:o I searched and I didn't find anything about this or any other hair dye.. this is only a spoiler because I know what happens when you talk about previews anywhere else
and this is my first thread :)

Ok here's my idea
Libby has brown hair in the mental institution- do they let patients dye their hair?

On the island, no one seems to by dying their hair. Libby must be naturally blonde or she's pretty sneaky..

So.. was that picture of dr. Libby having a bad day back when she was dying her hair brown?

Those promo pictures are just as misleading as the previews, maybe we're supposed to think she's a mental patient..

any thoughts?

For the record, if it weren't for the mention of the promo pics (Libby's hair color), I'd move this. However, since Jewely mentioned said promo pics, I'll leave it here for discussion until after tomorrow night's episode.

I return you to your regularly scheduled discussion. Just a heads up. ;)

For future reference, Jewely, promo pics and previews are different. The stuff from promo pics don't always make it into the episode, so we treat them as Spoilers. Previews are things that have actually aired. If there have been any previews showing Libby with her hair color different, I missed them.

You did good by starting this here. I'll leave it until late tomorrow night, and then (possibly) move/merge it. Thanks.

Since we don't know how long Libby's been in from the promo pic, she could have dyed brown hair, maybe freshly dyed right before she was admitted. And then natural blonde hair later.

Or else it's just a continuity goof and they should have painted in some roots.

Or... just thought of this... the roots were bleached by the unrelenting sun.

Thats a good posibility...I have that kind of hair...its brown in the winter, but if I am out in the sun alot in the summer it can get really light...especially the more time I spend at the beach(salt water) or pool(chlorine) So "in theory" her hair could be staying blond/dirty blond because of their locale....

Sawyer's turning into the Sam Walton of Craphole Island, maybe he has hair dye in his stash.

Hilarious!

I think she is just a mousey blonde to begin with. Her hair in the deleted promo pic was more mousey than brown (IMO). My sister has hair like that- once she goes outdoors and gets a little sun it goes blonde immediately. I am guessing since Libby was in a nuthouse, she probably wasn't getting much sun. She may have dyed her hair blonde, but with all the good tropical rays, it will probably stay that way.

aside from this being up there with Hurley's weight loss. it is possible that her hair is blond to begin with, and was died dark when she was in the institution

Perhaps she changes hair color to hide her identity, so the brown may not have been natural.

If she had dyed her hair brown when she went into the mental institution, there would have been no reason to change it back to normal, or maybe she dyed it one time when she escaped.

If her hair was dyed, even dyed brown and then she spent two months in the sun, it would most likely be blonde now.
There is peroxide in most hair dye, even brown hair dye.

Maybe the brown-haired Libby is the twin of the dirty-blonde haired Libby.....

The first time we see her it's blonde and in the 48 days flashback it's blonde.. i'm just saying! :)

Some blondes dye thier hair brown to get avoid the "dumb blonde" sterotype...and hair does also grow out. She could have just as easily been born a blonde and went through a time in her life that she dyed her hair brown.

I thought she had roots. And brown hair can lighten a lot if it's in the sun. When I lived up north, my hair was dark brown. Since moving to the sunny part of the States, my hair has naturally been blonde (on top) due to the sun. Her roots could very well be bleaching out in the sun. They still look like roots to me, if not quite as pronounced as her hair while dark. It was very much hinted at that the residents at Santa Rosa didn't get outside much.

Maybe it's her price for cooperating with the Others; an endless supply of peroxide.

She definetely has brown hair underneath very visibly last night.
It's more than just roots . Her hair in the "Dave" episode is clearly only blonde on top.

When people take hunting knives and pregnacy tests with them in the plane, why not bleech or hairdye?

It is getting a little ridiculous next thing someone will find an old Easy Bake Oven so the people on the beach can bake mini cakes.

Considering things like the manuscript called Bad Twin that Hurley was reading, I am surprised no one is giving this comment any attention.

It should at least be taken under consideration.

Az..why don't you put aside those misconceptions about the non-metallic metals thread and pop in and say hi once in awhile. 1000's of posts and 30,000 + page views don't lie!

My hair changes color, too. Though my hair is a really dark brown, the sun makes a red sheen to it. I guess the Irish ancestry wants to be known. I've also known tons of sorta blondes that go really blonde with the sun, and no bottles involved.

The Libby twin theory is interesting. But I don't buy it.

I really like the idea that maybe, just maybe, the guy Sun was sorta seeing was Libby's guy. That would be really interesting.
