I also have to quickly thank the people behind the maze. I came here because of KCSP, and a large portion of my posts came from there. I hope it comes back soon! It may not have dealt with as much research as this BSS1 stuff right now, but it was really fun! BSS1 has made a fun storyline for us to follow. I'm not as active in the mythology and all that, but it's really interesting and it's fun :D VM may not be a part of the same thing in the maze, but we've all learned a lot of research over things on OWA and it's nice to have VM running things, he's always so helpful. Thanks VM :)

Just dropped in for a snack. I have spent bascially the whole day catching up at OWA (eg, weeding through posts), it takes a while when you are interrupted by minor annoyances like conference calls and the boss dropping by. I think it is a little better, folks are working on some interesting research and some great, fast work was done over the weekend.

Now, on to BSS1. Luckily it seems not much happened. I should get caught up just in time to turn my attention to Kiefer this evening.

The Story of Yang

I am communicating this message to your species in an attempt to offer a truce.

I will call myself Yang for convenience. You will soon learn my reasons.

I will begin at the beginning.

We come from a distant place in this galaxy. We are a long-lived species compared to you. Our appearance is perceived by you as a cloud or mist. We can travel between stars without use of spaceships. At times, we must stop on planets to replenish our energies. We do this by absorbing energy near geothermal vents.

I travel with my mate, Yin. She is the other half to my being. (Thus, you can see why I have chosen your words, Yin and Yang, as our names.) As with many species, we are similar except for coloring. Yin’s coloring is white, in contrast to mine.

We are a telepathic species.

Upon arrival at a planet with suitable geothermal vents close to the surface, our pattern is this: One of us replenishes ourselves as the other stands guard. During replenishment, we go into a dormant hibernating state. To supplement the guarding of our mates, we have the ability to project an electromagnetic shield (in a dome-like configuration) that will help protect the area. Any weapon or conveyance that is electronic in nature will be disrupted by this shield. The land mass that is covered becomes essentially invisible to electronic eyes.

We arrived on this planet approximately 125 years ago. It was decided that I would replenish myself first while Yin stood the first watch over me. Replenishment takes approximately 100 years.

When I awoke from my replenishment, I was astonished to find that Yin was not nearby. I do not believe that your species has the power to extinguish her life-force. The only other possibility is that she has somehow been contained in an area behind a very thick dense material…so thick and dense that our telepathic link is cut off.

I immediately began seeking members of your species to scan your minds for any clue of Yin’s location. I have to be cautious. I cannot risk approaching your species except when you are in small groups. If you were able to imprison Yin, then I must assume that you might be able to do the same to me. If you do so, all hope of reuniting with my beloved is lost.

I must confess to you that there are times that I have lost control of myself. In my frustration, I have sometimes vented my wrath on trees and other things. There have been a few isolated times that I have encountered members of your species that had a hand in the capture of my Yin. After I scanned them for knowledge of Yin’s location and found none, their energies were terminated.

Approximately 50 days ago, one of your conveyances was disrupted by the shield. As always, I attempted to save as many of your species as I could by cushioning your descent in the last few seconds of your fall. I have no wish to harm those of you who had no hand in Yin’s imprisonment.

There have been others that have been stranded here on this land mass. I have been able to scan some of their minds (those that have ventured away from the rest of the group). I have found something in some of those scans that has given me great hope.

It appears that my Yin must have had a small opportunity (before she was completely enclosed) to send out, across this globe, a broadcasted signal from her mind to those of you who have latent telepathic abilities. She implanted three things in your minds. (My Yin is a sharp one, she is.) First, she implanted deep in your minds this: “Yang, it is me, your Yin. I love you and miss you.” Second, she implanted a series of numbers. This must be a clue, her only way of designating to me her location, but I cannot…cannot determine the meaning of these numbers…no matter what I try. Third, she implanted in you an unconscious desire to manipulate your lives (and allow others to manipulate you) to come to this land mass so that I might be able to more easily glean (from your minds) the help that I need to locate her.

Among these new arrivals, there are several who tend to venture away from the group, making it easier to scan their minds. I have scanned the one who calls himself Locke on several occasions. The three implanted messages from Yin were there, but he had no hand in Yin’s capture.

Something else within Locke gives me hope. Some of his physical abilities were rejuvenated after he arrived here (something that is a typical side-effect of those that are nearby when our species replenishes), so that makes me think that my Yin is still nearby.

I tried something different with Locke in an attempt to potentially gain an ally. I showed him a mind-picture of my Yin. I tried to show him how beautiful she is and how I remember her from when I last saw her 125 years ago.

I yearn to see my Yin again and call her by my name for her, She-Who-Carries-Our-Future.


The Story of Yin

I stood guard over my beloved Yang, and yes, after a while, as always, I became lonely.

I did not care much for the inhabitants of the conveyance they called the Black Rock. Their minds were completely unruly and savage. I placed them as far away as I could from where my beloved was replenishing.

The two that came later were much more to my liking. The female and I eventually became mind-mates and I shared my feelings for Yang with her. She told me that she was touched and that she wanted to keep close to her a symbol of the love that Yang and I shared. She placed into a pouch a white stone and a black stone from something called a “backgammon game” that she and Fred sometimes played.

First Fred and then Amelia’s energies passed away from me and that made me even more lonely and sad.

As the time of Yang’s awakening approached, I became more and more excited.

However, a new group of natives had come to this land mass and had built some underground emplacements, one of which was uncomfortably close to Yang’s location. I feared that their instruments would detect the electromagnetic anomalies caused by Yang replenishing himself and, so, I was investigating.

However, I was reckless and did not recognize that this emplacement contained a geothermal generator capable of stunning me with an electromagnetic pulse. I assume that the natives must have become frightened of me and reacted from fear. If only I could have linked with their minds before they stunned and enclosed me. They were too frightened. The only thing I had time to do was send out a broadcasted signal with some messages that I hope make their way back to Yang when he awakens.

I do replenish myself from the geothermal energy here, but I have not put myself into my normal dormant state in hopes that I can free myself, but my captors have learned that it takes approximately 108 minutes for me to gather the energy to attempt an escape and they have set up a regimen of stunning me just before I can stir.

I do not know how much longer I can sustain both of our energies. I am so lonely but there is one thing that I know. Yang will not rest until he rescues us.

Yes, I wrote it this afternoon. It was inspired by agrillo's posting of the movie of Charlie's vision. The white dove and the black dove becoming separated caused me to think of the black dove (the black cloud) as a very lonely figure. OMG, I just checked up on OWA. Good thing I was not around this afternoon, those one-word posts were out of control.

Also, can I just say, I can't believe how FEW pages I had to rad to catch up on BSS1. I bailed Friday night about 10:30, and I only had to read a handful of pages just now to catch up. I was shocked how little went down in the last 3 days.

OK, I have a couple hours before I run to my friend's how to watch 24. Someone pass me a nice cold brew!
