Ok, I haven't purchased it but I made sure I was up in time this morning to go rent it. A friend of mine is giving it to me for Christmas, but there's NO WAY I could wait 11 days to watch it. So this morning while I was baking cookies I watched it, and let me tell you it was like watching a whole different movie.
What follows is my review and comments of ROTK:EE if you do not wish to be spoiled please turn away now.

ok then you asked for it
This one really had a different feel than the last two extended editions probably cuz they were all pretty much caps. Icing on the cake if you will. The first two EEs gave you more insight into the next film that was to come, but this one, there was nothing else to look forward to. :( That being said, however, the scenes I found the most enjoyable were: Legolas' and Gimli's drinking game :lol , Merry kicking Orc butt at the battle of Pelennor, and by far my favorite were the scenes at the houses of healing between Eowyn and Faramir. Soooo touching! I was jumping up and down with excitment, their story was so well written in the book they became my favorite couple. There was also one more tearjerker moment thrown in for me. When Eomer finds the dying Eowyn, his cries were so real... uh... I'm getting choked up just thinking about it.
Anywho, that's my review of the FINAL Lord of the Rings film. I am so sad that there won't be anymore, we can only hope that Peter Jackson will get to make the Hobbitt, then having Ian Mckellen back as Gandalf would be a nice consolation prize. :)
