whats up with claire

is claire the most un important character left on the show. She has only had one flashback so far as i remember, no flashback in the last show of s1, and seemingly no reason to show a flahback in the future. also, she is really only shown in the context of her relationship with charlie or the baby that she needs to raise. is she just the most common person on the island, or is there something i am missing?

Claire will definatly have a future as a charachter on the island, if for no other reason than the fact that she IS Aaron's mother, and there is something important about that fact. Although she has only had one flashback, she has had plenty of screentime, including plotlines surrounding specifically her and her baby for multiple episodes. So I wouldn't worry about her too much. She is still important, it just isn't her turn to shine right now.

Aaron will play a big part in the future, I'm sure.

The whole thing with the clairvoyent was a big hint from the writers regarding the whole premise of the show, I feel.

So Claire's role as offering Aaron a vital 'anti -evil' upbringing makes her a pivotal character, eventually.

You are right that there was no flashback for Claire during the season1 finale, but it was for lack of air time and not because she wasn't considered important. In fact, if you get the DVD, there's a rather longish flashback scene with Claire and the Oceanic 815 pilot, that wasn't aired, but that delves a bit deeper on her past and motivations.

As others have mentioned, I do hope we'll see more of Claire during the run of the second season. After all, we haven't even reached the half point yet.

I do think its odd that she only had one flashback in season 1 and still hasnt had one yet in seaosn 2. Especially when you think people like Jack, Kate, Locke have had loads just in season 1. I would class her as a pointless character, i think she's more interesting that Jin, Sun, Sayid, Walt and Michael. I dont think they will kill her off any time soon because of her popularity and perhaps less importantness like they did with Boone and Shannon because they were really going no where, but she has the baby now so what ever they do (if kill her off) they will have to think back to that and i think Aaron plays a huge part in the show that maybe we havnt seen yet so i dont think she'll go no where and I do think she will get that deserved flashback soon. Hopefull she will get more than one too. she is personally one of my favs beside CHarlie and Sawyer so i hope she gets more appreciation and acknowledgement but i think she will in the near future.

They don't show us anything of Claire the person,just Claire the mommy.

Maybe they are trying to stretch out Claires flashbacks.Who knows maybe all the charcaters that are having a lot of flashback time now won't be around until the end.
