Right now, the Lost-TV EZBoard is a Gold Community. This means that the board has no annoying advertisements, as well as a bunch of perks such as our lovely chat room. However, in order to keep it Gold, money must be paid.
The cost of keeping the board Gold is based on bandwidth used, determined by the number of people visiting the site. Since these boards are one of the premiere discussion boards for the show, traffic is pretty high, which means bandwidth is pretty high, and as a result, the cost of keeping the boards Gold is pretty high. That amount (around $1500 at this point) cannot be paid by one person alone.

This is where you come in. The Lost-TV EZBoard is a community, and as such, we believe that keeping this community alive and kicking should not lie in the hands of a single person, nor should it fall to the website team. This community can only be kept alive by the members of the community.
There are several ways you can do to help keep our community alive and ad-free. Here are some of those options.
1. Donate to the community chest. On the forum list, there's a red chest at the top of the page. That is the community chest. Basically, you can donate any amount of money which will be used to pay for the renewal costs. If all active members donate even just $1 every month, then we'll probably be able to reach our goal (or at least get really close). EZBoard provides instructions for this.
2. Become an EZSupporter. See that Gold Icon to the left of my nickname? That means I'm an EZSupporter. An EZSupporter basically pays a fee to EZBoard which gives him or her access to special features, such as a custom profile page as well as no ads across ALL EZBoards. Also, EZSupporter page views and posts DO NOT count towards the Gold Community fee, which reduces costs (or at least prevents it from going any higher). For frequent posters and lurkers, this may be a good option for you.
3. Accept a free EZBoard offer. If your pockets are bare and you can't even afford to pay attention, check out one of the sponsorship offers (http://p073.ezboard.com/blosttheunofficalforumfortheabcseries.showCCOffers ) EZBoard makes available. All you have to do is fulfill the terms of the offer, and the corporate fat cats make a donation to the board in your name. You get something for nothing, the board gets something in your name, you make the man's wallet lighter. What could be better than that?
4. Read before posting. This is something a little more within your control. Before posting ANYTHING on these boards, please make sure that someone else hasn't mentioned it yet somewhere else. I know you're all eager to pipe in, but it's a waste of bandwidth if you create a new post/thread for something which has been discussed several times before. So please, try to check if someone else hasn't discussed it already before posting your "new and never-before posted theory."

A committee has been formed to encourage people to join ezboard as paid members. They will be contacting frequent posters who are not paid members to ask if they would please join. Their memberships go to our coffers and keep us alive!

There are, however a body of people who either don't have credit cards or who are nervous about on line transactions. Towards that end, paid ezboard members are willing to accept either checks or paypal and then buy the membership for that person. Ezboard supporters can only buy a certain number of memberships, so once the quota is filled for a paid member, others will be rotated in.
The other thing you can do is pay for someone's membership if someone pays for yours (a gift for a gift). If such an exchange is offered, please honor it. We're all going on faith here!!!
The committee will be in charge of asking paid members to help out. It is NOT a requirement to participate in this. We recognize that accepting money from total strangers is as risky as sending it to total strangers. We also recognize that not all posters can afford to do this.
Members will provide their mailing addreses BY PM OR EMAIL ONLY. Do NOT trade private information on the board.
