Why does Jack get so interested when Eko tells him Ana-Lucia is there? Didn't they only talk for like 5 minutes? And then at the end of the episode they just stand there looking at each other...it seemed like they had more back story but I'm pretty sure they just met right before the plane ride...am I wrong?

I dont know whether they met before 815, but the most basic implication of Jack's reaction was that he was relieved that AL had survived. Of course he and all were none too happy that her arrival in camp unleashed a tragedy.

Actually, I think that Jack's reaction meant to convey "I know that name, therefore these people are indeed survivors from the tail of the plane!" Remember that he was rather adamant during the first season that there were no chances in hell that anyone else had survived.

I agree, az. Also, don't forget that Jack is prone to overreact in order to agonize over every little detail. It wouldn't be the first time it's happened.

The reason why Jack was so shocked to hear Ana-Lucia's name being said in the survivors was because of what Azteclady said. That's exactly it. Also, he may be a little interested in what she has to offer. Thus him having drinks with her at the end of Episode 9.

Yes, Azteclady, your interpretation makes more sense. I concur.

I think perhaps they did actually meet for another drink before the flight.
Maybe there was more than just that 5 second meeting.

I think AZ is exactly right! Also, he's been having these "blasts from the pasts" so to speak. Remember his encounter with Desmond both in the enclosure and the jungle? Now he hears another name Ana-Lucia. In both instances, he only talked to the people for a minute but he's now seen or heard of them again. I think I'd be taken aback as well!

While I'm as big of fan of gratuitous sex scenes as anyone that's one flashback I hope I never have to see. My eyes are burning just thinking about it.;)
