I used to think Comcast was the WORST. COMPANY. EVER. I vowed never to give them any more business than I had to, and I deprived myself of HBO so I wouldn't have to pay them additional fees over and above my already-outrageous monthly cable bill.

Than I attempted to subscribe to Verison DSL. And suddenly Comcast is looking pretty good.

We are now roughly one month into Super's DSL Debacle, it has officially been 10 days since they told me I was all set. Today is March 30, the day they said the service would be activated. Do I have DSL? No. But I did receive an email (at work) detailing some kind of hold on my account. A problem with the line. ON THEIR END. I spoke to 4 people, including customer service, technical support, and the retention team. Nada.

Will I finally find satifaction? Will I be driven to the EVIL Comcast? Will an upstart local provider step in to save me? Tune in tomorrow...

super, I have to say that while I have no experience whatsoever with DSL, my Comcast service has been EXCELLENT... so while yeah, they jack up their cable prices more than they probably should, the high-speed internet is really pretty reliable. Just throwin' that out there.

Been a busy day -- meetings kept me away from here. But now I'm ready to go home and aside from new CSI (:yayconfet ) I can devote my evening to maps and symbols and screencaps, oh my. :D

After reading how much trouble some have with DSL, I feel so lucky. I just got it, and they were here for 8 hours before it finally worked right. It's through a small independent telephone company, and they called in one of the owner/bosses, who came and figured out the problem. He said they hadn't stayed in business for 109 years by giving up, and he would make sure it worked and worked right.

We got the bill today; they charged for one hour. It's not a mistake; they said that if they had realized it was a glitch common to Compaq computers it would have been done within an hour.

Exactly one year ago today, right around this time, I made my first post here in the Original Episode Thread for "Numbers" (which was destroyed by the EzHack). I began lurking around LOST messageboards since Walkabout, and it was pretty clear to me that this site was the place for me, so when the time came, and my mind exploded (after seeing the Numbers on the Hatch) I joined and began posting without hesitation.
And I'm REALLY glad I did.
I've made ALOT of AWESOME friends and met ALOT of really cool folks along the way.
So to mark this anniversary for me, I'd like to shout out to some of the folks who make this place what it is for me.

Now I chose this thread to do this in, as yal webmazers are like my second family now, but I'll be mentioning a good deal of folks who yal may have never heard of, all class acts.

The very first person that I remember being cool to me here was Leuthen. And to this day, he continues to be supercool. I mean come on, he was the FIRST person I shared MATTER with on the boards, and he LIKED IT :) Now look where we are....MATTER will be (hopefully if we can record it this weekend) doin the Theme Music for future OWA podcasts!! But seriously, as a poster, a Mod, and a friend, I gotta say Leuthen ROCKS!!! :Headbang:

There are ALOT of folks who I've kinda "abandoned" since the creation of this Spinoff Forum. I must apologize for turning tail and moving into the Basement, so to speak, here as a full fledged Webmaze Master. Yal folks were the reason I liked this place to begin with, and even though I don't post in Lostaways very much, or participate in some of the more intense theories/discussions in T&S/GD anymore, know that I love all yal, and still have a tremendous amount of respect for all of you. Folks like lostmio (aka Biscuitmom), chinamom, SpidermanHouston, LostInHisEyes, KF2, MJBinNC, juanbong, athywithaK, drabauer, ILikeFreckles, Bekka, and anyone else I forgot. This means you. :)

Then there was the beginning of the Webmaze, all the way back in May 2005 when the Oceanic site was found before TPTB wanted us to see it.
And the Old Scooter Dude fiasco in Spoilers.
(this one I'd like to forget, but cause it brought out the Summer Rerun Forum, I must mention it) EzHack. 'Nuff Said.

My first real accomplishment here was the maintenance of the Summer Rerun Forum. What happened there was, right after Exodus2, that weekend I watched all of S1 straight thru and took notes the whole time - the Birth of Truffula's Episode Notes - which became the foundation of the Rerun threads. As each Ep would rerun, I would just paste my notes in the thread and let the discussions begin. Thus the birth of another thing I do here - at the end of my notes, I like to say "Discuss On" because I don't care if anyone responds to my post, those notes are there for everyone's benefit, and I like to think that my line of thought sometimes can inspire greater ideas or help to uncover the mystery of LOST.

Now, for the first time ever, here, LITERALLY, are my notes from "Lockdown". These were written as I was watching the Episode, and I use them as a starting point when I rewatch, cap, and take notes for real where I can pause/rewind. If you can make out my chickenscratch, you will see one guess that I was way wrong about that didn't make the notes in GD this week. Enjoy!

Then after "Orientation", the Webmaze picked up ALOT. And yal know the rest of that story.
Because of all that CRAZINESS, we are all here right now, and despite two really bad "incidents" I am still here too.

There were only 6 people I shared Hodag's steganography secret to before it was "discovered". ILE, Lab, Yung, drabauer, lorraineshere, and seeyouinthenextlife.
Yal knew what I went thru over the Copenhagen hoax more than anyone else here. And it got pretty intense at more than one point.
Thanks so much for helpin me get over that one.

Now what I really wanted to do here is name EVERY webmazer, but time will not allow it as I wanted this post to coincide with the approximate time I made my first post (after "Numbers", 10:05pm est March 30, 2005). And I'm rapidly running out of time as I try to write this.
See, if yal didn't notice, 4 things just happened almost at once (I TRIED to make it 5 cause of yesterday, but fell short...damn MAP :p).
My avatar changed, I finally added an I DON'T TRUST HENRY!!!! userbar, I posted my ep notes in GD (http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/showpost.php?p=480489&postcount=575), and made this post.

As far as where we were chatting....I think if I told yal where this happened, the place would get flooded by LOST fans, and Javi would probably not come back. Most of the chat was about his comic "Middleman", and occasionally someone like me or yung or another LOSTie would ask a "good" question.
The cool thing was, he really tried to answer everyone. Now at first, when I went in, the chatroom was moderated, meaning, you had to wait in line to post a question for Javi....my first turn came and I froze....next thing I know, I'm unblocked in the chatroom and can freely post a question.

So here's one of the GOODIES I managed to get....I asked, flat out, Who drew the Map on the Blast Door, and Why?
This was the answer I got:

4)"Estimated travel time incompatible with 108" It is 108 minutes, so whoever draw this map had a maximum of 108 minutes to travel. Since, for now, we don't know if there are any computers with obligatory intervals, it is safe to assume that the traveler was working in the Swan.
5) So much acronyms.
6)Another major one, Magnus Hanso (Great Hanso) He lies either in or close to the BlackRock.

Okay, caught up, sort of. Truff, congrats on 1 year. When I was first lurking here, I quickly got to the point where I went straight to webmaze related threads (before we had our own place) and looked for Truff's posts. Then, when I registered and never got an e-mail, I found his e-mail address on his website and asked if he could help. He was so cool and so nice to help a total stranger. He helped me out and I go on. Here I am today. So, again, congrats Truff! :)

I missed you all too! :Hugglepounce: I felt so bad this morning when I realized to prepare for the end of the semester, which includes two 3-hour tests that determine my future, I'll be practically boardless from May 4th till the 17th!:weeping: Which I guess compared to that my 24-hour absences like this ain't so bad. :rolleyez:

I wish I had seven years :Headbang: . My first day here my adviser/boss told me "If you work hard you'll have a Ph.D. in four years, and if it takes you longer than five years you're wasting your time." I guess there are sometimes disadvantages to an adviser who considers himself "honest" (he also told a group of students who had each given a 5-minute presentation on their work "Nothing really impressed me.") Still like working for him though, I have relatively free-reign on my research.

(Eerily enough, I can now use the hatch map to justify doing Lost stuff at work, as some of the side comments (like "Mountainous Terrain Most Likely Used by D.I.H.G. for Meteorology Research") could relate to what I research, namely tropical cloud and precipitation patterns. So, thank you, Lost, for giving a reason to talk about Lost at work! :Cowdance:

It sucks.
