WARNING: SPOILERS FOR THE 23RD PSALM

I haven't seen the preview to the Hunting Party yet, so I may be missing some info about this. If Michael plans to rescue Walt, why hasn't he told anyone that he's been in contact with someone through the computer. From the scene between him and Jack, it's obvious that Michael's trying to keep his computer contact secret from everybody else. Wouldn't he try to get as much help as he can? Did Walt, or whoevever it is that's been contacting Michael, tell him to keep it secret? And if Walt did tell him to, why? I'm smelling a trap here...

Considering we've already seen The 23rd Psalm, I don't think anything there is a spoiler at all.

That aside, Michael didn't tell anyone because he's trying to atone for years of not being a father, IMO. He's probably planning to take off and find Walt on his own. Yes, it has all the markings of being a disaster. I can almost see it coming. All he's going to manage to do is put other castaways in harms way by trying to be the hero. Hell, even Charlie had Sayid when they went for Aaron.

A trap? That's putting it lightly I think.

Hi, white_stone! Yes, I agree with you wholeheartedly. The entire exchange - or what we've seen of it - has set off alarms all across the board. There are polls (http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12924) on the subject, as well as a couple of discussion threads (http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12790) in GD. Personally, a trap is a given. The why and by whom, are the two unanswered questions for me at this point.

Hey azteclady, thanks for the links, I appreciate it.

Personally, a trap is a given. The why and by whom, are the two unanswered questions for me at this point.

Yes, I should have known everyone else would think that. I personally think one of the Others is posing as Walt. If they were able to make a list of the names and appearances of nine Tailies, then I wouldn't be surprised if they were keeping eyes on the midsection people as well (which would explain how the contact would know to type "Dad?" as soon as Michael introduced himself).

I read this in another thread awhile back, so I'll just transcribe the thought.

Is Michael having a "havid"? Maybe he hasn't told anyone because it's all in his mind. He feels like he let Walt down by letting Capt. Gorton take him. "They took him right out of my arms!"

I've only viewed the 23rd Psalm once, but I can't remember Michael touching the keyboard after Jack comes into the hatch. Was there really something on the screen in the first place?

I too think it's a havid just due to the convenience of the two times we have seen him talking to Walt, he just so happened to be the only person there at exactly the right time. That for me is too much of a coincidence to be just chance.

The havid theory's a good one, but if Michael's hallucinating, then why did he have to wait a little bit before talking to "Walt" that second time? If I remember correctly, he was tapping impatiently on the keyboard for a few seconds (the computer screen remained blank) before the person on the otherside called him. I didn't think a hallucination would be so... timely, if that's the right word.

Michael looked disturbed if not insane. That is what happens after intensive computer usage. We all know this...:compwoes: :hammersel :hypnotize

I think whatever Michael read on the computer stressed secrecy, for one, and also revealed something about what's going on in the island. Whether that is actually what's going on or not, is pretty much irrelevant at this point, since Michael only blurts, "nothing is what it seems, you don't know what's going on" to Jack.
