lines, from Mr. Clean to Mt. Vesuvius. From now on, I will refer to Mr. Friendly as "Zeke".

And Sayid? When did he ever make a joke? "This music is quite depressing." OK, he was being serious, but....hee!

Cutting back to Hurley and Charlie in the middle of the confrontation with Zeke was rather jarring. Could the reference to "Geronimo Jackson" (a fictitious band, it seems) have been a thinly-veiled fore-shadowing of the island's upcoming version of the Indian Wars ? "Geronimo" (the Indian side) say "this is our island" ("we were here first"), while Jackson (as in Andrew Jackson) are represented by Jack and crew.

Excerpt from page linked below:
"When Andrew Jackson became President of the United States he sought to move all Indians west of the Mississippi River. This led to the infamous "Trail of Tears," a forced march of the Cherokee Indians from the Carolinas to the Indian Territory, today's Oklahoma, which nearly destroyed the entire population."

Trying to steer the off-topic conversation in the Hanso thread here.

I think Friendly Zeke had the same amount of people with him as he had in the boat. He was certainly real, but every fire did not have a person standing next to it. It would have been very simple to rig up a way to make many more torch fires than he had people.

I concur with SAC above that Zeke has no idea who Ethan or Goodwin are/were.

The idea of the torches being a setup is interesting. Would Zeke have had time to set that all up? I can't remember if Jack & Co. stumbled upon him just standing there in the jungle, or if he found them.

Wow, Thursday, the day after LOST day, it is hard to get on the forum. I see another server upgrade in our future.

Obviously we know Danielle had a girl, right?

Maybe XNA affects more than your left arm...:nanabobo:

Seriously, yes, she had a girl. So perhaps it is not the same Alex. Perhaps she was turned into a boy by some evil trick. Perhaps Danielle is nuts. I just read Middlesex, perhaps she is a hermaphrodite; someone said they saw man hands last night. Gotta check the screencap. Or maybe there is a continuity problem with the storyline, which is possible but I think unlikely. That would be a huge error. Most likely, MSN made a mistake.

Short version of Niel and Valentine (check the BSS1 thread for details):

Someone, somehow found a DriveshaftUK page on purevolume.com, it seems to be like myspace but for bands. Their list of tour dates inlcuded a stop in Copenhagen; that entry contained a like O.E.I.L. (formerly Encelacrop and now the security division of Hanso). Valentine had a link there which led us to her myspace page. She is a journalist. On her friends list was her fiance(?) Niel Magnusson. He works at Hanso. We are following blog entries and postings of images and audio files on all three pages. Plus Renee from O.E.I.L. and Niel have sent a few emails to various members of our merry band

I think that's it in a nutshell.

Ok, dont know if this has any significance, but did any one notice the type of gun Zeke had?? Looked like an old German Luger, thy still make em to look like that, but it didnt look new to me. Also, Sawyer had the count right, I heard 7 shots, the first 2 (maybe 3) were from a rifle ( due to the echo, which usually occurs from a higher velocity round than you can get with a short barrelled handgun) the rest were a different report. And, the noise that whatever shot Sawyer made, didnt sound like a firearm, possibly a tranqulilizer gun or an old pellet gun

I am an ex Marine, so I have some experience with weapons, thats why the Luger caught my eye, you dont see a lot of those around, the originals are pretty rare, the newer ones are more popular in Eastern Europe, but you can buy a pretty convincing looking replica fairly cheap

Mentioning the guns reminded me of something.
The person who shot Sawyer... Was it just a person in a bush? Or was it a sniper?

ETA: I just realized that my thing has changed... Now I Burned The Raft! Haha. :D

SanityAmongstChaos
01-19-06, 06:43 PM
Also, Sawyer had the count right, I heard 7 shots, the first 2 (maybe 3) were from a rifle ( due to the echo, which usually occurs from a higher velocity round than you can get with a short barrelled handgun) the rest were a different report.

I agree about the number of shots. I have this strange habit of automatically counting gunshots when I hear them on TV. Don't know why I do it, but it's pretty much automatic. I counted three shots from one gun and four from another. I don't have much experience with guns, but my impression was that the last four shots were from farther away. I thought the first three were from Michael and the last four were returning fire at him.

Now, what struck me as odd is that Zeke said that Michael was safe and that he wouldn't be finding them. That suggests that a) they know where Michael is and b) they are not the ones Michael got into a gunfight with. A plausible solution to this is that there was no gunfight at all, but Zeke and friends fired off a few rounds to lure Jack's party into the ambush.

rottenralf
01-19-06, 06:45 PM
I thought it odd that Zeke knew exactly how many guns each of them had with them. It wasn't like he was guessing, he knew and knew where they had holstered them. Maybe a little remote viewing?

I've noticed the board is going flaky every time lunch hour hits in a new time zone, and recovers 20-30 minutes later (possibly after people start giving up after getting "too busy" errors). Tonight may be a very difficult time. I hope they do a database backup before 5:00pm EST, just to be on the safe side.

lab, if you're here, thanks for your help with posting (didn't want to reply to your message on the OWA thread.) I kept clicking the "insert image" button, trying to insert an image like I can in a Windows program, but I was always frustrated by the URL prompt.

Is there a time limit on photobucket? Can I host images forever or do I still need to back up to my hard drive or network? (Note to self: do not store dozens of Lost images on the office network.)

Lab
01-19-06, 09:09 PM
supermodel, it will be on photobucket FOREVER.....once you host it on photobucket, you can remove from your work computers hard drive....

as far as url, just highlight the url address on photobucket, and then on your post, click the yellow box with mountains, and paste the url from photobucket, it will show the image in your post...

does that make sense? did that help?

(off work in 20 minutes)

ETA: When I want to save them from work, i pull up photobucket, add image from forum, then go back on work computer and delete photo from computers My Pictures....hope that helps and makes sense. Love ya!

HOTT DAMN!!!! Last night's EP was AWESUM. One of the best yet, and maybe even the best of season 2 so far.

OK some things I noticed on a 1st watch.........
Twice it was said that pushing the button isn't what they think it is, Michael said it to Jack, and Zeke said it too, kinda directing it at Jack.

Jack was told TWICE to "Go home". Once by his Dad and by Zeke too. Kinda like a " go home and mind your own buisness" line by both of them.

Gunshots, I heard seven for sure and maybe eight. By the sound of them, two different rifles definately, the 1st one a higher pitched sharper report than the second.

I know I don't need to say it, but ............ALEX!!!!!! We saw her, or at least part of her. No face shot, of course.

Just a few things that really stood out on the 1st viewing. I can't wait for next week. DO IT CHARLIE!!!! I'd be gettin' WASTED on ol' Craphole.:rolleyes4

news was just in chat little while & said there is some clue s-he (?) did give that nobody yet investigate or think on... I ask for the hint & news said check at the forums (did not say which forums). Well I will try to find related things but does anyone know:

1~ if this is REAL clues & ideas... legit?
2~ base on if its real then what clue he might refer to
3~ where I put my karoke microphone... I cannot find it!

He said about the HP episode exactly 'My fav part- Michael morphing into Rousseau'

Topic came to Gabriella & her father dead & news did say exactly 'Its more important to consider that Jack is somewhat famous for "fixing" paralysis'

news also did say exactly 'Remember, the Mevlevi Order rules and smokey ain't such a bad guy.'
When he did leave, he said 'Salam malakim, my friends' & so he was gone.
Just want to put it as reminder about Mevlevi because I do remember it was a mention in here or BSS1 about the whirling dirivish.
http://www.hayatidede.org/about.htm

If I have use up the space with the dead end, please let me know! ;)

ATE: khisanth, I think intresting to how Jack keeps hearing 'go home'. Especially since he did go home to find out his wife cheated & will leave him. Now when he hears 'go home' he will probly think of that memory again as we saw.

But now I must say: NOOO! Charlie, DONT do it!!!

Have you been able to find those buildings from OWA? I looked for double pentagon shaped buildings (can't be too many in the world) on Google and can't find anything but The Pentagon in DC. My first thoughts were that the Photos were of an airline terminal somewhere, but no planes or runways in the Pics.......

Good morning, everyone. I'm in one of my rarely social moods, so I thought I'd make an appearance here. I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but perhaps there is some tea available?

Riddle me this: Why would someone kidnapped RIGHT when they were born still go by their birth name? If he did say Alex, it's probably someone else.

The kidnappers seem to watch everything on the island. There's a good chance they would have known that Rousseau named her Alex. There's no good reason to give her another name, unless they place meaning on an individual's name.

My first impression is that the Geronimo Jackson site is fan-made. There are no Disney TOS, which have been on every "official" site. Then again, maybe it's part of the Mr. Clucks crowd. Looks like about the same level of graphical expertise. Doesn't seem to have the same type of hits tracking, though. I dunno.

I was wondering that... But she was a week old when they took her. I know a week isn't very old, but I think they would have changed her name if they didn't want her to have any memory of her mother. A week is a short period of time, but remember that kids have "powers" seemingly in this show, so yeah...

Saw VM's message. I felt a little sheepish at first, since I posted in the OWA thread yesterday that I thought the manifest was wrong and maybe V was using it for filler. But it really was inaccurate, and very cool of V to send that message. Well, he should be good at crisis communication, he's had a lot of practice, his airline lost two planes! Seriously, they lost 815, they have no idea where it crashed! (BTW, has anyone tried VFD on that email? Heh, just kidding.)

I'm off to check on the BSS1 thread. Hope it doesn't take me 4 hours to read again lol.

Earl Grey, hot. It's a bit cliche perhaps, but very good.

Congrats on 400, Lisa!

I've had issues with things since the server switch, including not always getting taken to the first unread post, but sometimes it works. I'm not complaining though, since I finally (as of yesterday) can log in using the regular link from my home computer. Which means I finally am not getting logged out every ten minutes or so!

Hey, all , stopping by on "the home stretch" here at work. Glad we haven't been swamped like yesterday. Hopefully that will give us more time to work on what we have already. BSS thread is sounding that way, although OWA has been picking up a little. Anyway, back to work. 2 more hours and I will be home! SO HAPPY!

Hey Penelope.....maybe "Redemption Song" tonight, maybe?

Penelope
01-20-06, 07:55 PM
Maybe Lab5, just maybe I'll try out the song here later tonight. It'll be much later, as I am going out after work for happy hour!

YAY!!!! WEEEEEEEKEND!!!!! :D

raider - that would be our own slegde who runs Sledgeweb's extensive Timeline and other goodies that was interviewed.
I was asked to be interviewed, but I was really busy and didn't have the time.
Too bad I didn't make time.

Anyways - gonna go dig around.....

Peace,

Too bad I didn't make time. That sound familiar. I'm sure I heard you say that about an interview before (around the time the Copenhagen hit the fan, I think). Is this an old article, or do you very consistently refuse media requests for interviews?

truffula
01-20-06, 09:11 PM
Actually, I think the first reason I said no was cause one of the mods thought it was a little shady. It shortly thereafter was confirmed to be legit, but I had missed my shot.

ETA - its an older interview, about oh, mid dec were the interviews....Maria Fernandez (the writer) posted a thread in GD askin for people to interview. I was uncomfortable givin out my home phone number to someone I didn't know to be legit at the time.

D'Oh!!
Peace,
Truff

Our very own reclusive Truff, (OK, you gotta do the Betty Davis voice yourself here) "Not now dahling, I vant to be alone"

supermodel
01-20-06, 09:23 PM
raider, that was Greta Garbo, I think. Or Marlene Dietrich?

ETA: definitely Garbo. "I never said, 'I want to be alone.' I only said, 'I want to be left alone.' There is all the difference."

OK, sorry, Im not up to speed on all the older Hollywood stars, sure just go ahead and point it out so everybody can see I was wrong (sniff, sniff)
Ok, I made one mistake, please forgive me!!! LOL, thanks for pointing out who the actual quote was from, but I kinda like the Betty Davis voice!!! is it ok if I say it that way in my head? LOL

Yeah, I have no internal monologue. And that's BEFORE you add alcohol.

Hey, what can I say, I call 'em as I see 'em. Doesn't always go over well in meetings, but no one is ever left wondering what I think or how I feel. I'm not exactly a woman of mystery, I guess.
