As if the responses will be informed!

Who is your favorite rollergirl?

Homer Noodleman
01-12-06, 03:29 PM
You actualy watch that crap?

Warthawg1
01-12-06, 03:34 PM
Yep...sure do. It's on A&E, therefore it can not be crap. At least that's the story I am sticking with. Have you seen it Homer?

Homer Noodleman
01-12-06, 03:41 PM
No, I haven't.

A&E does appear to be mutating, doesn't it? Maybe their headquarters got hit by a burst of cosmic radiation or something. Or maybe they just figured out nobody was watching the crud they used to air.

Warthawg1
01-12-06, 03:47 PM
I've always like A&E. The A&E biography shows are usually very interesting, and they are the same company that owns The History channel.

Plus I am not above watching scantily clad freaky women on roller skates....

Opps, I meant to say "in depth analysis of the real lives of people involved in activities on the fringe of being called sport."

SpidermanHouston
01-12-06, 03:56 PM
Maybe some pics of the girls will help me select one.

Warthawg1
01-12-06, 04:01 PM
Now see there is more to these gals than just the physical. I mean that while I do have a spot in my heart for the freaky side of culture, I would never claim that these gals are your traditional hotties like what you see in the hottest girls thread.

In other words; you're being very shallow there Spidey, lolol

SpidermanHouston

I guess I have to do my own research. Rollergirls

Am I the only one who voted (for Miss Conduct by the way). Good stuff, this show is. A&E is starting to get better shows these days and this is sure to become a classic. Well, maybe not.

sawyerhasbestlines
01-12-06, 04:53 PM
She scares me.

Does that mean you guys are done with Libby?

juanbong
01-12-06, 04:57 PM
Not even close, SHBL, not even close. And it looks like I may need to speak to Hurley as well.

Warthawg1
01-12-06, 05:02 PM
Done with Libby????

Oh my heavens no!

Just checking in with you guys.

juanbong

Glad to see Miss Conduct is getting more of the votes (I know it's only three at this time, but hey at least some are voting). No problem, SHBL, you keep us on our toes.

I can't wait to see why she gets arrested next week.
Arrested? Do they have fake storylines like wrestling?

Warthawg1
01-12-06, 06:05 PM
Not really spidey. It's a reality show about the lives of these people. She really does get arrested.

Blackhawk
01-12-06, 10:41 PM
I refuse to watch this show just because the adds are so lame and they play them almost continually. I especially hate that one chick... "I don't have a problem with authority, I have a problem with people telling me what to do." Please. I love how they act all important and profound, despite the fact that they are ROLLERGIRLS. Like anyone gives a crap about Roller Derby or about anything they have to say.

Still, Miss Conduct is hot.

A&E really is mutating isn't it? It's similar to how TLC used to be called The Learning Channel and would show educational shows. Now all they show is crappy desgin shows like Trading Spaces.

Warthawg1
01-12-06, 10:50 PM
Still, Miss Conduct is hot

Yeah and next week she gets arrested. You know what that means.....

Hot women's jailhouse cell action.

I've only caught a little bit of it. It needs more actual roller-derby.

juanbong

More roller-derby, less whine. More roller-derby ladies, less whine. Both sound good...

John Charles
01-13-06, 04:01 AM
Okay. You got me. I love reality tv. It is a guilty pleasure of mine and I could not resist this poll.

I am with the crowd on this one. Miss Conduct by a mile. Sexy, sassy and skates like a demon.

Make that happen!

Miss Conduct by a mile.

I agree completely although I'd say that is a bit of an understatement. The rest are below average or mediocre at best. It's pretty bad when you are wearing a skimpy torn-up school-girl outfit and you still don't even look hot.

Noav Sigless
01-13-06, 09:48 PM
That's a very bad pic of Cha Cha.
These women are a bit rough around the edges but there is an appeal.

I too was a bit disappointed about the lack of quality pictures available on the A&E website. There were several gals who didn't even have pics available, and for the ones that did; most of the pics were not the best they could have used.

Warthawg1
01-17-06, 01:06 PM
Darnit... Miss Conducts arresting officer was just a stripper sent to her by Sister Mary Jane. There goes my dream of hot jailhouse love.

The campaign to legalize Clownsnack was a success.

The Snack attack is back.

juanbong
01-23-06, 04:17 PM
I watched the Rollergirls episode this weekend with the male stripper for Miss Conduct. Let down . And I thought we would see some good jail shots. Clownsnack and her fiasco was interesting. It goes to show you that even if you invent something, it doesn't always mean you will get to keep it. The whole thing about her being one of the originals and then getting dissed by the one person who Clownsnack actually called to welcome her into the fold, that sucks. Oh well, this next episode should be a good one.

Warthawg1
01-23-06, 05:06 PM
I just ordered my Legalize Clownsnack tee shirt. I loved it when she was going around town vandalizing fences.... I mean expressing her desire to return in a public forum by spreading the word.

Sure she did get legalized already and sure not many people will know the meaning of my tee-shirt, but that's what makes it so grand.

LEGALIZE CLOWNSNACK!!!!

What's Clownsnatch?

Warthawg1
01-24-06, 05:42 PM
Ok.. so in our new episode last night we had our first true ca-ca-ca-catfight as Punky Bruisers best friend Jail Bait hooked up with PB's co-worker after she told JB she had a crush on him.

In other news - The undefeated Holy Rollers remained that way by coming from behind to beat the Poontas Del Fuegos 64-61 in overtime. For the first time we saw Holy Roller Miss Conduct repeatedly outperformed at the jammer position, but Sister Mary Jane came to the rescue by out dueling her friend Chola in the overtime period to save the day for the H-Rollers. This loss knocked the Poontas out of contention for the championship.

Warthawg1
01-24-06, 06:06 PM
Oh crap man.. I didn't mean to spoil it for you. Should I wait until Wednesdays to post my show recap? I know that will deprive the thousands who view this thread for 24 hours, but they can adapt.

juanbong
01-24-06, 06:22 PM
No, no. I will still watch it anyways. It is now getting good and I am totally enthralled with the show. Now if this was Lost or 24, then we got a Warthawg problem, and I need to know you got my back. (J/K)

Then we're good here.

Warthawg1
01-30-06, 04:02 PM
Okay.. so I'm flipping channels this weekend and I stopped on A&E. So what do I see? A show called Confessions of a Rollergirl. They had many of the major players being interviewed about the show, and being a rollergirl. Instead of seeing them in their day to day attire, they were actually dressed up and it made quite a difference. Punky Bruiser looked really nice. If it wasn't for all the ink present with Miss Conduct, I might have wanted to go back and change my vote.

That's all I've got right now. This continues to be the official Rollergirls thread.

LostInWilderness
01-30-06, 07:54 PM
I was with Punky Bruiser from the beginning.

Warthawg1
01-31-06, 01:51 PM
Good choice.

Juan, last nights eppy had a pretty violent Rollerderby match at the end of it, and it was followed by the Confessions of a Rollergirl eppy I mentioned. We all know why watching women fight is so exciting, lol

juanbong
01-31-06, 02:14 PM
Hey Warty,
I taped it and will watch this evening. I read the previews for the episode. Something about Clownsnack and some sort of problem. I hope none of the girls got hurt in the match though.

Warthawg1
01-31-06, 02:23 PM
Actually last nights eppy inclusion of Clownsnack was just to have a focal point for the real issue; the rift between Lunatic and Catalac. The roller derby match did include some injury, but nothing major. The fight however was a good one, lol. The Smackdown was given. If you taped it though you probably will miss the Confessions thing as it came on after the regular show.

juanbong
02-05-06, 04:19 PM
I did miss the confessions show, but did like this weeks episode. I like Lunatic and was glad that her and Catalac finally made up. I do wonder how long this show will last, but interesting nonetheless. On a side note, I was surprized to see Catalac go from one team to another because of the rift. This coming weeks new episode should be good though.

Crap. I taped it. What'd I miss?

And by the way, I'd like to change my vote to Cha Cha.

juanbong
02-08-06, 03:19 PM
Nice wedding between Cha-Cha and Lunatic. I am starting to think Luna is a cutie. Well, not just starting to think, have thought. But this weeks epi made me realize this fact. I think that some of the other teams are out to get certain members of the teams with frivolous rules and regulations. Cha-Cha couldn't skate because she didn't show up for a couple of practices but the same thing happened to other members of other teams and that was cool. Very catty.

juanbong
02-15-06, 03:12 PM
So this week we Sister Mary Jane wanting to move to Hawaii with her boyfriend and Punky wanting a change for herself. It wasn't spectacular, but good nonetheless. I am looking forward to next week's show though.

Warthawg1
02-15-06, 03:40 PM
It's decent entertainment for me on a Monday night devoid of much else on TV. Most of the gals have enjoyable personalities, and I will always find out of the ordinary stuff like this a bit entertaining. I remembered Roller Derby from my long since passed childhood, so I found it interesting to see it being revived. I also laugh every time I see those two announcers before each game because they remind me so much of the announcers from MTV's Celebrity Death Match.

Apparently Sister Mary Jane did move to Hawaii after last season. She's no longer in the league and on the leagues website they give the reason for her departure as "moved".

juanbong
02-15-06, 03:44 PM
Warty, nice to see ya again.

I also laugh every time I see those two announcers before each game because they remind me so much of the announcers from MTV's Celebrity Death Match.

Right down to the one guy's handlebar mustache. Good stuff.
I figured as much for SMJ. I wonder if another season will come out of this as well. It is good and entertaining, like you mentioned. Better than a lot of the reality shows on lately.

Warthawg1
02-15-06, 09:58 PM
Thanks for the warm greeting.

I don't know if the show will be back for a second season, but it is a nice change of pace from other reality crap. I would much rather watch these common simple folk instead of the model wannabe's on all the other so called "reality" shows. I could actually hang out, and have a conversation with these people, but put me on The Real World or something like that and I would last about 7 minutes before I started cracking skulls.

See ya around Juan.

Warthawg1
02-21-06, 02:00 PM
Well this weeks episode proves that these people are more than just uneducated trailer trash. We have art, high fashion, and some culture.

Just not enough actual roller derby in this episode, but then again the match was little more than a massacre: 70-16.

Warthawg1
02-23-06, 08:14 PM
Ok.. so maybe I misspoke when I said high fashion and instead should have opted for fashion designed while high. Sue me.

Juan, did you not get to see this weeks eppy?

juanbong
02-23-06, 08:19 PM
Not yet, Warty. I watched Serenity Tuesday evening and then the UNC/NCSU basketball game last night. But tonight I plan on taking in the fresh air of the girls drinkin' PBR and some high class cruisin-for-a-brusin action.

juanbong
02-24-06, 01:47 PM
All I have to say about this week's Rollergirls is two words- de-stroyed. 70-16 is horrible. On a lighter note, I liked the art loft place that Venus and Mary Jane got with their boyfriends. Nice little pad. I still have a crush on Miss Conduct.

Warthawg1
02-28-06, 03:56 PM
Actually it was Venus and Lux that are sharing the pad.

I'm confused about this weeks episode. They said it was an all new episode, but I swear I have seen it before unless I just somehow saw many many clips from it in some preview. (Like 70% of the entire show which I remembered verbatim)

Anyhoo.... new or not I watched again. It was nice to see some flashbacks to the early days of Roller Derby when they played in front of 55,000 people in packed arenas.

ETA: Good ole Miss Conduct.. she may be a bit rough around the edges, but that's a fun party gal right there, with a little but less neurosis than a Punky Bruiser, and less bitchiness than a
Lunatic.

juanbong
03-02-06, 12:34 AM
Quoted by Warty:
Actually it was Venus and Lux that are sharing the pad

Ah, thanks for the catch. And I am liking Lux more these days. Real good vibe to her and can kick ass when needed.
The episode was nice. Yeah it was new with 60's-80's roller derby footage all thrown in. An homage to a legend in their field. I can see the end of the season coming though and am sad. Next week's episode looks like par for the course. Overall, it now makes me want to go to some of the roller girl matches around here. I know some girls that did it, but are out now. They loved it.

John Charles
03-03-06, 12:13 PM
Is it just me or do Punky and Luna look a helluvalot alike. I swear they could be sisters. And I would really like more Cha Cha storylines.

Overall, this is a captivating reality show. Now we need the men's equivalent: a Sumo Wrestling league.

Warthawg1
03-03-06, 07:59 PM
The only difference between Punky and Luna is that Punky's ears stick out a bit more. Even with that, you can only really tell if PB has her hair pulled back. For some reason whenever I see Punky I know it's her and not Luna, but
when I see Luna I always think it's PB for a few seconds before I figure it out, lol

John Charles
03-05-06, 03:20 AM
It's the eyes. Punky's eyes are wider, Luna's are more jappy.

Warthawg1
03-07-06, 01:58 PM
Excellent new episode. The first 35 minutes of the show are completely dedicated to an actual roller derby match between the undefeated Holy Rollers, and the undefeated Rhinestone Cowgirls.

They should title this episode "Everyone hates the Holy Rollers" or "Sister Mary Jane will beat you with a Jesus stick"

It's a bit sad as we are nearing the end of the season, but this was an excellent eppy.

Good episode this week. Great match between two undefeated teams and it was good to see Sister Mary Jane get all pissed, even if it was with her friend Lux. It would be great if they have another season, but overall it was a good show.

MJ420 will rise above it all and the Rollers will win the championship. Then next year they'll be the worst team in the league.

This has been a good reality show. I actually like these chicks. I wish my town had roller derby.

Warthawg1
03-21-06, 03:42 PM
Stupid hiati!!

I actually already know who wins the cup because this stuff was filmed last season. I didn't know that however when I went to the actual TXRD website and got spoiled. I wont however spoil it for anyone who doesn't know. If you want to remain in the dark, just don't visit their actual website.

3 episodes left. The next episode concerns an exhibition match where one of our teams challeges a team from a different league.

see you in the next life

Well Juan.. you were right. It was an excellent ending. The TXRD girls really took it to that Arizona team from the other league, did they not? Chola took that crap waaay serious, lol

Plus... damn those girls know how to throw a party.

I guess now we can congratulate the Rhinestone Cowgirls, but alas... we may never see them again unless we head to Austin.

 The bar is high.. No, I have to say I'm with that number as well. I wish more reality shows were like this though. And what did I see during Rollergirls commericals? An add for car salesmen. Please, anything can get its own show nowadays. At least Rollergirls had the 3 R's...Racks, Ribbon (as in PBR), and Rollerskates :p . All three are gold in my book!!!

Warthawg1
04-05-06, 04:03 PM
lol.. Hilarious.. that's not really what I meant by the number 8, but if forced to grade the show it works out to be about the same number.

What I really meant is that there were 8 of those gals I would do, and not really mind if anyone found out, lolol (There's maybe 3 or 4 more that I would do under the moped rule)

Well, I didn't want to get PG-13 on the board here, but let's count the ways... first would be Miss Conduct, next would Lux, then SMJ, Chola, Punky, Catalac, Jailbait, Lunatic, Cha Cha....did I miss anyone? Ok ok, nine then. Damn, got me wanting more of this show. *curses*

Warthawg1
04-05-06, 04:20 PM
I had 8, and if memory serves me correctly I wasn't counting Chola and Cha Cha as I had put them in category 2, lol

Def Miss Conduct, Lux, SMJ, Punky, Catalac, Jail bait and Lunatic... I can't remember the other 2 that were definites right now. Maybe it was Chola and Cha Cha but I seem to remember them being in category 2. This is going to bother me all day until I remember.

Warthawg1

I wasn't a big Punky or Luna fan at the beginning, but they grew on me as the season went along. At the end, they were two of my definite favs. I don't know why exactly, but there is something about Lunatics brooding nature that I find attractive, lolol

With Punky I am 99% positive a lot of it has to do with that plaid school girl outfit she wears.

For anyone who might be interested, here is a reply to an e-mail I sent to TXRD.

Hi Michael,

Glad to hear that you got into the show Rollergirls. As of right now
there are no plans for a second season. There is good news, you can watch the games live and uncut by logging onto our website TXRD.com the Sundays of our games. To find out the season schedule just click on schedule. From there go to webcasting and log on.

Thanks for the support,

Nadia Kean
Manager of Public Relations

I am kinda dismayed and happy at the same time about this. I am happy that at least we can still see them in webcast format (unless we have to pay for it), but dismayed because I know it is the end of the show. And damn, just when I was getting into "King of Cars"..[/sarcasm/]...good lord!

If I ever get within 100 miles of Austin, I'm going to go check out a match.

I'll also check out the webcast thing, but I will miss the out of the rink action.

The good ones always die young. First it was the Joe Schmo show, and now this one. I am however happy I got to see it. I remember roller derby from my childhood, and now after 30 years I finally am able to understand the scoring.

Plus, I'll always have my Legalize Clownsnack tee-shirt.

Now that was classic entertainment!!!! Then we get shows like "The littlest Dwarf" or whatever the hell that was on Fox.

I loved the Joe Schmo show. Classic and hilarious parody of reality TV, with a touch of wholesome goodness. I liked it so much I went out and got the season 1 DVD. It was worth the $39 just to see what was left on the cutting room floor when his buddy went "swollen knuckle" on him in the make them laugh contest. Just thinking about that has me laughing.

Juan, you really should rent the season 1 DVD set if you can find it.

The extras and commentary are worth it, not to mention the uncut version of "lick the chocolate off the porn star" contest.

I don't know how available it is. A local Blockbuster down here had it on their shelf.

Yeah... I know. Plaid skirts... sheesh.

I went to a party recently where they had plaid tablecloths.

It was rough making it through that party.

I dunno man.. I can't explain myself.

I was just sitting there when I noticed the tablecloths were plaid.

I was afraid to stand up or make any sudden movements for like.. 2 or 3 hours.
