It's the same as if one of us were to go into - if there is one - a Pro-Jate club and start posting pictures of Sawyer and Kate kissing and taunting ya'll. Can we please not start a war here? If you want a war, go debate in the big "Jate/Skate Debate" thing and leave us here to hate. If you don't like that we hate Jate, well too bad, or leave. Everyone has their own opinion. I just ask you to not start a war and leave the taunting back in the 3rd grade where it belongs.

Nooooope. Kate and Sawyer's kiss was so much better than the Kate and Jack. It seemed to me that the Jate kiss was just out of confusion. She was upset, didn't know what to do, and just wanted to be comforted. And Jack was there. Still gives no meaning to the kiss though. Not that the Skate kiss had meaning anyway. Why take offense? Why take it personally? Why not laugh at this and take it for the joke that it is? Because that's all it is...SareBear understood and her reaction was different..she was funny (she made that joke about vomiting and made me laugh) and instead of complaining posted Skate pictures with her own captions which I took no offense to..and if she posted them on a Jate thread I still wouldn't take offense because it would be done in a spirit of fun (I assume).

There were no personal attacks in my post...no one's posts were made fun of..What I did was show my support for Jate and I did it with pics and TRIED to be comical about it..I don't care if you love Skate or hate Jate or love Sincent or prefer Jocke..

My intention was just to have fun with this debate about who we think Kate should end up with...I enjoy reading most of the posts whether they're for Skate or Jate...I find the fact that people have such strong opinions(including myself) both fascinating and comical..your comments add to my fascination...because it is JUST a show...why do we have a vested interest in who ends up a couple??

I could complain that the existence of a club called the "Jate Hate Club" is taunting, starting a war and egging us Jaters on. But I recognize that it exists out of a spirit of entertainment and even if that weren't the case I wouldn't be bothered because I am secure in my Jateness...;)

And lastly, there aren't rules about who can and can't post in specific threads.

PabloCruiseTX you have every right to post those pictures and we completly understand that you just want to support your love for Jate and I have no problem with that.
However, even though you can post the pictures here it makes us feel offended and I know that you just mean it as a joke. But you don't see us going into a Jate support club and posting pictures there, because we know that is rude and makes us look like bashers, even thought we just want to support our shipper. (BTW: If there are any Skaters out there that do those things take a note that we are not responsible for them)
So really my point is that it's just plain rude to post pictures of a ship we don't like in our club.

Me too. It would serve her right. My ideal ending for the show, the last scene, would be the rescue boat sailing off with the Others all gone and nobody left on the island except Kate who can't go back because of a 1st degree murder rap sitting watching them all leave and knowing that nobody is ever going to find the island again so she'll never have anyone to play her little manipulation games on except Smokie, and Jack and Sawyer will be going back to the World never to have to deal with her again.

That pic of Evie and Josh just makes me thing that they've been spending way too much time in tropical sunshine. Sort of the way all of the characters except those with a naturally high skin melanin content should be looking. Plus they both have really dopey smiles going on.

Evidence? The evening before, after Kate went off on the mission with Jack, we see a pretty lonely looking Sawyer eating the mussels Kate had been digging earlier, but with seemingly little appetite. The next day, he's out picking fruit all by himself, brooding because she's still not back yet, and irritating fact he quickly mentions to Ana. Ana calls him on it immediately, implying he's just jealous of Jack being out with Kate and don't take it out on her. He gets ticked at her for seeing through him.

Later, when he's sitting there minding his own damned business reading, Jack shows up for a confrontation bringing along Locke and... Oh look, Kate! What? Does EVERYBODY see through him now where his feeling s for Kate are concerned? And worse, Jack thinks he can USE that, think he's going to roll over like a good dog just because Kate asks him to? So he says, Nuh-uh, that's NOT going to work. "She ain't in my head." He's struggling, but it's too late. Kate already owns him, totally. Not that he's ready, willing, or able to admit that to anybody, including himself.

P.S. Count me firmly in the Skate column. AFAIC, Jate isn't Fate, Jate nauseates. Jack's way of withholding approval, of making her feel inferior, really annoys me. When he let his pissiness at her take precendence over comforting her after her release in THP, that was the final straw. He wouldn't even look straight at her, for pity's sake. He withholds approval, and she turns into a pathetic puppy dog who desperately needs a pat on the head. It's an "unappealing" dynamic, which is exactly how Evie herself described it in the U.K. Elle article.

Skate all the way! Of course, both Sawyer and Kate have to get their heads out of their asses first, but we've hopefully got a few seasons yet. Could happen. SHOULD happen. :D

I have an example of Jack doing the opposite and it involves the very essence of who Kate is and his deep respect for her in spite of the transgression he knows she committed in the past: Jack didn’t tell a single soul on the island about Kate’s mug shot and her past. He respected her privacy and respected her right to decide to tell him when she wanted to. He wanted to know so badly but he waited. Kate even told Sun something to the effect of, “Jack can keep a secret well.” He basically told Hurley to mind his own damned business about it too. And it was Jack who told Kate her past didn’t matter anymore and that everyone, including her, had a new start. He gave her support and reassurance that she needed. Not once has he thrown her past in her face. On the contrary, in spite of it, he cares for her. His actions contradict the claim that he thinks Kate is inferior and needs his approval.

Who was it who, loud and clear for all to hear, blabbed Kate’s past to everyone and did so out of his own self-interest (he wanted a spot on the raft)? Sawyer! What he did in those moments was far, far worse than anything Jack has allegedly done to Kate. Just as he takes things (stealing) that aren’t his, he took her right to keep her past private and to share it on her terms and squashed it just like he squashed that poor little frog. He, in effect, stole her right to privacy and right to share her past on her terms. He totally and completely embarrassed her. And like a gambler on a roll, he reads the PRIVATE messages in the bottle while on the raft…what a guy…Out of curiosity, why is the reaction to Jack’s flaws and actions much more intense than to Sawyer’s when Sawyer’s flaws and actions take the gold prize for worst between the two? You have a guy who has been a parasite on society no matter what his reasons are and yet his misdeeds are overlooked. Yet if Jack so much as sneezes green mucous he is villified...;)

He was upset she had placed herself in danger. HE CARES ABOUT HER. He was also upset she put the hunting parting in danger. On top of that, he was upset she ruined the advantage they had or seemingly had over Zeke and his gang. Because she tagged along, they lost that advantage. That’s why he was upset. It wasn’t because of his lack of concern for her or because of his supposed superiority complex or whatever some Skaters think Jack suffers from. As leader of the survivors he was pissed and he had the right to be! Kate was penitent, not because she is a puppy dog, but because she knew she had made a mistake.

He withholds approval, and she turns into a pathetic puppy dog who desperately needs a pat on the head.When has he ever withheld approval?? Over what has he held approval? Do you have examples? Kate acting like a puppy dog? No way! That’s not her at all. She’s strong! The dynamic here is that Kate respects and admires Jack and wishes she was more like him. And she cares about him. In one respect, she’s like a girlfriend who doesn't want to disappoint her boyfriend. But not in a subservient manner. Another major point here is that Kate feels she isn’t good enough for Jack but that doesn’t come from Jack. All of that comes from within Kate because of all her past transgressions. She compares herself to Jack and in so doing is very aware of her inadequacies. But Jack isn't perfect. In time the writers will probably give us a flashback or two showing HIS past transgressions. She wrongly feels she doesn’t deserve him. But if she would open her eyes she would see that Jack accepts her. He definitely does. With all that he knows about her past: that she killed the man she loved (he thinks this because of what she told him) and that she has lied to him (the key), he still cares for her. Before they kissed, she told him something to the effect of “I’m not as perfect as you.” That revealed her thoughts about herself in relation to Jack. Again, this isn’t coming from Jack. He hasn’t done anything to indicate he thinks she is inferior. Those feelings of inferiority come from within her. What did Jack do or say? He looked at her incredulously saying with his expression, “What?? I don’t think you are inferior!” All he wants is to be able to trust her. That’s his issue with Kate. That’s why he was so hurt when she tried to sneak the key by him. I think once she realizes she is good enough for him and realizes Jack cares for her, we might be seeing a Jate love affair!

One last thing to add...think back to what Jack said to Kate by the water in the caves in Season 1...Jack had helped Sawyer with his headaches and Kate thanked him...Jack said, "I didn't do it for him." He did it for Kate because he knew she wanted it done. He suspected she had feelings for Sawyer.

Now if Jack is such an a :censored: le to Kate, why did he say that? Why did he do that for her?

Maybe I missed the episode where Sawyer and Kate exchanged class rings and made a promise to each other to stay faithful. Sawyer and Kate have never done anything like that, its not like they are married. If Kate is too busy making googly eyes at Jack and wants to follow him around like a puppy dog eveytime he even so much as looks in her direction, so think for a second Sawyer is going to play second fiddle or wait until she's on the outs with Jack again for her to start paying attention to Sawyer again. I personally didn't like the Sana sex scene for a variety of reasons, but it was only sex for Sawyer. The scene was totally in character for him. Sawyer has the right to do whatever the heck he wants to do. He doesn't owe Kate anything.

I have to say, I was just watching the first five or six episodes from Season 1 and Kate was a way cooler character then... she had a mind of her own, she led missions, people looked up to her. She actually got stuff done. This season it's like she's slipped down into the "good little woman" role, obeying the men and staying at home to cook, clean, and look after the Losties. It's so annoying and I really hope that TPTB start bringing the old Kate back. That's why I can't stand the thought of a Kate/Jack relationship; all he'll do is encourage her current actions and that definitely needs to NOT happen.

I rarely argue with many people on the subject of Jate and Skate anymore, at least in life. On internet..well..it depends who you are. But most often, when the subject of the kiss comes up, I really just HAVE to argue. Because that Jate kiss, was too...Jack. For a lack of a better description...Whereas the Skate kiss was just full of passion. There is no way anyone could say the Jate kiss was better. And if they did, I've come to the conclusion that they'll only say that because it was JATE. They'll only argue for it, because it was JATE, right? Anyway...

I agree! I've noticed that too! I took notice and even Kate's hair has grown too. Then again, Locke files into that same category with Jack. But then again, Locke is old and probably balding. So...that doesn't count. But he's the only one that has the short hair. It's so freaking baffling! lol

Oh how I agree! It isn't the fact that Jack and Kate don't look right together. And I'll even admit because its true they DO have chemistry. But the relationship between them is so sickening. It's like a father-daughter relationship. Or perhaps sister-brother. I see no love in it. Flirtation, sure. But it's more of a lust than love. And I can't stand to see Kate so degraded by him. I also have to agree that TBTP has changed her character so much. And I liked her better in the first season too! (Same with Locke, but the finale made me like him again.) I don't like that she's been turned into what she has. That's what makes me like her better with Sawyer. Because he doesn't degrade her. They work together. You saw how they did in the finale. She asked him, but not Jack. Because Jack would screw it up. And he did, but that's beside the point. Anyway...I'll finish my rambling now.

If people would take the time to stop scrambling for any little shipper clues they can get, real or not, and just focus on the scene itself, they'd see things a lot clearer. Although it is good that we've got such a variety of people here; makes for some interesting threads and some-- um-- unique ideas. Like my personal favorite, the Michael/Sayid secret blinking message thread. Fantastic!

On the topic of which kiss was better, I think I would say the Jack/Kate one. NOT just because I'm a jate fan, but the fact that with Sawyer, she didnt' have a choice very much - she could let shannon die or she could just kiss him and get it 'over and done with'. However, when she kissed Jack it was because she wanted to and she had no-one to turn to when she was upset. Jack was too overwhelmed by it so he didnt do or say anything for like 9 episodes but now they've adressed their issues they may be able to sort it out. Sorry if i'm being too jatey here! The show writers are good though. Has anyone noticed how whenever a Skate thing happens in an episode and all skate fans are jumping about but then there's a jate moment at the end? Take the episode 'the moth' from series 1. Sawyer talks to Kate about Jack being the person 'who maes her loins go weak' and you can tell he's jealous. Then, she is very worried that jack mite be trapped in a cave, and she hugs jack at the end. Then, the episode where kate kisses jack BUT she says she 'feels something for sawyer' sometimes. It's a way of trying to confuse us!! lol

As far as Kate kissing Sawyer under duress during the inhaler incident: it may have started as a "forced" kiss, but the girl got INTO it! I think she was having feelings/attraction to Sawyer before that, but had reservations about them since Sawyer was a "bad boy." And really, show me any woman who likes being told what to do. However, once she started to kiss him, their natural chemistry took over and the feelings that they were starting to have for each other began to surface. You could tell when it ended that both of them were affected, and not just physically. It was as if, for a moment, all barriers were down between them.

When Kate kissed Jack, she was in such a state of emotional turmoil over Sawyer's condition and her hallucinations (if that's what they were) that she would have kissed Arzt (were he still alive) in her confusion. I really think it had little do do with any feelings for Jack, but rather simply that he happened to be there and she thinks of him as a friend. Later on when Kate said that she regretted kissing Jack, I think that she really did regret it. She doesn't want to lead him on. In that light, I actually feel kind of sorry for Jack when he said that he didn't regret it.

In The Moth, the episode right before the one with The Kiss, Sawyer was probably a little jealous that Kate was spending time with Jack and feeling a little inferior to him (just like Kate does). After all, at this point, just about everyone is looking to Jack for guidance and Kate had just finished telling Sawyer that she pittied him because nobody was missing him in the real world. Sawyer was probably a little hurt that Kate couldn't see beyond his bravado and image that he's cultivating as a bas***d to realize that underneath it all, he isn't a bad guy and really ISN'T that different from Jack. Sawyer wants to hurt her back so withholds and then springs on her the news that Jack is stuck in a cave-in. Thus the "Look at the bright side, now you have someone else to pity" remark. As far as Kate hugging Jack at the end, it is not a romantic hug. She's happy that her friend is alive after being dug out of the cave-in. It's not a Jate moment at all, IMO.

Jate will never be anything more than Kate thinking Jack is a nice guy that she SHOULD be interested in and Jack thinking she's a pretty nice, very beautiful woman who has an unfortunate past that makes her just a little beneath him.

Skate is a complex love story with lots of baggage to work through, but underneath it all genuine caring and chemistry. Great viewing for us and hopefully a happy ending for them by the end of the series (after many more years, hopefully). And I'm not at all confused. Sawyer and Kate belong together.

Anyway, that's my $.02.

I don't think any kiss is better or worse because of the reasons for it - the action i.e. the kiss - speaks louder than the 'reasons' in the case of the Skate kiss - I know if I was 'forced' to kiss someone under the same circumstances I would keep it as short as possible with as little passion as possible if I didn't like it or the person involved! As it appeared, that definitely wasn't the case for either Kate or Sawyer, I'm sure a lot would agree!
I agree with all Superpally says too. Kate did seem to be confused at the time she kissed Jack, & also I have to say I don't know how anyone - whether a Jater or Skater, could call it a better kiss than the Skate kiss - if I was a Jate fan, I think I'd still have to say the Skate kiss was a zillion times better :heartpump !
As for the writers showing Jate 'moments' as well as Skate 'moments', I think they are good in that they are trying to keep us all either happy & glued to our screens and/or they're enjoying the arguments between the Jaters and Skaters here too much!! Keeps us all watching in the meantime anyway - though I have to say if Skate doesn't show signs of staying power etc in Season 3, I'm not sure I'll want to keep watching then ... :sadwalk:

I'm pretty sure that they have made the decision that the triangle is going to be one of the ongoing concerns throughout the run of the show, however many seasons it lasts, mSF. What that means for us is that we can expect no resolution of the situation, so yeah, I think you are right. TPTB are gonna be enjoying watching the Jaters and Skaters in action for a long time.

Hey...Someone who agrees with my basic thesis. FYI, hatesKate it's that Jack and Sawyer would be able to cooperate and get stuff done if Kate weren't playing her little games with them. Wait until Jack tries whatever it is he has planned and Kate f...s it up. As far as Kate kissing Sawyer under duress during the inhaler incident: it may have started as a "forced" kiss, but the girl got INTO it! I think she was having feelings/attraction to Sawyer before that, but had reservations about them since Sawyer was a "bad boy." And really, show me any woman who likes being told what to do. However, once she started to kiss him, their natural chemistry took over and the feelings that they were starting to have for each other began to surface. You could tell when it ended that both of them were affected, and not just physically. It was as if, for a moment, all barriers were down between them.

When Kate kissed Jack, she was in such a state of emotional turmoil over Sawyer's condition and her hallucinations (if that's what they were) that she would have kissed Arzt (were he still alive) in her confusion. I really think it had little do do with any feelings for Jack, but rather simply that he happened to be there and she thinks of him as a friend. Later on when Kate said that she regretted kissing Jack, I think that she really did regret it. She doesn't want to lead him on. In that light, I actually feel kind of sorry for Jack when he said that he didn't regret it.

In The Moth, the episode right before the one with The Kiss, Sawyer was probably a little jealous that Kate was spending time with Jack and feeling a little inferior to him (just like Kate does). After all, at this point, just about everyone is looking to Jack for guidance and Kate had just finished telling Sawyer that she pittied him because nobody was missing him in the real world. Sawyer was probably a little hurt that Kate couldn't see beyond his bravado and image that he's cultivating as a bas***d to realize that underneath it all, he isn't a bad guy and really ISN'T that different from Jack. Sawyer wants to hurt her back so withholds and then springs on her the news that Jack is stuck in a cave-in. Thus the "Look at the bright side, now you have someone else to pity" remark. As far as Kate hugging Jack at the end, it is not a romantic hug. She's happy that her friend is alive after being dug out of the cave-in. It's not a Jate moment at all, IMO.

Jate will never be anything more than Kate thinking Jack is a nice guy that she SHOULD be interested in and Jack thinking she's a pretty nice, very beautiful woman who has an unfortunate past that makes her just a little beneath him.

Skate is a complex love story with lots of baggage to work through, but underneath it all genuine caring and chemistry. Great viewing for us and hopefully a happy ending for them by the end of the series (after many more years, hopefully). And I'm not at all confused. Sawyer and Kate belong together.

Anyway, that's my $.02.

Sawyer just seems like one of those characters who Kate's character would immediatly fall for because he's a 'bad boy' as you said. But you can't disregard all the jate moments and say they're 'just friends'. Okay, maybe the hug wasn't romantic, but I think the reason Kate apologised when she kissed Jack was because he'd been giving her the cold shoulder for a reason she didn't know why and was desperate for him to talk to her normally again. And then she says "I'm flattered you asked me into the jungle with you." So that means she's glad he's "finally talking to her again". And then later on they have a little moment because after he says he doesn't regret the kiss they stare into each others eyes....
And also, what about Ana-Lucia and Sawyer? I know he doesn't care about her really and she's dead but it still happened. I wonder what Kate will do if she finds out. Maybe Sawyer will tell her to make her jealous..
Anyway, this is just my view, you don't have to listen to me because I know this forum is a Skate-central forum. :P

I personally think that Jack will tell her in one of his pissy moments when he's jealous/offended/angry/all of the above, like he did with Sawyer-- "Yeah. I know. You love her." Sawyer could have told her when she asked specifically about it, but he didn't. Obviously he doesn't want her knowing. I was kind of surprised they didn't show her finding out this season, since I was hoping we'd be DONE with the AnaL topic by next season. Undoubtedly she'll find out... I'm guessing the only reason they worked the gun stealing scene that way was to add some MORE drama to the triangle... otherwise they could've resorted to their old fallback, Ana Lucia sneaking up on Sawyer and knocking him unconscious.

That really makes sense to me. TPTB have stated (if you believe anything they say) that the interpersonal relationships among the Losties are much more important to the show's story developement than all the DHARMA, smokie, hatches, etc. All of that stuff is really window dressing, antagonistic situations the the protagonists, our Losties, to overcome, and they way they well do that is to solve the internal strife of a bunch of complete strangers thrown together in a mysterious circumstance.

So far as shipping is concerned, I take this as meaning that the triangle and the Charlie/Claire ship, which looks as if it might be on again, are actually very important elements to the storyline.

I am wondering the REAL TPTB reason for Kate Jack and Sawyer were taken to be with the Others was to get the triangle some more action. Now, its just the three of them. They may be locked up together with nothing better to do than talk. Or do something else...

Of course. Because most people love drama and romance and triangles and constantly effing around with them is drama at its finest. I'm not upset to hear that there'll be more focus on the relationships next season, however I think that most of us really want to know the rest of the show. At least that's my opinion.

I'm sorry to tell you that I actually can disregard all the Jate moments, because I really don't see them. And I truly don't mean that in a snotty way. There is no spark between them in my opinion. It's like watching brother & sister flirt with each other to me, and you know how appealing THAT is. :rolleyez: I think that Kate WANTS to have more feelings for Jack than friendship, but she just doesn't. Sawyer is where her heart lies. And when she says that she's "flattered" that Jack asked her to go with him into the jungle, it turns my stomach, quite frankly. It makes Kate seem pathetic and needy to me. Makes me want to slap her. Again, just my opinion.

The situation with Ana & Sawyer was an unfortunate incident. It was just physical and only because Ana wanted his gun (ok, maybe his hot bod too, she was only human:) ). That said, I do think that it will affect a Skate relationship, I'm just not sure how yet. But you're right, he didn't really care about Ana and that will have to be worked out between Kate & Sawyer at some point even though Ana is no longer around.

It appears that this is an opinion that we will just have to agree to disagree on. And you are more than welcome to voice your opinions on the Skate thread as far as I'm concerned. Good debate will make the long Lost-less summer go by faster. :thumbs_up

I seriously, seriously doubt TPTB are going to have Kate pick ANYONE for a very long time. The tension between those three is what keeps a lot of shippers on edge, picking every single scene apart and fighting amongst themselves. It's why a lot of casual viewers tune in. Why ruin a good thing? If they have Kate definitively pick one or the other, they've lost the element of suspense. It'd basically be... "okay, Kate's with this person... now what? They get a cave together? Get Eko to marry them?" It'd turn into just another soap opera. No, I don't think they're going to end the triangle until the last few episodes, whenever that may be, if at all. And it'll probably be when one of them dies. That's my little theory, anyway. Superpally... I totally agree with you on all the Jate scenes, and especially when you said Kate saying "I'm flattered" turned your stomach. I was disgusted with that whole scene, and even though it pissed me off royally, I think Kate probably deserved it when Jack said, "Yeah, why's that?" in that sarcastic, completely uninterested voice. WHERE is the strong, in charge, leader Kate that we knew from Season 1? This woman was supposed to be the LEAD ROLE. They've turned her into a groveling little puppy dog that tags along after the menfolk for any scrap of attention she can get anymore.

I don't think the part where Kate and Jack look at each other after the "I'm sorry I kissed you... I'm not" scene can really be considered a "moment". It seemed more to me like Jack was just jerking her around AGAIN because he can't make up his mind whether to step off his pedestal and start showing interest in a mere flawed mortal or continue being aloof and unapproachable. And Kate's reaction was more like "WTF?!" because he's been treating her so badly that anyone would be surprised to hear him say he didn't mind the kiss.

Sure, it was a rough season for Sawyer and, indeed, Skate... but we need to have faith in TPTB to pull their heads out of their asses and bring back the characters we love (and get rid of a few we don't). There were a few episodes I could stand to never see again (The Other 48 Days, The Whole Truth, Maternity Leave), but on the whole it was a decent season action-wise. Romance-wise, not so much, but our time is coming. Next season is supposed to focus a lot more on the love angle and I think if we can just hold on, TPTB won't let us down. They've GOT to know by now how sick of Jack/ Jate people are getting... don't they read the forums afterall? Isn't that what I've heard? I think these guys are smarter than they want us to think... at least I hope so. As for that toast-- I'll break out the Dharma wine!

Well maybe not totally be together, but there is totally room for more "OMG I just kissed Sawyer he is sooo hawt" moments. That doesn't mean she needs to pick him, she just needs to have some hot on screen action. Then Jack can get all mad, and be like "Didn't I say I wasnt sorry we kissed"?

Either way, I am glad its the three of them with the others. They have plenty of time to "talk"!
