Both are still in pre-publication, raider. I have signed my contracts, and am waiting on my "not very large" checks. The first is coming out in the early summer and the other one in late summer or early fall. I'll let you know when they are out.

I am not extremely well read in the fantasy genre, but I have read some as it is something my husband really likes. My first loves in reading are the horror and mystery genres. But I do read some sci-fi/fantasy.

What I would like to do is kind of build off of what Donaldson did in his "Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever", Christopher Stasheff in his "Dragon Knight" and "Warlock" series, and Piers Anthony in the "Xanth" series, take the 'fish out of water' concept, with someone coming to an unfamiliar world as the supposed savior of that world, but with a new twist to it-take the stereotypical "nerdy" guy, the one who never seems to fit in, loves RPG's and Fantasy books, reads, spends a lot of time alone, etc, and have him be the protagonist. Start out with him being transported (unwillingly and unknowingly) to a new world, only to find out that it is his birth world.. The reality of this world adjoins the reality of that one so that thoughts, ideas, and occasionally people can be transferred through. When he was born, he was spiritied away to this world to hide him from the 'evil' powers that are trying to take over. So anyway, he gets brought back to this world, learns of his heritage, discovers his 'powers', lives with the beautiful race of elvin creatures, falls in love, fights against the 'ugly' race of beings trying to take over the homeland of the elves, only to find out that after severl months, he has been fighting for the wrong side. The Beautiful elvin race is the interloper, the 'evil' power that his human family tried to protect him against, and the 'ugly'race of beings are the ones who were deposed from their homeland and are trying only to return. Kinda twists the whole Good always equals beautiful, Ugly is always evil standard...now he has to try to win over the same people he has been working so hard to destroy, undo what he has done, and defeat the people he has lived with, including the one he now loves....so whatcha think? Run it by your husband,see if it sounds like something he would read

I am a big sci-fi fan myself, so I think I may be able to help, plus I am pretty good with the English language and grammar and junk(see how eloquent that was?) Seriously though, I used to be a decent writer before I became a money manager/financial advisor and my writing skills could not have deteriorated that much!!
Anyway, unless you are gonna get all L. Ron Hubbard on us and try to start your own religion, I would love to have you bounce your ideas off of me!

I read a bunch of SF, usually of the cyberpunk genre. though i've read many Fantasy anthologies in the past.

the idea of having ambiguous feeling cos you're forced to fight one's you loved in a different life is very intriguing. add some darkish elements to your protagonist and i think you're onto something. like, Covenant had dark elements and did some bad things and it made his character unforgettable -- and humanized him.

ETA: I have been thinking about the darker aspects of the protagonist, obviously with all that he has been through, he is going to be very conflicted, and I think the dynamic of having someone who is a virtual noone where he comes from suddenly become a powerful figure with peoples lives hanging off his decision should be interesting!!

Like shopping!, eating in good restaurants, going to the movies and catching up.....hehehe Small town life is nice, but this is real civilization again. :) I'm feeling pretty good as long as I take things slowly.

Yeah, I work near where they were filming and the production company came to all of the offices and gave out a memo saying to not be worried about any large explosions we might hear! They didnt want us to think the explosions were a terrorist attack since we are so close to Manhattan!

Also, Trouble is THE cutest and friendliest cat! I never EVER liked cats until we got him. Thank you very much ILE!

"If I may, I will start at the beginning"....BOOOO Reruns on Feb 22!!! Pilot (parts 1+2) will air instead of new LOST and Invasion cause ABC doesnt wanna run anything up against the olympics.
And then it's my understanding that after Ep15 ANOTHER month long EVIL Hiatus!! BOOOOO ABC!!!
But on a positive note....
Well, at least that means that after the March hiatus, we go straight thru til the end of S2. :)
Not to mention the Webmaze EXPLODING!! :D

good Luck with the apartment hunt, that is not something anyone likes doing. I've had a headache for 2 days not as bad as my migraines but still sucky, so I am cranky too. I also forgot, can u imagine, to pay my rent so had to bolt this a.m. to the bank like a nutjob to get a withdrawal, I'm blaming it all on the Lost obsession not my own loopiness.
