Agrillo, yes that was what prompted me to make my commentary about him. He used to be my favorite character and now I can't stand him. And if he's sweet on Claire, that makes me sick. He's old enough to be her father. I'll happily join the Locke Haters' Club if one ever is formed. Although, these days I'm not too keen on Jack because he's so buddy buddy with Ana Lucia. I may form a club about him too.

I dont understand them keeping the heroin since it's so old and has beenin the heat, it's not active anymore. I guess we arent supposed to know that, so maybe he's keeping it in case he sends someone else up in a plane to fall and die, this way they wont be in pain. Glad to see those of you who have stopped by from the OWA thread, feel free to hang out anytime....as stated, the more we keep episode discussion and chat here in the Boom Boom Room, the less time it takes to catch up on the threads when you are away for awhile. Also, its a lot easier to look up previous posts for research when you don't have to dig through 100 pages of unrelated info. The majority of people here are great at doing that, but not all of the people moving over from OWA. Please continue to speak up every now and then to the newer posters and send them in the right directions, either General Discussion, or BBR.

New posters, You won't always get lots of chatter from the older members in the OWA thread, so if you are looking for chatter, please come over here.....We have done a pretty great job of this so far, but want to make sure we keep it up.

Pene - What really go me about Locke was when he hit Charlie. There was no need for it. But I started to think about it afterwards, why was it OK when Locke confessed to hitting Sayid over the head when they were trying to get a signal. No one made a big deal about that. But the junkie has a strange dream and its everybody hate Charlie day. Kate too. I thought she reacted rather strongly to Charlie. Especially with what we know about her. But I did like the way Jack was with him.

I agree Agrillo. The whole Sayid thing was overlooked with Locke. I used to dislike Jack for being so mean to Locke but, although I still don't really like Jack, I see some of his points. So Locke has license now to do whatever he wants on this island, it seems. That's pretty scary. He's becoming scary.

Ok, gonna play devil's advocate for a moment...

We have to assume Claire and/or Locke, Eko, Jack or someone has let people know about Charlie's addiction. And that the plane held heroin. And that Charlie had at least one Mary statue full of heroin.

Then at night, he starts a fire to get everyone away from the camp. (A fire which could have destroyed the few possessions they have.) And while they are all putting the fire out, he sneaks into camp and steals Aaron. And carries him to the water. And is talking about baptism, which in some religions (though not the Catholic) means submerging the entire body under water. Charlie's been acting weird earlier. That's scary.

The assumption I would make is that he might be about to hurt the baby. I can't blame them for acting angry towards him, and I can't really blame Locke for hitting him (even though I'm not a Locke fan.)

Hey if I'd have been Claire and that was my baby they'd have been holding me back from throttling him. Because that's what a mother's instinct would tell you to do. And frankly, in that position considering the fire and the baby stealing, I'd have walked away after Locke hit him. Maybe the next day I'd try to talk to him and find out what was going on, but at that point... I honestly would have walked away.

And once again the message comes to mind - we all have good and evil within us. It isn't black and white. Do I think Charlie meant to hurt Aaron? No. Do I think he could have hurt him without meaning to? Yes. Would I have been angry at him and walked away? Yes. Would I have sympathy for him later? Yes.

Lab - Getting to you first about your observation of Locke observing. That pose that Locke was in reminded me of Claires dream when he had the black & white stones in his eyes. I know it wasn't exact, but that is the first thing that popped into my mind.

Some time ago (last summer I think) a friend of mine made a post to Terry at the Fuselage and said something along the lines of how it was nice to see him playing a role of a good person, since she'd only seen him before in some movie she named to him where he was apparently a really nasty guy. Anyway, his reply was that he was glad she was enjoying the character, and he hoped she wouldn't be too disappointed in the future. (Paraphrasing, but the idea was that he gave her the impression that Locke was going to turn out not so nice at all. Perhaps we're seeing the beginning of that now.)

Perhaps it was a punch for each of the lies Charlie said. The island just might have plans for Aaron, and Locke knows that, and here Charlie keeps screwing it up. The statues might just be Plan B to get Charlie out of the way if he keeps interferring with the Islands plans.

I used to get the impression that Locke knew something though. Like in the first episode, I think, he would look at people in a knowing kind of way, or say things...now he just seems like...a man looking for power or something. I know he wanted to make sure Charlie didn't do heroine and hurt Aaron again, but why the sudden attitude switch? And when Claire asked to stay in the hatch with Aaron, Locke said that thing about the alarm going off, but I still think Claire would have felt safer down there. Why didn't he just let her?

Maybe Locke is trying to keep Aaron from whatever is behind the concrete wall, not Claire out of the hatch..IF Locke is in on something, and IF Locke knows more about what is on the Island than he is letting on, then MAYBE getting Aaron and the hatch together is not a good idea...we dont know what was done to Claire/Aaron while she was gone...if the Others are really trying to do things with children, maybe Walt is the red herring, they are trying to divert everyones attention away from Aaron (ala Charlie starting the fire) so that it will be easier to achieve their true purpose

The thing is, we have no idea why Locke is acting as he is. He seems like a bad guy right now, and maybe he is. But in his mind he may see himself as the good guy, and Charlie as the bad guy. He may believe completely that he is doing the right thing. Of course, Charlie sees himself as the good guy, while the other Losties are seeing him as a bad guy right now. Good/evil - it's all in the eye of the beholder, isn't it?

And OT to this, but in line with a prior discussion here, how funny is it that I just opened this thread and saw an ad for the complete collection of I Dream of Jeannie dvds? LOL.

Well, reading GD is getting increasingly frustrating. I am not sure how I ever put up with myself as a newby. ;) How can one out of every 10 posters say "did anyone notice that Libby might have been lying about getting her foot stepped on?"

anyways...regarding Locke...I think he is getting a bum wrap as well. Of course I can sympathize with Charlie's struggle, and I think he will eventually redeem himself, but after all that he did last night he deserved to be set straight. TPTB was definitely trying to forcefeed that Locke is trying to steal Claire and Aaron away from Charlie...and on many people I think that worked. But they also showed that he went out of his way to give Charlie the benifit of the doubt, and once Charlie went over the line, he set him straight. Clocking him three times might have been overboard, but we have seen these types of things before (i.e. Jin's flashback) where maybe Locke was just trying to squash the issue right then and there in the long run helping Charlie. Though that might be impossible with the damage that was done, though i could see two weekd from now, everyone being buddy buddy again.

Oh one usefull thing I gleaned from GD was the idea that maybe Locke really was trying to protect Claire and Aaron by keeping them out of the hatch. He has just got back from the meeting with Zeke remember, so perhaps he thinks the hatch is being monitored. That would also explain why he was changing the combo on the door.

I think it's possible Charlie was off base in focusing on Aaron. Didn't the psychic say the baby was in danger, Claire must raise him herself? May Aaron is in danger becasue Claire is in danger. If so, whether he's aware or not, Locke did the right thing keeping Claire close to him. And Claire's baptism is therefore equally important.

Yeah, thanks for putting me on to it agrillo with your earlier post. I really think it looks like the plane below. I got the clip to pause (because I have to download episodes to my PC) and I can definately see a twin tail, which is fairly rare I suppose.

Thanks Agrillo! I've been reading on the board all day about that clip, but this was the first time I got to see it. I replayed it quite a few times and noticed that there was a flash of light at the time that the plane would have hit the ground, and then the dove came up. Interesting.

i saw the drinks on the first page so i thought i'd bring you one too
it's called Madre Deus : cold thyme tea mixed with some spices (your choice, cinnamon, rosemary or lavander), add blueberry syrup, lemon juice and put it in the blender with looots of ice...mix until you have a purple mousse and serve with a straw (you can add alcohol if you wish) it's the best drink ever even if it doesn't sound exquisite please try it you'll be surprised.

Penelope, I live about halfway between Cleveland and Pittsburgh. (That should tell you where.) Folks here go back and forth to both places all the time. Some naturally became Browns fans and some Steelers fans. But almost no one here is neutral. I have seen marriages fall apart over the Browns/Steelers thing. And I am NOT kidding.

It is a nice place to live when it comes to booking flights. I can check Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Akron/Canton. All are within an hour and a half of me. I can pick and choose the airport I fly from based on flight cost and times.
