How can we stop the madness?

I have seen and received many messages telling myself and other basement dwellers to "stop the madness". I have attempted to take this to heart, but have run into trouble. Today I posted on a "serious" thread in theories, I posted my sincere belief, one that I had posted many times before "the madness" began. That thread was quickly locked and I was rebuked for corrupting it.
Have we come to the point that no matter what we say it will be taken as sarcasm?
I understand why the mods may be confused, this is a thing we have brought on ourselves. My question is, how can we change it?

Also, if not, are we banished forever to the basement, the wine cellar, and the dungeon?

Personally I don't care. Or do I care about the locking of the thread or don't care what you think. I may care what you think a little or a big like you are but not BI any means will I become BI for you or anyone. I can be serious if need be when needs be to be serious. And if that make sense then it just show you that no one really cares what you care about.

But all in all we must be given a second chance - only if the reason is cause the first one is a freak. But really - why can't we be taken serious - we have contributed quite a lot of good things to this board. Who's with me??????????

Found the post. After review I think the locking and the smart aleck crack were two separate issues.

The lock does seem valid; there are already several threads on the mystical/magical nature of the island, most notably The Island Wants Them To Stay and Be Happy thread. I don't think it was a reprimand to certain posters; other threads have similar response by the posters and those threads haven't been locked.

I can empathize with the concern this thread poses and support its feeling, but I think this instance isn't an example of clamping down.

I just think cccourt made a backhanded funny to the lock to boot. Two birds with one lock as it were.

Khan, yes it's the one he wrote after his wife and daughter died and it does have it's moments of sadness, but I like that it helps me remember how lucky I am. Other than that it's a great read. My husband is a big ole Rush fan and now the boy (10) is hooked too. The boy has even seen them twice already.

It's the first one I have read, but now I'm planning on reading the others. He also has made me want to read several other books he mentions.
