I am a college student who doen't recieve any type of financial aid (just can't get it for some reason)I pay for school out of my own pocket and with my parents help, but recenlty (over the holidays) I lost a job and am currently seeking employment. I just checked my bank account so that I can go see a movie and was totally shocked when I saw the amount left - $4.24 I am currently enrolled in three classes and have not even purchased the textbooks. I do not know how I will make it without the finances that I need.I ask you to pray for me and keep me in your thought because what I need right now is a miracle to turn that four dollars into something useful. I hope you are with me because I cannot do this alone. There is so many other things I worry about like transportation, friendship,my lovelife, and my cutting problem- I really do need this much stress. Last semester I barely passed a class because I did not have a book. Please pray for me - whatever your belief is, please help me, think of me. I just don't know what to do anymore.

SawyersMuse if you email me at my ezboard inbox & let me know a little more detail about your situation I may be able to help you brainstorm some plans. I have been able to help several young ladies that worked for me and had difficulties of the sort you're facing.

In terms of books, most universities have copies of your text books in the library and most profs put all the necessary reading material on reserve, so you're guaranteed access at some point. Also, ask around and see if anyone has recently taken the course and not gotten rid of the texts.

I know people who've gone through courses without ever buying a single book.

Your school should also have a counseling and development centre and career centre. You can do free seminars on financial planning at the c&d centre (as well as addressing whatever other needs you may have) and you can browse jobs at your careers centre.

While prayer is valuable, maybe you should consider being a bit more proactive.

Thanks for the advice , but being that it's my 3rd semester I have already done that- the shchool is no help to me at all, I will keep looking for jobs for as long as I can. I also have asked around about books- I think I may be able to borrow an book for my english class, but my education class is a different story, but thank you anyway.

Thanks to evryone who replied you thoughts and prayers and advice are much needed here.
