GOOD MORNING BBR'ers!

Pene, thought of you last night, being the alchemist of allegorical alliterations, when I saw V for Vendetta. Great movie people, if you havent seen it, go check it out...anyways...Pen check this one out!

"This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is it vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished, as the once vital voice of the verisimilitude now venerates what they once vilified. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose vis-à-vis an introduction, and so it is my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V."

post 11111 was the first post on page 1112. I have not changed any default or standard settings so who knows?

I thought it was Hunter's default??

ILoveEko

Jeannie's right, lol. Like dragon, you post number is 11121, but you are actually the 11120th reply, because the 1st post doesn't count as a reply.

dragon44
04-11-06, 02:55 PM
everything is hunter's default.

Jeannie
04-11-06, 02:57 PM
Yep, ILE got it. The number you see is replies, so you add one to see the number of posts.

I wonder if I could hit my 1000th post today?

and? I just wanted post 11111 to be on page 1111 and it is not (for me anyway). I understand that you say that it is really there but not there because the first post is not really a reply but the 11111 was really a reply that really didn't end up on page 1111.

Another :Cowdance: submission for the Perfesser:

Milk -n- honey
I love ‘em, honey
But they’re nothing compared to you
The way your eyes see through me
Oooo, what it does to me
My senses go - to milk and honey

The 11,111 reply is the 11,112 post in the thread. So post 11,111 was on page 1111. But outside on the thread it would have said 11,110 because that number only counts replies.

But technically, with no default changes the 11,111 post is on page 1111. The 11,111 reply (which is the 11,112 post) is on page 1112.

Jeannie
04-11-06, 03:02 PM
TI, you better be able to hit 500 before I get to 1000.

I'm at work though, so I'm not sure I'll be able to hit it at all. It depends how many people waited until the last minute and walk through the door today hoping to get their taxes done without an extension.

I apologize for my improper forum semantics. I will rephrase my original statement.

It would have been better if the 11111 reply was on page 1111 of this thread.

goAlvar
04-11-06, 03:05 PM
Then how can we define? what is a post and what is a reply? If they are the same, why two different names? if they are not the same, is this a post or a reply?

Jeannie
04-11-06, 03:07 PM
Don't feel too bad TI. I'm paying for the first time this year myself.

Yes, the CPA has to admit that she forgot to change her exemptions for withholding this year, despite the fact that kid number 2 could no longer be claimed. So I was underwithheld. I'm not looking forward to writing that check this weekend. :(

But I try very hard to neither owe nor have a refund. I want to be as close to zero as possible. Why let Uncle Sam use my money as an interest free loan all year? If I had been able to still claim kid number 2, I'd have gotten a $47 refund. Which would have been right where I wanted to be.

The_Island
04-11-06, 03:10 PM
in order to post on these threads you must click the POST REPLY button...therefore they are all replies accept for the first post by Lab5 defining this fine thread of ours.

dragon44

Yes Jeannie! Being at $0 is perfect. I have been that way for around 15 years now. I neither pay nor get a refund. I like it that way. ;)

I agree, dragon. For symmetry purposes that would have been perfect.

I hope you don't think I was picking on you. That's always been one of my pet peeves about the boards. Because I am a number geek and like things to work out, and because the number by the threads is replies it is always screwed up. And it's always driven me nuts.

Technically Algo all replies are posts... and all posts are replies except for the original post in a thread. Because it starts the thread and is not replying to anyone. Unless of course, the poster screwed up and started a new topic when he/she meant to reply to a post in another thread. ;) And that's about as deep and thoughtful as I can get.

Ooh. I bet your check is bigger too. And I feel your pain. You didn't happen to have to move for a reason though, did you? Like relocate for work? Because that can take time off of the 2 year wait.

Sadly, that doesn't count.

I did just read a case though where the family was allowed to ignore the two year wait, because shortly after they bought the house, a relative moved in with them. The relative was a registered sex offender, and the neighbors basically forced the family out. The IRS ruled that the family could not stay so they were allowed to forego the 2 years.

So I guess if you were a registered sex offender....

Yeah, I'm paying for the first time, too. First year on retirement pay, so I wasn't sure. Still, I'm not changing my deductions - I'll just be ready and earn interest on it.

On a lighter note, I just decided to cut my own hair. Thankfully it is not long in back, or I would have a mullet now. So, here's my advice: do your own taxes, NOT your own haircut!

The saddest part is that if my number 2 son had earned $200 less than he did for the entire year I still could have claimed him. Had I realized that I would have told son number 1 (who employs his younger brother) to hold off on the last paycheck until after January 1st.

Rose, I'm glad your hair survived. I'd never cut my own. As for doing your own taxes, many people can - especially with TurboTax and the like now. But if you ever have anything questionable, you should see your tax advisor. (Hey, if everyone does their own taxes, I might be out of a job!)

Good morning you all everybody! It's a beautiful morning here in the Land of Pleasant Living. Great to see you all! I am in a fine mood because the guy my boss hired instead of giving me the job I wanted just quit after only 4 months! See what happens when you mess with a supermodel?

Anyway, I had a few things to say but I'm going to try to boost my post/reply count today. Hey, I'm PR whore! that's what I do for a living!

I just got my Old Farmer's Almanac newsletter, so I'll share cool full moon stuff:
The Full Pink Moon (April 13)
This full Moon is also known as the Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon, and the Fish Moon. Pink refers to the wild ground phlox, usually in bloom around this time. Historically, Native Americans living in what is now the northern and eastern United States kept track of the seasons by giving a distinctive name to each full Moon. With some variations, the same Moon names were used throughout the Algonquin tribes from New England to Lake Superior.

In case anyone has ever heard of "Pinkster Fest" in Albany, New York, the "pink" flower was the origin of the name.

Good for you, Penelope!

The saddest part is that if my number 2 son had earned $200 less than he did for the entire year I still could have claimed him. Had I realized that I would have told son number 1 (who employs his younger brother) to hold off on the last paycheck until after January 1st.

Well, they always say that the cobbler's children have bare feet, so that's what's happening here. You were too busy helping others to deal with yourself.

LOL. He pays him much more than that. But he got the last paycheck on December 28th for the two weeks ending the Friday before. (And it over $200.) But had he held off and not paid him until January 1st it would have been 2006 income, not 2005. And he would have been under the income limit for 05 so I could still have claimed him. Personally, I'm not a fan of Peeps. I don't really like to eat sweets very much. I believe it is a side effect from when I was 15 and worked in a Godiva store.

Although I hear that Peeps are excellent when roasted over a fire like regular marshmallows. Perhaps Staypuff can verify?

Sorry one more PW until I have to get back to work. Yes - That was the ship!! That restaurant was pretty cool. I didn't take a picture of it when it was colorful - too much going on. LOL Here is a pic that you can see the white/black walls in the background. Disney does everthing to the T and this was no exception!! It was soooo much fun!! Thanks, sweetone! I thought that sounded like such a neat (and oh so very Disney) way to have a meal. I wish my boys were still little so we could take them on a Disney cruise.

Hi lab!

There were a lot of "big kids" on the ship too. I don't know how old your boys are but they had private "TEEN ONLY" areas and activities. It really was a good time. I want to go again!!

My boys are 23, 20, and almost 18. I can't imagine them wanting to go on a Disney cruise with mom and dad. And since my husband said he had enough of Disney all the times we went when the boys were small, I don't think I'm likely to get on one soon. :(

Ya, I guess your boys are a little old for the Disney cruise. As soon as one of them gives you grandkids - then you can plan one or next time I go, you can come with us. :p :p :p :p

Jeannie

LOL - I might take you up on that!

And while I really want to go on a Disney cruise, I'm not ready to be a grandma yet. As I am constantly telling my boys.

With this post I would like to address three things.

1)Whilst skimming GD, i notice a new thread entitled Santa Clause. What type of person (i.e. where do you live, what was your childhood like, have you ever seen anything with comedy in it) thinks that after a year of thousands of smart-arse people making posts about lost, that the joke that its all about santa clause would be original?

2)I didnt think this belonged in OWA thread, since I didnt want people to realize how dumb I am by linking this idea to OWA. But has anyone else seen the thread regarding the changing record player in the hatch? It has been a long time since I have seen it.....but it just seems like an awfully HUGE prop mistake by TPTB if indeed that is what it was. Discuss.

3)At 197 posts borky qualifies as the ultimate anti-whore. In fact, his complete unwhoreness reminds me of all the girls i dated until middle age.

For the cows that are feeling a disco groove coming on:

"Cows Rule, All Right!"
(Sung to "Get Down Tonight")

All you cows, let's get together
Bovine gals, me and you
And do the dance, ah, do the dance
That we like to do.

Do a little dance, give a little milk,
Cows rule, all right,
Cows rule, all right.
Do a little dance, give a little milk,
Cows rule, all right,
Cows rule, all right.

All you cows, I'll meet you,
Same place, same time.
Where we can get together
And ease up our mind.

Do a little dance, give a little milk,
Cows rule, all right,
Cows rule, all right.
Do a little dance, give a little milk,
Cows rule, all right,
Cows rule, all right.

Do a little dance, give a little milk,
Cows rule, all right,
Cows rule, all right.
Cows rule, cows rule, cows rule, cows rule,
Cows rule, all right, baby.
Cows rule, cows rule, cows rule, cows rule,
Cows rule, all right, baby.
Cows rule, cows rule, cows rule, cows rule,
Cows rule, all right, baby.

Definitely one of my top 20 favorite :Cowdance: songs of all time: Cows with guns.

Am]Fat and docile, big and dumb
They look so stupid, they aren't much fun
[G]Cows aren't fun

They eat to grow, grow to die
Die to be et at the hamburger fry
Cows well done

Nobody thunk it, nobody knew
No one imagined the great cow guru
Cows are one

He hid in the forest, read books with great zeal
He loved Che Guevera, a revolutionary veal
Cow Tse Tongue

He spoke about justice, but nobody stirred
He felt like an outcast, alone in the herd
Cow doldrums

He mooed we must fight, escape or we'll die
Cows gathered around, cause the steaks were so high
Bad cow pun

But then he was captured, stuffed into a crate
Loaded onto a truck, where he rode to his fate
Cows are bummed

He was a scrawny calf, who looked rather woozy
No one suspected he was packing an Uzi
Cows with guns

They came with a needle to stick in his thigh
He kicked for the groin, he pissed in their eye
Cow well hung

Knocked over a tractor and ran for the door
Six gallons of gas flowed out on the floor
Run cows run!

He picked up a bullhorn and jumped up on the hay
We are free roving bovines, we run free today

We will [F] fight for bovine [C] freedom
And [E] hold our large heads [Am] high
We will [F] run free with the [C] Buffalo, or [E] die
Cows with [Am] guns

They crashed the gate in a great stampede
Tipped over a milk truck, torched all the feed
Cows have fun

Sixty police cars were piled in a heap
Covered in cow pies, covered up deep
Much cow dung

Black smoke rising, darkening the day
Twelve burning McDonalds, have it your way

We will fight for bovine freedom
And hold our large heads high
We will run free with the Buffalo, or die
Cows with guns

The President said "enough is enough

These uppity cattle, its time to get tough"
Cow dung flung

The newspapers gloated, folks sighed with relief
Tomorrow at noon, they would all be ground beef
Cows on buns

The cows were surrounded, they waited and prayed
They mooed their last moos,
they chewed their last hay
Cows out gunned

The order was given to turn cows to whoppers
Enforced by the might of ten thousand coppers
But on the horizon surrounding the shoppers

Came the deafening roar of chickens in choppers

We will fight for bovine freedom
And hold our large heads high
We will run free with the Buffalo, or die
Cows with guns

This is a blues song, it is not about the groove, it is about :Cowdance:'s perception of herself.

"Malted Milk", by Jonny Lang

I keep drinking malted milk
tryin' to drown my blues away
I keep drinking malted milk babe
tryin' to drown my blues away
Your as welcome to my lovin' babe
as a flower in the month of May
Well baby fix me one more drink
hug your daddy one more time
Come on fix me one more drink, yeah
hug your daddy one more time
Come on fix me that malted milk
until I
till I change my mind
Solo
Well my door lock keep on turnin'
I think there're spooks round my bed
Well my door lock keep on turnin'
I think there're spooks round my bed
I got a warmer feeling that
the hairs are standing on my bed
Malted milk, malted milk
keep on rushing to my head
Malted milk, malted milk, babe
keep on rushing to my head
I got a funny funny feeling
that I'm talkin' all out my head
I got a funny funny feeling
that I'm talkin' all out my head

Or how about this one? I know you're a bit young but surely, aggie, you've heard of Benny Hill?

ERNIE (THE FASTEST MILKMAN IN THE WEST)
(Benny Hill)
Benny Hill - 1971

You could hear the hoof beats pound as they raced across the ground,
And the clatter of the wheels as they spun 'round and 'round.
And he galloped into market street, his badge upon his chest,
His name was Ernie, and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west.

Now Ernie loved a widow, a lady known as Sue,
She lived all alone in Liddley Lane at number 22.
They said she was too good for him, she was haughty, proud and chic,
But Ernie got his cocoa there three times every week.

They called him Ernie, (Ernieeeeeeeeeee)
And he drove the fastest milk cart in the west.

She said she'd like to bathe in milk, he said, "All right, sweetheart,"
And when he'd finished work one night he loaded up his cart.
He said, "D'you want it pasturize? 'Cause pasturize is best,"
She says, "Ernie, I'll be happy if it comes up to my chest."

That tickled old Ernie, (Ernieeeeeeeeeee)
And he drove the fastest milk cart in the west.

Now Ernie had a rival, an evil-looking man,
Called Two-Ton Ted from Teddington and he drove the baker's van.
He tempted her with his treacle tarts and his tasty wholemeal bread,
And when she seen the size of his hot meat pies it very near turned her head.

She nearly swooned at his macaroon and he said, "If you treat me right,
You'll have hot rolls every morning and crumpets every night."
He knew once she sampled his layer cake he'd have his wicked way,
And all Ernie had to offer was a pint of milk a day.

Poor Ernie, (Ernieeeeeeeeeee)
And he drove the fastest milk cart in the west.

One lunch time Ted saw Ernie's horse and cart outside her door,
It drove him mad to find it was still there at half past four.
And as he lept down from his van hot blood through his veins did course,
And he went across to Ernie's cart and didn't half kick his 'orse.

Whose name was Trigger, (Triggerrrrrrrr)
And he pulled the fastest milk cart in the west.

Now Ernie rushed out into the street, his gold top in his hand,
He said, "If you wanna marry Susie you'll fight for her like a man."
"Oh why don't we play cards for her?" he sneeringly replied,
"And just to make it interesting we'll have a shilling on the side."

Now Ernie dragged him from his van and beneath the blazing sun,
They stood there face to face, and Ted went for his bun.
But Ernie was too quick, things didn't go the way Ted planned,
And a strawberry-flavoured yogurt sent it spinning from his hand.

Now Susie ran between them and tried to keep them apart,
And Ernie, he pushed her aside and a rock cake caught him underneath his heart.
And he looked up in pained surprise and the concrete hardened crust,
Of a stale pork pie caught him in the eye and Ernie bit the dust.

Poor Ernie, (Ernieeeeeeeeeee)
And he drove the fastest milk cart in the west.

Ernie was only 52, he didn't wanna die,
And now he's gone to make deliveries in that milk round in the sky.
Where the customers are angels and ferocious dogs are banned,
And the milkman's life is full of fun in that fairy, dairy land.

But a woman's needs are many fold and soon she married Ted,
But strange things happened on their wedding night as they lay in their bed.
Was that the trees a-rustling? Or the hinges of the gate?
Or Ernie's ghostly gold tops a-rattling in their crate?

They won't forget Ernie, (Ernieeeeeeeeee)
And he drove the fastest milk cart in the west.

What's the scoop, Betty Boop?

ETA: Hi, Blondie!

http://www.wten.com/Global/story.asp?S=4757572

On the floor of Tokyo
Or down in London town to go, go
With the record selection
With the mirror reflection
I'm dancing with the cows

When there's no-one else in sight
In the crowded lonely night
Well I wait so long
For that dance sensation
And I'm dancing with the cows

Oh dancing with the cows
Oh dancing with the cows
Well there's nothing to lose
And there's nothing to prove
I'll be dancing with the cows

If I looked all over the world
And there's every type of cow
But my Elsie's eyes
Tend to make me sigh
Leave me dancing with the cows

So let's sink another drink
'Cause it'll give me time to think
If I had the chance
I'd ask the cows to dance
And I'll be dancing with the cows

Oh dancing with the cows
Oh dancing with the cows
Well there's nothing to lose

Speaking of music, I recently fell in love with Enigma's "Gravity of Love" and I was wondering what other Enigma songs someone might recommend. So if you're an Enigma fan or you just happen to know a bit about them, give me some suggestions for their better pieces.

Hey DM!! I love Enigma. I am partial to 2 CD's MCMXC A.D. from 1992 and The Cross of Change from 1993.
They do have a new compilation out of the last 15 years. It's on my list of things to buy!

DM, Sadness Part 1.......very nice. And you might like Return to Innocence. They have a lot of decent ones, but those are 2 of my preferred Enigma songs.

ETA: Yeah, what Jaimie said......MCMXC A.D. is my personal fav. The whole CD is pretty good.

Hi, DeathMountain, Lab, Truff, ILE

Hi again, Fozzie, Mika, VA, and Blondie

Okay, I've got a 40-post page and that's everyone I can see!

Any milestones today? Congrats to all!

I went to watch Jeopardy and ended up doing my jigsaw for an hour; good therapy!

It's fun! It's a contest puzzle. Here's the contest:

Two curious cats have surrounded themselves with 40 items, phrases and symbols that start with C-A-T. We'll give you one clue: caterer's card. Even the spelling out of C-A-T counts. Two of the answers are found when you crack the cryptogram border which reveals the true title of the puzzle. A gorgeous 1000 piece challenge by artist Geoffrey Tristram. First prize is $1000, second prize is $500, third prize is $250 and the five honorable mentions are $50. See contest rules for details.

Wow! Now that one is a challenge!! ;) I hate it when they look hard but end up being too easy. You've inspired me to go and get a 3-D puzzle, as I've never tried one of those.

Wow. Thats a freaky coincidence right there.
My mom JUST finished doin it. That EXACT puzzle. With the cats and all the letter thingys but there's more than 40 (ALOT more than 40 things), and there's a puzzle that looks like a cryptogram but it isnt. I wont spoil it for you and tell you what it is, but I know if you need help. ;)

Honestly, Mika, if you like puzzles, 3D is not that bad. I did the Empire State Building for my first; it was VERY hard at first, but once I got the hang of it, it went right along. That's a hard one to start with because it's pretty much the same colors with teeny tiny lines to match up.

Venice was much more fun and easier - it's like doing a lot of little flat puzzles, then building them up. If you build it, you won't want to take it down. My niece and nephews all have little houses picked out for us and we make up stories about what we would do - they have great imaginations!

No, but seriously.... poor Truff! After that nice offer, too. I couldn't resist, because I keep telling my Mom I think she's a secret Miles Plus member.

And you don't have to buy the puzzle to do enter the contest. Just go to bitsandpieces.com and look for contest along the left hand side.

One of my nephews, who is 8, looked at the picture of the Pope on the upper left and said Catholic right away. I was in awe - I don't know if I would have come up with it.

Truff, I may beg for help! Did your Mom enter? Will she appreciate it if you give answers to others, LOL?

First off, you scared the living HELL outta me just now.
I almost had to call to be sure.

Yeah, she entered it with I think 54 "cat" thingys and the solution to the "word puzzle" (and a bunch of other stuff she said that I don't remember).
I don't have any answers, I just know that the "word puzzle" isn't a cryptogram like it appears. ;)

Hi All! That was funny Rose about you being Truff's mom. LOL Very cool cat puzzle! You should post the photos of it when you are done.

OK Truff....Stephen King....HIM maybe? I bet he appears on the show. I always felt he has been part of LOST. Nothing that man does surprises me and he just pushed back his Marvel Comics until 2007. Looks like he has a bit of extra time.

Okay.
I am kinda freaking out over here....
I got bored fast and yet again went in search of meaning to my octahedron find on the Blast Door Map - and YES, it IS a CLUE dammit.
Here....let me show you something.....

But before I do, I want to say that I personally cannot make the appropriate connections, but I have PMd yung in hopes that he will be able to tell me for sure whether or not this ties into his QH theory, which would be freaking INSANE if it does!!! :D

As a reminder - here is what I found -

OCTAHEDRONS

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e41/truffula/CONNECTION.jpg

Now I have been "grasping at straws", or so I've been told, but when I got bored tonight, I did a search for "Octahedrons and Space Time" and I found this - http://www.sourcetext.com/pythagoras/initiation2.html

About 3/4 of the way down the page, you will see it.
I read the first paragraph or two, wigged out, scrolled down, saw the octahedron, and almost passed out.
I THINK THIS MIGHT BE THE CONNECTION!!!

Or I'm still crazy. :p

Peace,
Truff
