View Full Version : S2 SPECIAL EPISODE THREAD 11-JAN-06: LOST : Revelation
Mod note : When moved for the summer re-run, this thread was on post #26.
This is the discussion thread for the special LOST episode, "LOST : Revelation"
Please post all your episode comments, mini-reviews, as well as simple questions ("What did so-and-so say?" "What did so-and-so see?" "What song played at this scene?") regarding the special episode.
Any new theories or big issues raised by the episode may be started on a new thread.
Enjoy the episode!
Unlocked, but please keep all countdowns, timers, etc in the "Hype" thread. Thanks.
I'm including this FYI this week at the urging of a veteran poster:
Did you know you can change the number of posts you view on a "Page"? I see folks mention they are on page 52 when I am on page 15! Try this to cut down on your mousing and get through long discussions faster:
On your control panel (click CP on top menu bar, or go where you view PMs) on left sidebar menu hit EDIT OPTIONS.
Scroll down to Thread Display - see option for "Number of Posts To Show Per Page" and reset.
Just a thought, some may wish to change their views to cut down on the number of pages in the episode discussion threads. This is completely voluntary to each poster. :)

So it's pretty decent so far I guess, it's cool to see the 2 halves of the story match up(losties and tailies)

Any show, recap or not, with Kate in the shower is OK in my book.
Absolutely LIW! It was worth watching just to see that scene again. ASK - Admirers of Sweaty Kate, Showering Kate, Skating Kate, Slipping Kate, Swimming Kate, the possibilities are endless. :)

With Kate in the shower and AL in her little black shirt how could you go wrong.
This is definatly for newcomers but a pretty overall good recap episode, but no mention of Danielle or the monster.
It wasn't too bad, I have to admit. Could have been worse. Seems like TPTB heard all the complaining last season.
Hi. I was just wondering if anyone else here is from Cincinnati. The reason why I'm asking is that I'm wondering if anyone else here is p*ssed off because of WKRC pre-empted the 8:00 episode of "Lost" with some local show and it will be aired tonight at 1:35AM. And you know, what makes the whole thing so stupid(and inconsiderate) is that they aired the 9:00 episode even though they pre-empted the 8:00 episode.   Didn't someone from CBS get fired from their job because they interrupted an episode of the top rated "CSI" with some not so important news and p*ssed off a whole lot of people? If you live in Cincinnati, call WKRC tomorrow and complain.

Carnival Cruise Lines is using "Byond The See" for the adverts during this LOST episode tonight. That is the english version of French Womans song "La Mer" that Shannon sings in season one.

Could it be your thread has been preempted for some local crap and will be seen again at 1;30 am? Then again it' may now be showing up on the Micro Computer in Station Swan.

Maybe I'm the one that's lost...but, about 6 weeks ago I told a friend that if the writers of this show continued to inject too many unanswered questions about what's happening without revealing anything then I would get bored and lose interest in the show.
It's like carrying on a conversation with someone that never gets to the point they are trying to make.
Well, I've been waiting for 2 weeks (since I heard the first ad for last night's episode) for "Revelation". I was under the impression that with the two hour special that they were going to give us SOME answers to the questions that have gone unanswered in this show.
Maybe it was me that missunderstood....and if I had not been expecting some revelations this week I would have enjoyed this episode just as much as the others. Now I'm just disappointed and bored with the show. The writers didn't have to name this episode "Revelations"....they could have called it "Ecko", "Circles" or "Substitutions". I believe they called it that on purpose and now I'm just Pi$$ed.

I see I'm not the only one who thought Lost:Revelation wasn't all that bad. I thought the comparisons they drew between Jack and Ana-Lucia was excellent. Hopefully the "haters" saw that too.
I was wondering if anyone attributed any significance to the narrator and what he said in the recap episode before 23rd psalm. for example, he does mention that the people were stranded on "two sides of the same island" or something like that "over the south pacific". does this mean we can be sure that they ARE really on an actual island and ARE really in the assumed location?

i thought the whole episode was odd, for the fact that they even HAD a narrator in the first place....

Well.. I've been told point blank, and in no uncertain terms that Damon Lindelof has stated that the narrator is unreliable.

Thanks, FanFiltration. That clears things up. :rolleyez: By the way, does anyone here realize that some of the people here at this forum are rude and that this forum sucks? :Cowdance:

The narrator in the recap was heterodiegetic, omniscient and reliable.
And despite being all that he still managed to completely leave out Danielle, Claire's abduction, and the Black Rock. (Can we say dropped storylines?) But he did manage to throw in all the love triangle clues and just about every scene of a character in the hatch showers.

One reason I watch the synopsis shows closely is because they might provide insight into which scenes or dialog might be more relevant than others.
Some bits are self-explanatory of course. Since the following new epi was Eko-centric, it was important for Revelation to lay the foundation for Eko's backstory.
However there were other bits I found intriguing. For instance, they specifically included Ana's "we were in the air for two hours" as a stand-alone statement.
From what we know so far, the duration of the flight would not seem to matter other than to loosely establish a remote location. Two prominent contradictory mentions of the flight time, both of which have been replayed in the synopsis episodes indicates "there's more to the story".
I thought it was interesting that Claire's abduction, Danielle, and the Back Rock were never mentioned. Could these be three storylines that they've chosen to drop? Let's hope not.

They weren't recapping the entire series.
They were focusing on S2 events, primarily from the time the tailies appeared. They were linearly interspersing events between each side of the island. Since time was limited, they didn't show everything that had been previously rehashed in earlier synopsis shows.

Merging with the special episode thread.
Moving to General Discussion for tonight's re-run. Enjoy the show!

Of the three recap episodes they've aired, this definitely was the best. I guess it took a little practice to get it right. :)
The only problem with the re-cap episodes, is that they try to tell the whole story of LOST in each one. The one they aired later in the season after this one, Reckoning, I just couldn't watch. They'd be a lot better if they just picked up each new one where the last one left off. There's no reason to be trying to tell the whole story, again, in April of S2. I wonder if they're going to do these "re-cap" episodes during S3 with the revised scheduling. I for one hope not.

So, it wouldn't surprise me to find one at the beginning of S3.

I think the statement "a plane breaks apart somewhere over the South Pacific" uttered by the narrator is a major clue that most people have looked over. This would disprove a lot of theories of the island being in Antartica or somewhere else. Why would we not believe what the narrator says?

But you're right! It would take a lot of theories out of play. Although, I think the Australia/Fiji/Antartica area is exactly where the plane went down. ;)
