So...what kind of music do Lost fans listen to? Feel free to list genres, bands, songs, links, whatever. I'll put up my specific favorites later, but generally I like most types of music, except country, "adult contemporary," and banda, and even then a few songs from those genres are okay. I listen to stuff from all over the world: Japan, Brasil, Latin America, some from the Philippines, Africa, etc.

How about you?

Here are some musicians/singers/performers/songwriters/composers/whatevers that I like. They are not in order of artistic value.

The Beatles
Evanescence
Stephen Sondheim -he wrote my favorite musical, "Into the Woods"
U2
Rasputina- that pilgrim/pioneer/cannibal song blew my mind...
OutKast
N.E.R.D./ the Neptunes
Santana
Nina Sky -now, if we could only have the reggaeton beat without the icky lyrics...but these girls keep the guys in check.
Elefante
Shakira- she can dance, sing, and play the guitar (electric and acoustic), drums, and harmonica! While her songs have a good beat and are well performed (better in Spanish), they need more substance, though.
Celia Cruz- que en paz descanse
Olga Tanon
Los Fabulosos Cadillacs- okay, I've only heard "Matador," but that's a cool song
Ricky Martin -dance songs and "Vuelve" only, though
Gackt and GacktJOB
L'Arc-en-ciel
Juanes -though his voice could be annoying sometimes
Dir en Grey (aka Diru, DEG)- I bet Charlie the Hobbit wished he could have had the same admiration as people do for the amazing Diru bassist Toshiya. Go Totchi-chan!
Malice Mizer -though I heard that Mana is kind of a tyrant
Ken Hirai - acapella, his songs are kind of bland but he's a very good acapella singer
Shiina Ringo- usually I don't like nasal voices like hers, but songs like "Tsume no Batsu" and "Identity" show how her voice can fit the song perfectly in emotion and sound.
Astor Piazzolla- Tango music rocks.
Linkin Park
Os Mutantes
Caetano Veloso
Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, and all the other Latin jazz greats
Yoko Kanno and Tsuneo Imahori (for their separate works and their group, Seatbelts)
Cheb Mami
Sting
Jimi Hendrix
No Doubt
George and Ira Gershwin
Classical composers like Vivaldi, Bartok, Stravinsky
Earth, Wind, and Fire

Somewhat like, but need to hear more of: Kagerou, Onmyouza, Kagrra, Mika Nakashima, Black-Eyed Peas, Gipsy Kings, Hide (from X-Japan), Kronos Quartet, Sean Paul, David Byrne, Bright Eyes, the Gotan Project, the White Stripes, Dreams Come True, Diana Krall, GLAY, Ciara, Don Omar, Le Tigre, TENSION

And don't forget Driveshaft!

Irish traditional music! The pure stuff, or the Afro-Celt Sound System "world music" fusion variety. I love it all...

TT

I heard Creed and Alterbridge were basically the same band, but with a different lead singer.

Is that true?

I heard Creed and Alterbridge were basically the same band, but with a different lead singer.

Well it's partly true. Three of the members were originally members of Creed. HOWEVER the music is pretty different, it's much harder. It's a NEW band going in a new direction, and they are trying to get away from the negative publicity surrounding Creed (mainly caused by one person). Some of the songs sound similar, because it is Mark Tremonti playing guitar. Stapp was so concerned with selling commercial friendly albums that Tremonti wasn't free to really play guitar. He has a lot of cool guitar solos on the Alter Bridge CD.

The really cool thing is, they are touring the country playing in small clubs because it's fun and they want to be close to their fans! They have all the money they could possibly want...they are enjoying the tour and meeting with fans at every gig!

The new singer is from the Mayfield Four. If you saw the movie Rock Star, he's the guy they pull up on stage at the end of the movie. He is a trained vocalist and he has an amazing vocal range, a lot of people compare him to Chris Cornell.

If you want to hear any songs, or see live videos I'll hook you up... ;)
