View Full Version : which character are YOU most like?

most of the main characters on lost are basic archetypes (the bad boy, the soldier with a past, the do-gooder, the @#%$-up, the clown, the spoiled princess, etc.)

so, which one are you, and why?

btw, i'm a "Locke"-

enigmatic; a loner; a person of unrealized potential in the real world, but pragmatic and decisive in a crisis. in other words, a survivor.

I am a charlie. Always trying to be funny but not afraid to show a caring side. Never was addicted to drugs thought, except maybe coffee. :D

aside from the, ya know, tremendous obesity i'd say i'm a Hurley...cracking jokes, being helpful when possible, trying not to take things TOO seriously all the time but not afraid to contribute and lose the jokes when needed.

oh, and i say "dude" a lot...

and here i was going to say you were like walt because of your child like stature.

but then i remembered...walt must TOWER over you.

what is it like to be able to stare UP at vincent's testicles?

Do most not like Shannon? Why what did she do.. She seems totally cool

cinderellabop
12-17-04, 04:26 PM
Well, some people would think that the fact that she painted her toenails just after surviving a plane crash, while people around her were suffering would classify her as a bitch.

gscaleta
12-17-04, 04:29 PM
I for one think shannon is the only one NOT in purgatory.

Sawyers Girl
12-17-04, 04:29 PM
She was probably in shock, and this how she deals with it. I would probaly do the same thing. Painting your toe nails keeps you focused and slows your brain down so that you can gather your thoughts. She was brave and went with the other to try and get a signal. Have you read the Diary on the ABC website. I think Shannon is writing it.

cinderellabop
12-17-04, 04:36 PM
I think it's pretty much been proven that none of the regular characters is the diary writer; the diary vaguely refers to "that guy Boone," like she doesn't know him, but obviously Shannon does. I think Shannon was even mentioned in the diary at one point.

I think you mentioned you were new to watching the show, is that right? There is an episode you will see where Shannon uses Charlie rather badly, and another episode where she callously comments that she wishes the suffering, moaning air marshall would "just die already." Overall, she did not have a good start on the island, however, I do think she will come around and become more likeable, particularly after her episode airs.

12-17-04, 04:44 PM
Sawyers Girl don't let cinder cloud your mind. See Shannon is the Angel and she is trying to lead the others out of purgatory and into the light.

MangaKhan
12-17-04, 07:25 PM
Shannon and angel? Are we watching the same show? Shannon is a bitch. If you don't think this, you are going to be confused in later episodes when she turns out to be the hero or have some really awful backstory.

Well if I were involved in a plane crash I would probably be less worried about my toes and more worried about helping out and making sure everyone was okay.

Painting my nails would be at least second. I also wouldn't stand their screaming on the top of my lungs like a baby.

She is a spoiled, stuck up, high maintenance brat. That is why she annoys me.

Shannon's okay. She's just young and self-centered. She's got some growing up to do. Weren't we all like that at least once in our lives?

I probably identify most with Claire. I was an unwed mother, although no one ever tried to kidnap me; and I did go to a psychic once- he didn't tell me to get on a plane, but he did tell me I was going to get a promotion.

And I LOVE peanut butter!

I agree - Shannon's pretty normal. At least with her, it's what you see is what you get.

Oh god, I hate saying this, but I identity mostly with Kate.

I've always been a tomboy - super comfortable in nature, self sufficient. As a kid I would do a lot of non-girl loner things: sneak out of the house to spend the night alone up in the hills, fix my 68 triumph, ride skateboards, build forts and treehouses, rock climbing, jump off very high bridges into water, etc.

I would have to say Charlie. All my friends say so. Reasons?

I can play bass, I'm in a band, I don't talk that much unless it is to someone I really care about, I feel useless most of the time, I feel like everything is my fault, I can be very nice when I'm not in a bad mood.

And examples from the most recent episode:

I'm very moody at times, I like to be alone, I am very reluctant on helping people, I'm very sensitive, and not to mention I even sit like him. (what that has to do with anything I don't know.)

Things Fall Apart
01-09-05, 06:25 AM
I think I'm most like Charlie in the aspect that I try to make people laugh and smile, and I'm always trying to do the right thing, whatever that may be. I can relate that he felt guilty about the lifestyle with his band (because we all make decisions that seem good at the time but eventually we're not proud of).

I think I am a mix b/w Charlie and Kate.

To me Shannon is just dealing with things in the way that is most normal to her. I mean if you are in a crisis situation you shouldn't freak out, you should just try and be yourself.

I actually like that about her.

Sawyer.

Stick to the outside, watch, call it like I see it, keep others at bay with my intelligence, and protect myself (and those I am loyal to) fiercly.

sarah's monkey - like sawyer and protect yourself don't seem to fit. Remember how he practically begged to be tortured? Are you into pain too?

Sawyer allowed himself to be tortured because A) He wanted to be punished for his wrongdoings and B) He was moving towards the larger goal of getting Kate to kiss him.

I also wonder how much he let them torture him. He was hit over the head when sleeping and then tied to a tree. What other way did he have to defy his captors than verbally demanding more?

Also, if he didn't protect himself why would he ask Jack "Want to see who's taller?"

But yes, if a group of people jumped me, say the way Jimmy got jumped by the Free World in 8 Mile, I would ask them for more, "Keep it coming big shots. I didn't think all six of you could take me."

morbius47
01-12-05, 09:56 PM
Well the way he could've gotten out of it would've been to say.... hmm let's see, what could he have said... oh, I know, "I don't have the freakin meds". If he wouldn't say that, he was asking to be tortured, therefore not really doing a good job of "protecting" himself.
Then again, no one on this island seems to be very competent at anything they do... Jack sucks as a doc, Kate sucks as a theif, Sayid sucks as an interrogator, Locke sucks as a survivalist (yeah I said it), Boone sucks as a lifegaurd, Shannon sucks as a translator, Charlie sucks as a musician...
Don't know why anyone would want to compare themselves to anyone on the island.

MangaKhan
01-12-05, 09:59 PM
Locke sucks as a survivalist

Okay, scuse me? Better explain yourself brother.

Shannon sucks

God I hope so!

Sarahs Monkey
01-12-05, 10:01 PM
Well, I already established that I think he wanted to be tortured as a form of retribution/cleansing, so this one instance doesn't prove he doesn't protect himself.

Do you really think Sayid or Jack would have believed him if he said he didn't have the medicine?

01-18-05, 11:39 PM
I am only 24 years old... but I have spent mors of my adult life like Claire... pregnant, alone and always the victim. Now I'm more of the tip toe around the husband sort like Sun. (my husband is a mix between Locke and Sawyer) And I'm a dangerous liar like Kate. Thats what you turn into when you have had enough of being Claire. But under no circumstances would I ever turn into the brother screwing fashionably shallow Shannon. If I was on that island... I would have kicked her ass by now.

01-21-05, 02:22 AM
Although I am a chick, I would have to say that I am a cross between Hurley and Charlie. I am really good at making people laugh when they are down (Hurley) but when it comes to myself, I am overly sensitive and often feel like I am just in the way (Charlie).

Locke: Mystic as the day is long, impossible to argue with, strong tendancy to get conversations sucked into philosophy, more interested in others than in myself, idealistic, strongly people savvy, not technically a leader but still have the ability to mobilize/motivate others by taking a course of action, strongly quixotic and generally considered "strange" in good way by others, enigmatic.

Now let's charge that giant boys!
