Come in and say "hi" and tell us what LOTR boards you post to.
Not sure about everyone else but I love LOTR :) No boards though.

I only say that because so many people were critical of how his character was handled.

But It's not an Elf. Although "elven" is the part that was correct in your reply. Now JG has another part that is correct.

Sadly, Abraxas, it seems we are merely proving that we are not worthy.
That whole "light side" thing made me think of Gandalf "the white". He's a bit of a shifty fellow who already has more names than could possibly be good for him. Not that I'm saying you're shifty. Unless you are. ;)
Abraxas
10-12-04, 03:44 PM
Hm, JG was partially right I said. That means the nickname belongs to Aragorn (JG was right on that, cause she listed other nicknames of Aragorn).
And Springle got "elven".
Like I said, it's possible that none of you remember that nickname.

Abraxas
10-15-04, 01:40 PM
Sorry, it's not Estel, either.
I feel like I show off here. :\
Actually, Lothiriel of Rohan guessed it in chat yesterday. She should not tell it because I have another hint for you.
Here's a cryptic clue:
the compressed sound of a wood creature
This one is powerful and will give you the full name. :D
EDIT: I had the clue wrong the first time. The part about the "wood creature" is vague, but we are talking about that all the time in this thread. :p

All I can think of is a beaver being squeezed... hehe... I'm NO good at this... Maybe I should slide over to Encyclopedia of Arda and look for obscure names. :p
Abraxas
10-16-04, 10:35 PM

I'm wakerobin on theonering.net, though I don't post there very often. I mainly post on Dominic Monaghan boards, and rarely on the Ringers & LOTR fan club forums. I'm a huge LOTR fan, though nothing makes me happier than Dom these days. I found the Lost pilot early last summer via Dom sites, and got addicted right away because it's such an amazing show.
Mithril379
10-18-04, 11:36 PM
Yes we're on the same page Woodnymph. I believe Galadriel named Aragorn Elessar, which translates to Elfstone.
Another Aragorn name is Envinyatar (Renewer). Less of an "elf" aspect except that it's in Elvish.
I wonder where the instigator of our guessing game has gone?

I'm a LotR fan. I LOVE the movies. I liked the first one. I wouldn't sit in the theater for the length of the second one, so I rented it on video. When I saw the third one opening weekend with my cousin, I was TOTALLY hooked. I went out to the internet the next day and bought the collectors editions to the first two.
I've seen the first 2 movies several times and the 3rd one twice in the theater. Now I'm reading the books. I'm trying to get all 3 read by the time I have my LotR party (watching all 3 EE in a row on a Saturday with friends), in January. I should be able to do it since school gets out in early December.
I was never much of a Dom fan in the LotR, though. I must admit. I kinda stumbled upon Lost. My step-dad wanted me to sit down and watch this new show with him. I saw the first show and was hooked. It was kinda funny because when I first saw Dom I screamed, "It's a hobbit!"
I do love them both, though (LotR and Lost). Glad to see so many fans here.

Cheers for LOTR!!!!!
Damnit!!! Why can't it be December yet so the ROTK Special Edition DVD can come out!!! They had a big thing about it at Comic-Con. I got David Whenham's autograph, I talked to Rick Porris a for about 5 minutes and got his autograph, my friend poked Billy Boyd, and Dominic Monaghan brushed against my shoulder. It was so awesome. They also showed us some miscellaneous clips from the extended scenes and Billy Boyd told everyone a story about how Viggo Mortensen kissed him and he got horny. So great...I can't wait for the DVD to come out!

I have read the trilogy twice, and frequently go back to read through my favorite passages over and over.
I own the extended versions of FOTR and TTT, and theatrical version of ROTK. (The extended version of ROTK comes out just four days before my birthday, and yes, I have hinted that I want it for my birthday.) I have watched them all more times than I should admit, and still cry through a lot of ROTK, particularly the end.
I own the trilogy, unabridged, on cassette, but have not had time to go through every cassette. That is my next goal.
I frequent TORN, but don't post.
Like many of you, Dominic Monaghan was my reason for following the LOST website, and ultimately watching. What a talent. What a cutie. And now I am in love with Charlie and Claire.

Long time LOTR fan, and member of thecouncilofelrond.com (user name: "samandfrodoforever"), but it's sort of a dictatorship, so I stopped posting there (they were upset that I believe Sam and Frodo are more than friends). I'm really pissed I can't watch ROTK EE until Xmas (present from my mom), I'm touching the wrapped box right now! I own the Alan Lee illustrated hard cover set of the trilogy, it's among my most cherished possessions. I also have a collection of small members of the fellowship figurines, including Bill the Pony. Also the action figures of Sam and Frodo in their Orc gear. A LOTR jigsaw puzzle, and a huge fantasy collage in my old bedroom. Other fantasy obsessions include The Last Unicorn, The Chronicles of Narnia, and Harry Potter (I'm a Snape freak, but Hermionie is my favorite Hogwart's student). My favorite characters from LOTR are Gandalf, Sam, Frodo, and Faramir (book versions, I love all the characters though). I've seen all the films more times than I can count. I also saw the LOTR exhibit in Boston, which was awesome! When I stood on the thing that calculates what LOTR creature you are it said I could be an elf, a wizard (!), or a man. I was like in your face 8 year old boys (there was a long line of them)! Oh wow I shouldn't be such a nerd, I'm 21! Time to grow up...
I was an elf for Halloween:

P.S. I'm not a Dom freak, not that I have anything against people who love Dom... I don't have a crush on any of the actors from LOTR, except Sean Bean! I love him. I started watching LOST because I thought it looked interesting (and fortunately I HAD to tape it because it conflicted with another show I watch, so now I have all th eps on tape), and I used to be (5th grade) a huge Matthew fox fan. I had a huge poster of him in my room *hides face in shame*.

Thanks!
The exhibit was really cool, but no pictures were allowed which was sort of dissapointing. The best thing they had was the dead Boromir dummy in the boat, it looked so real! Also the lifesize Treebeard and Sauron were neat. All the costumes (they has two Arwen dresses, and I think that would piss off anyone who actually read the books!), the armor, weapons, props, "the ring", etc were all great to see in person. The best thing besides Boromir in my opinion was Galadriel's dress, which was breathtaking. But again no pictures... and they didn't even sell postcards or anything! And you are limited to an hour while in the exhibit! And all the children running about were annoying. The whole thing was a good experience overall, and the layout was great. I'm sure I'll always remember the exhibit. I'm very sad the LOTR craze is over, I just have to watch the EE ROTK and it'll be officially done... :( You can never read the books for the first time, or watch the films for the first time, those experiences are golden. I'm sure I'll never forget the period of my life where everything revolved around LOTR!, and I wish I could live it over and over again... obsessive? Who cares, I had a great time while it lasted. Let's hope "The Hobbit" gets made! And they better have Ian McKellen play Gandalf! No one could play the role as well as he did. Sorry I ramble. Thanks for the compliment again.

The Exhibit sounds really cool, glad you had a good time, and yes... like Jek said your art is very good. You have a really great use of color going, and it's quite realistic. Well done.

I got the extended version ROTK for Christmas, and it's great! It was good to see some resolution of the Saruman issue. Even though he dies at Orthanc, the whole scene is pretty similar to what happens in the books - Grima still stabs him.
