> Where Do You Watch It - and Where Are You From?

Welcome to Lost-TV! -- Καλως ηρθατε στο Lost-TV! -- Bienvenus dans Lost-TV! -- ¡Bienvenidos a Lost-TV! -- Velkommen til Lost-TV!

The Rich Tapestry

I am trying to pull together a consolidated list of countries represented on Lost-TV. I believe it will help make this Forum a better place - we can tailor its content to suit the audience to which it serves.

So, if you're happy to do so, reply in this thread with one or two pieces of information:

1. Which nationality you are
2. Which country you watch Lost in

I will then edit the 2nd post (http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/showpost.php?p=541676&postcount=2) in this thread to show:

1. A complete list of usernames (with their country of viewing) - and grouped by nationality
2. A statistics summary (humour me)

*NEW**NEW**NEW**NEW**NEW*
I have added a World Map (http://www.frappr.com/losttv) to the 2nd post (http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/showpost.php?p=541676&postcount=2) that shows where our International Users are dotted about. Thanks to Scott is 815 for setting up this feature.

Instructions: Please add yourselves to the World Map (http://www.frappr.com/losttv). In the right hand column:
a. add yourself as a user - input your username and e-mail address (not shared)
b. enter your location - click 'not in U.S.' and start typing your location in the box - a drop down box appears and you can select your location
c. if your location is not listed, you can add a place using the tabs at the top of the column

#################################################

THIS THREAD IS A WORK-IN-PROGRESS.

> I WILL BE EDITING THIS OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS TO MAKE IT YOUR COMPLETE GATEWAY TO LOST - INTERNATIONAL STYLE!

(WHEN I HAVE FINISHED EDITING, I WILL REMOVE THIS MESSAGE)

mav.

Ok, feedback & questions:

Lac, hi there. Thanks for dropping by. Any chance I can call on your multi-lingual skills in the future, if ever needed in here?

AdamCrew - at last, my first Canadian reply (there's more of you out there, I know it ;)). And that is cool that you get the episodes even earlier - say, are you Canadians the earliest to get them, period?

YouFirst - hey there bro, recognise you from Lostaways. Are you English?...this whole "British" reply thing is not helping me distinguish country of origin ilo of nationality, but I guess the countries of Britain are somewhat unique in that respect (unless I get a reply from a Catalan not a Spaniard ;)).

edit: I just saw SonOfSawyer's reply - Canada has Quebec, a province, not a country, but still regarded as not Canada, kind of...

SonOfSawyer - bonjour mon ami (that's my French used up). Nice to have another Canadian on board.

Red - this is great, an Aussie. So I get to abuse my moderator priveliges by reminding you of The Ashes for another 6 months, and there's not a jot you can do about it, reply all you like, I have the 'button'...hehe ;). Welcome aboard, buddy. (btw - part of my honeymoon will be in Sydney, got any tips?).

feigenbaum - another Lostaway, cool. So I'll put you down as Scottish, then? :D

Quebec's official language is French and is the only Canadian province where English is not an official language.
Even if a majority of Quebecois are in favour of sovereignty, Quebec is still not a country ... not yet :)

HA! Lucky for you I don't really care for cricket. Or football. Or rugby. We could talk about the rate of success as a nation according to our population, where particular ganes were created, the recent Commonwealth Games, etc.. ;) but I don't watch much TV, and when I do, I steer away from the "bad" channels. That and my fiance does enough sport watching for both of us. :D

Sydney is great, I am sure you will enjoy your honeymoon. How long will you be spending here and what are your interests in terms of site seeing, etc. I can put together "Red's List of Must Sees" for you if you let me know how long you have.

mav: this whole "British" reply thing is not helping me distinguish country of origin ilo of nationality, but I guess the countries of Britain are somewhat unique in that respect (unless I get a reply from a Catalan not a Spaniard ).

Well to help make things as clear as mud, Bristish passports are officially titled.....'United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Passport', if you have one your nationality is stated as British. So in my case I'm British, from England....which also makes me English. (But then I also have dual nationality). Hope that cleared that up. :p

Hi A-L's bf, great to hear from a Swedish fan. I knew Sweden was cold, and that people made up their own entertainment inside as a consequence....but I always thought it was doing other things. ;)

No fair. The first time in 100 years that England's Cricket, Football and Rugby teams have bragging rights over Australia, and you couldn't give a monkeys about those sports. Now I need another Australian I can wind up about all this.

Sydney is great, I am sure you will enjoy your honeymoon. How long will you be spending here and what are your interests in terms of site seeing, etc. I can put together "Red's List of Must Sees" for you if you let me know how long you have.
:D
Well, as part of the trip we are spending 4 nights in Sydney itself, and then 2 nights in the Blue Mountains. I'd love a 'Red's List of Must Sees'. If you get time, I'd welcome a PM.

I meant that Tv in Poland is divided in two parts. The first is: available for everyone;it is the basic everyone can use=(we can call it public with five canals where the first season was aired) and there is this second type with more than hundred cannals on it where the second season is being aired. Actually it is simple but it may seem comlicated after reading it. So I can say that first season is known for almost everyone and most of them are waiting for September to watch next season.

Thanks for the warm welcome Mav. Yup, we're not too far behind here...well actually, the only reason for that is that we havent had to endure any of the hiatus' that the States have had to, so we're slowly creeping up. :p

We just had Episode 11 - The Hunting Party air on TV last night.

However, i was here in the boards lurking for the first episode of season 2 when it aired in the States, and have been up to date since then.

ninnoart - double you gotta be kidding me! Slovenia - awesome. This thread just gets better and better. Such a varied member base, way broader than I imagined. Do you get Lost in subtitles or direct English soundtrack? (btw - welcome aboard!).

7-Year Ranch - Welcome my friend, another Canadian to the ranks. I must visit Ontario one day, it sounds amazing. Walsall....close?....well I guess its all relative. Its probably a neighbourhood drive for you guys over there, but for me, its 140 miles and a 2.5 hour car drive away. That's just about a day trip, at best. Does she still have her accent..?

Nubski - another Aussie....man, this is gonna be so good in 8 months time when Ricky is nursing another eye-patch. ;) (btw, hi Nubski - welcome to Lost-TV!)

Anđa - wow, Croatia now, too. Great to have you here! And I am a little surprised you guys have got so far ahead with S2. I (arrogantly) thought the UK were the first in Europe to get it...:o ;)

Trents - welcome to the boards, the English brigade gets stronger day by day. Farnborough...I got deafened there one year at an airshow, and I spent the first few years of my lil' ol' life in nearby Aldershot, but keep that to yourself. ;)

BUTTERFLY69 - Cool, our first person from Greece. Welcome to Lost-TV. Where abouts in Grece are you, if you don't mind me asking? I have spent a few good holidays over in Greece, what a fantastic hang-out, beautiful place and friendly people. My favourite place is a small volcanic island near Crete, but I'll keep its name quiet while its still an undiscovered haven for those few tourists in the know. ;)

Hello again Mav, and thanks for the warm welcome message. Well not exactly, especially since the show is with Spanish subtitles, so many people might not even be able to understand what the characters are saying, so I guess it is a minor show. Also it can only be accessed through cable and not many people can afford it. However, on the bright side, I am still able to understand what the characters are saying (since the still speak English)!

As for football, I love my team to death and always will (I'm highly dedicated and so is my whole family), but I'm so sad because they didn't make the world cup :weeping:! And as for Rene Higuita, yes he was on the team and if only he was on it now............but I still love them dearly!

BTW: Not to be mean, its Colombia not Columbia. ;)
Never mind about your football team, there will be always be next time. (Ok, so that is no consolation whatsoever!). And apologies for mispelling Colombia, it is now corrected. ;)

Man, this thread keeps on surprising me. Two more new countries added.

amorfkati - welcome to Lost-TV, you're the first Turkish member to reply. Hope you enjoy your time here. Is Lost big in Instanbul?

Hrundi V. Bakshi - wow, what can I say. Your post was, er, original..:thumbs_up . You make it our second Belgian in here. Thank you. Welcome to Lost-TV!

mininirime - hey, good to have you on board, and Welcome (even though you've been here lurking for a while ;). Thanks for letting me know the Norwegian welcome, I will incorporate it in the introduction post. I think you guys must be one of the most advanced outside of U.S. in terms of how far you are with S2 already. The U.K. only started yesterday...

jmwheeler - so there are a few U.S. members out there.;) Thanks for posting, the U.S. list begins to gather numbers now....

Lain & Freeman - cool! I would never have expected a reply from Singapore, so welcome aboard! I'll be calling in to Singapore soon during my honeymoon, I hear the airport is something else!

For all the new guys,

While I set up the Welcome sticky in here, you might like to take a look at this link (http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=2) instead which will help make your introduction to the site a bit easier. And don't forget, the search (http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/search.php) function is useful to see if there are discussions already in place to help answer any questions/theories you may have about the show itself.

Time for another catch-up. And YES - yet more new nationalities (info: we've now got 30 different nationalities registered in this thread. Fantastic!)

aRooZa - Hi there, welcome to Lost-TV :welcome:. Wie Gehts? (there goes my one and only German phrase, and its probably mispelled!). You are our 2nd German to register. Woher kommen Sie auf? (ok, now I'm stretching it a bit!). Did you get any luck with the Map in the end?

Pablo - dude, cool name,. And welcome to the 'unknown' side of the site, where most US folk don't even realise it exists. ;) No worries, they'll be along in their droves sooner or later, and then post #2 will go bananas!

Texas Red - howdy partner, and welcome aboard! :welcome: Its great to grow the UK list, are you watcing on Channel 4 or do you get downloads and stay with the US guys? I watch on Channel 4 but find myself reading ahead on Spooky's transcripts so I've been 'spolit', so to speak. ;)

onyx - welcome! :welcome: When I started this thread I never imagined I'd get anyone from Singapore, let alone TWO people now! Great stuff, this is what this GD-I forum is all about. Haven't you guys got a really cool airport? I am calling in there for a day or so soon, I've been told to devote some time the airport itself! Is this true?

roswellian - thanks for dropping by. I know you're a 'U.S.' user, but wow, you give me a great new nationality to add to the growing list of different ones. I guess being in the US you're not up on your cricket, but I just wanted to say well done to the Bangladeshi cricket team for coming so close to beating the Aussies recently in a test match. Keep up the good work! (sorry Aussie users, I had to get that in! ;)).

ze_mu - welcome to Lost-TV! :welcome: Another new nationality to add - and seriously - wow! Azerbaijan of all places. Great to have you here. Tell me a little bit about Azerbaijan, if you don't mind.

Luquilla - welcome! You're our 2nd Mexican to register. You're from Mexico City? The first thing that comes to mind when I hear that name is the memories of a World Cup being played there. Football is big in Mexico, huh? You guys are like in the top 5 in the World rankings, or close to being so. We've got one of your strikers, Jared Borghetti playing in the Premiership for Bolton. He's such a great player, I don't understand why he never gets a good run out for the first team. Perhaps he needs to move again after the World Cup. I think you are the silent underdogs. Good luck. ;)

For all the new guys, I normally post this:

Thanks for the heads-up on this thread, island_maverick. I actually hadn't taken a look at it prior - I've been so caught up in reading tons of the episode-specific and theory discussion topics!

Anyway, I'm another New Zealander. I was born here, still currently reside here, and of course, this is where I view Lost from. I've watched since S1-E1 first aired here, but was actually already waiting for the show to get here, thanks to a certain comic strip over at Penny-Arcade(.com), funnily enough.

This is my second time typing this up, as the world map (which I was looking at whilst typing my post) unfortunately doesn't want to cooperate with my cruddy computer, and made my browser shut down. I'll have to try marking myself on the map via my laptop when I get the time.

Gah, is it still going slowly?! Frappr isn't usually like this. Maybe because of the traffic it gets.

Scott, I think you're right. Its got slower the more people that register. I guess it tries to load all the markers each time you log on to look.

Hey Deus Ex Machina, Welcome to the international forum. Would it be asking too much if I was hoping for a Kiwi who followed Rugby League? :)

Deus Ex Machina
07-29-06, 01:19 PM
Heh, thanks for the welcome Ellaroo, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to disappoint you. I'm not a rugby fan to any degree, but it shouldn't be too hard to find someone that is. An NZer that doesn't like rugby?!! Surely a crime against nature. Do none of the existing NZ members of the forum follow League? Well, sorry again, and better luck next time - I doubt I'll be the last kiwi to end up here.
