Dion, anyone can join and create a thread. That's what we have moderators for. You can create whatever you want, but the mods look after the intrests of the forum and the intrests of the users.

The Joopers thread was out of place and a waste of space, so the mods dealt with it.

To her credit, she's the owner of the LOST-TV Forums, this place. Master Xander is the owner of LOST-TV. He's also an admin here, but y'all probably don't see him posting very much. He's an actor himself and he's quite busy as of late. Just thought I'd clear that up.

And yes, should you want to, you can start up a thread on cooking lobsters. However, it's more than likely that thread would be locked and/or deleted.

I'm not much of a hiker, but I did walk the rest of the way out when I broke my ankle hiking to the Tenant Falls in the Adirondacks - and that was just a couple of years ago. And I went home and made dinner before driving myself to the emergency room. Can you tell I am proud?

I was concerned when I first moved to SF that the earthquakes would bother me. I mostly find it exciting when it really does happen though. The big one in 1989 was intense though. I was here for that, one of my places of work had to close for a week. Many other folks went thru MUCH more than that.

I feel as if I choose to live in places where natural disasters happen. I grew up in southern Louisiana on the Mississippi, where we were prone to floods and to hurricanes. Then, my family moved to a corner of Arkansas in Tornado Alley and many tornadoes landed all around us there. Then, I moved out to SF where an earthquake could bring down everything! (Oh, the other place I lived pretty extensively is New Orleans!)

Yes, I went to college in OK and lived in Ar for a bit. I forgot about tornadoes too. I'd been married for such a short time and could not figure out why a shelter was in our yard. Got it real quick. (although we did have some fun in there, speaking of that ex....he called last night at midnight and talked for an hour. Go figure)

Though I'm not in tornado alley, we get quite a few tornados here. I will never forget May 31, 1985 - the night of tornados. Something like 20 tornados went through our area (Ohio, PA, NY) and one of the worst (an F-5) went right through my area. It was one of the worst weekends of my life. It was very difficult to find out if friends and loved ones only a few miles away were safe, because phone lines were sporadic. The local radio stations and tv stations were great - they went to 24 hour local coverage, and they let folks call in and ask about or report on the whereabouts and well being of others. It took over 24 hours before I knew my niece was alright. She lived with her mom and stepdad in a trailer park that I knew from the news had been hit hard by one of the tornados. But we couldn't find out if she was okay until someone finally got word through to us on Sunday morning. (The tornados happened on Friday night.)

Tornados are scary. I also live where we get quite a few. A couple of years ago, one happened during the day while I was at work. I called my husband and he was shopping at a store that was completely distroyed later. It took me 5 hours to get home (usually a 30 minute commute) and I knew the store was destroyed, but I didn't know if my husband was still there. All the phone lines and cell phone towers were out, so I had no way of knowing. Luckily everything was fine, and the tornado missed my neighborhood by less than a quarter of a mile. So scary!

WHEW ! - You guys have MUCH scarier stories than I do! - I am really glad it all turned out allright. In Arkansas, we were lucky that the tornadoes usually miss our little town. Once, though, one hit about 10 miles away & it sounded like it was headed straight for my house. That was an intense one.

I thought I would make some of Kate's Breakfast Crepes for the boys in the crowd who may perfer to keep their hands off Sawyer's Buns.
