Well folks, its about that time again. The time when you distract your boss long enough to use the office copier to make dozens of basketball brackets and thursday and friday are spent huddled around the clock radio in the breakroom. Thats right! It's NCAA tournament time and everyone from high stakes bookies to the middle-aged housewife fill out that little old bracket of 64 (I hate the play-in game!) and root like hell for that one sleeper pick of yours to make it to the Sweet Sixsteen!

This is the official 2006 NCAA Tourny thread and everything collegebasketball related should go here. So, I shall say let the fireworks begin and lets go INDIANA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UConn, Duke, Villanova and Memphis as the #1 seeds. Can anyone say 2006 NCAA Champion Connecticut Huskies?? They have a free ride to the Final Four.

As a Tarheel fan, I am very happy of their turnout this year. Just getting invited after losing 7 players is a mighty fine task. Crandy, you may be right about the 4 #1 seeds having a free ride. However, I only see Villanova and UConn actually making it to the final four. Duke is starting to break down (BC can take them and almost did over the weekend. If Duke plays like they have the past two weeks, I smell upset.) and Memphis may actually get scared going deeper into the tournament.

Went 25-7 first round..

10-6 second round...

I have Duke, Gonzaga, UConn and Villanova in the Final Four,

Duke v. Nova for the championship..

and Villanova to win it all.

Anyone doing better? Worse?

Today was brutal, with both UNC and Pitt losing to jokers like George Mason and Bradley. Discuss.

Hey lawn_boy. I'm going to move this to the Lostaways area of the board where everything except LOST is discussed. I'm sure it'll get much more attention there.

My brackets are fine, but I'm having some trouble with my hinges.

My bad, Leuthen. I never really knew if GD was for General-Lost or General-General discussion, so I went out on a limb.

Mine suck. I have only 8 of my sweet 16 picks.

How are your brackets...

That's kind of a personal question, isn't it? ;)

Very similar to yours lawn_boy, except Duke vs. UConn, and of course Duke to win it all :)

ha, my son was looking over my shoulder, saw this topic and goes, so they have a "talk" about people w/ braces like me??

I have 10 left for the sweet 16. George Mason killed me twice and Tennessee didn't deserve a number 2 seed, IMO. As long as Dookie gets taken out next, I will be alright.

Every time Dook loses a kitten is saved from extinction.

That's why they need to lose more. SAVE THE KITTENS!!!

Pandora:

I hate to say this but Duke's losing so made up for the total collapse of the Big Ten. I laughed and laughed.

Anybody have a favorite team remaining in the tournament? I dont. I need to adopt one.

Waahhhhh!!! *Sigghhhhhh* :sorry: :pissed: :wolf: :sigh:

OK, I've gotten over it now.... we'll be back next year.

I guess I'll have to go with the locals (GMU & Georgetown) now.... no good Cinderellas (unless you count Boston College)...

It just won't be the same  I think I'll just return to CBS for Survivor only.

Merged, and my brackets still suck (I had the Dukies winning it all).

I kind of thought that Duke would not win it all. Neither Duke nor Connecticut were entirely dominant eventhough they were jockeying for #1. There are always weaknesses. The right match ups and inspired play by lesser opponents weave different outcomes for those expected to win it all. Last I saw Connecticut was behind Washington and Villanova outlasted BC in OT. Anybody can win. Anybody can lose. The Big Ten must work next season on making all their teams stronger because they tend to succeed or fall together. Last season many teams. This season---none! But as I said Duke lost so cosmic justice has been restored.

there are only 2 people remaining in my pool that have all 4 final four teams left. I am one of those people. Nova, UCLA, LSU and UCONN (huge scare last night for the Huskies). Nova over LSU in the final game.

BC should have won that game last night against Villa. They won't get farther playing that sucky. UConn got some lucky breaks last night, but my money is still on them winning it all. UCLA is a tough opponent as well as LSU. I can't believe George Mason (an 11 seed) is still working it. Good for them.

Well, now that Uconn lost, I only have one team remaining in the final four- Villanova. Sad thing is, that's actually better than most people in my pool.

You know, I don't think that George Mason agrees. I'm looking for UCLA since everyone else in my brackett is gone. If it's not them then I hope it's George Mason, just because they deserve this one.

I don't know which is more satisfying, All the #1 seeds gone or all the Big East teams gone.

Go Bruins.

I personally blame Greg Doyle of cbssportsline.com who said that this year there wouldn't be any upsets! That effin' moron. He also said that Texas Tech would only have 2 losses entering Big12 play. So much for that.

On a personal note. I absolutely despise the hiring of Kelvin Sampson for the Indiana job. My God!

Great run for George Mason. They should be proud.

I agree. Well done, GMU.

Now, Florida vs UCLA..

Gotta stay with the Bruins on this one.
