View Full Version : Do we need 2 weeks off before the Superbowl.

All season long we get football every weekend, but when the big game comes, football disappears for a week. Do you like that or not?

Would you rather they play the Superbowl after the normal 1 week or 2 weeks?

Are you responding to your own poll?

Of course. I didn't put my opinion in the first post though. Should I wait?

ETA: I deleted my post... for now. ;)

F. football if by "football" you mean that thing you play in America handing a melon from one side of a field to the other.

"American rugby" IMO should not interrupt the broadcast of Lost.

And yes, I am an alien, look at my avatar.

Now why'd you go and do that? I love when people ask questions to themselves and then answer back. Your'e witty you can handle a multi voiced conversation all by yourself.

:rotfl: I love that too shbl. :)

To answer the poll, having two weeks off is kinda useless IMHO. I say have the playoffs, take 1 week off for prep time, rehab, etc, and then have the game. Not like anyone's going to forget when it's on.

I deleted it temporarily because I didn't want to influence the vote. Once we've got some votes in here, I'll restore it.

Darn these loaded polls.

I voted for 2 weeks, but not because I think it gives us a better game as the poll choice noted. See, I hate to see football end, and if it's only 1 week; then it ends 1 week sooner. Even though I had no football this weekend; I still had the anticipation of football to look forward to, and that means something to me. Yes... 2 weeks...lots of hype...anticipation: I'm good here.

Well in this case, it helps Pittsburgh out for being on the road for so long, and only hurts Seattle since they have been more or less chillin' at home until later this week. But I do think a week is more appropriate. On a lighter note, ABC is using this game as a spring board to lure more people in to watch Grey's Anatomy. It already has 20+ million viewers each week and may get a lot more, who knows. Remember what it did for Alias.....

What did it do for Alias? Get it cancelled? lol

I hate for football to end too, but not having it for a week, and really nobody discussing it (have you seen how dead the NFL thread is?) sucks. It would be fine if people were talking about it, but ESPN is hardly talking about it.

Why do you lot call Football "soccer",bugs me.I don't watch "American" Football but I hate when there's no "Real" Football on over this side of the pond so I'll vote 1 week in sympathy of "football" fans even though I consider it gay rugby.

I like all of the hype! I voted for the current schedule. Two weeks! What year was that, where it was only a week between the Conference Championships and the Super Bowl?

Gay rugby? What the hell is that supposed to mean? Rugby involves more male to male contact over the fate of a stupid ball. Sounds pretty gay to me.

As for hiatus in football, at least the NFL doesnt toss in a rerun. Or maybe that would be good??? I like two weeks. If one or both teams sustain workable injuries, then there is perhaps time to recover.

Meanwhile, I think that there was just one week for the NY Giants vs Buffalo Bills. Could be wrong there. The Bills' FG kicker might have benefitted from an extra week of rest???

Forgive me for butting in your thread, I don't know how I ended up lurking about in here to begin with.

However, now that I'm here...

That made me giggle boonian. However, IMO, I think the term 'gay' is meant to actually infer that your football players aren't as tough and manly as our rugby players, rather than implying they are coverting their opposite No's cute bum!

I think the perception stems from the fact that although rugby, league or union, is also a full contact sport, it is played with little more protection than a gumsheild, compared to the impressive array of protection that is required in American Football.

(That said, I'm aware they are totally different games....I just though I could help with the gay part.)

Right, I'm running back to the safety of my kitchen sink. ;)

LMAO,no offence lads,I just through in the "gay" part to liven the thread up,anyways, why do you call football "soccer"??,any idea,I'm not even sure if the term "soccer" originated in America but it seems to me the rest of the planet calls it "football"???

Another reason why lace rules...

The "gay rugby" thing, well as much as I think American Football is a wusses version of rugby, all you're doing is bashing something you don't understand, which is why I can always spot Americans who know nothing about real football... they seem to think its played by lily-livered fairies and that nothing ever happens.

It's not a sport unless it has 700 horsepower under the hood.
