We even have some Canada Geese in a nearby pond that have decided to stay during the summer. Our town is so small that I have Main Street one block away and open country the other way.

Mika, would you believe that I've never in my life mowed a lawn? I managed to scare people so much the first time I tried that word spread and I was never asked again. Now we have a service do it, which is great, because the guy who owns it bought the house next to me. He lives with my cousin and he is the cousin of my sister-in-law. Needless to say, we get great treatment.

BTW: I have often said that you can't fart in this village without having a relative smell it.

We did a self-defense course in 9th grade... and I chickened out and didn't fight the guy at the end... I couldn't do it, I was aowwired I wasn't gonna be able to get him off of me and I would be embarassed, lol.
Keeping a long story as short as I can. We would do these demos and teach classes. Basic woman's self defense. To make it realistic, we spent long hours in the studio practising until we knew each other's moves perfectly and could make it look right. Because you can hurt each other by accident, and I had many bruises and even a black eye once.

Anyway, opening demo move is him coming up behind and grabbing my shoulder, pulling me backwards. I turn into the grab, use my purse to shove upwards into his face. That forces him back, exposing his groin. I drop my hand, hit his groin with a grab and tear motion (all males present should now be shuddering) and run past him, kicking out his ankle to make him fall down. Works like a charm. For safety sake, I use an empty purse, and he wears his padded groin cup.

Just before the demo he comes up and whispers to me, "I forgot my cup. Make sure you grab my thigh and not my... groin." I freaked out. "I can't do that! What if I forget? I'll just pretend to hit you." Him: "Pretend to hit me and you'll be on the floor with me on top of you. We do this right or don't do it." And he walks away and starts talking to the group.

So I get my purse and start walking away from him thinking, "Don't hit his groin, hit his thigh." over and over. He grabs me, I spin around and shove my purse into his face with all my might. He hits the floor, blood gushing from his nose.

I was so afraid I would accidently hit his groin that I grabbed my real purse instead of my empty one. And something in it jammed up against his nose and broke it!

I felt terrible. He was actually happy that the demo showed how a simple household item really could help a woman get away. Men.
