SUMMARY
4 May 2006 - CLUE #1
* Telephone number inserted into episode via a Hanso Foundation ad:1800 22 77 17
* Recordings appear to be the same as in the US and UK.
* Captured Ad (same as on Hanso website except for the number, but we were prepared! Thanks to BurnZ):
Video: http://www.mytempdir.com/641673 (http://www.mytempdir.com/641673)
Mirror: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=H16QBEVG (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=H16QBEVG)
30 May 2006 - CLUE #2 (i)
* Clue posted on Lost Ninja's website (http://au.blogs.yahoo.com/lost-ninja/), regarding being able to pick up copies of "Bad Twin" this Friday at Customs House in Sydney. Waiting on times, and coded question necessary for you to get one.
(Information courtesy of lametterey!)
1 June 2006 - CLUE #2 (ii)
* Updated information from Ninja's site: go to the desk in the foyer of Customs House between 1pm and 2pm this Friday, June 2nd. Still waiting on the coded question necessary - due to appear tomorrow.
* Melbourne will also get the same opportunity, same time Friday, June 2nd. Location is hidden in Ninja's post - found here: http://au.blogs.yahoo.com/lost-ninja/1809/want-to-find-a-copy-of-bad-twin-pt2 . ("Museum"), at the information desk.
* Brisbane and Perth may follow, we'll wait on it.
1 June 2006 (pm) - CLUE #2 (iii)
* Final details out: the question to ask is What did one snowman say to the other? (predictable). Find by highlighting Ninja's latest blog entry ("want to find a copy of Bad Twin, pt.3) beyond the writing itself.
* Melbourne - update : at the Museum, NOT at the information desk, but at the cloak room. Sydney people are fine to go to the information desk in Customs House, as previously advised.
* Confirmed that the copies are being given out free (there was some ambiguity whether we'd be given a free copy or just a chance to buy the book).
2 June 2006 - CLUE #3
* Copies of "Bad Twin" picked up according to instructions had the following features:
- Handwritten message on the flyleaf:
"Shocking content inside!!
I had to get this book into safe hands. It contains a massive clue about the Hanso Foundation.
I've only got a few copies, so I'm relying on you to help me get the truth out to the public.
To further unlock the LOST conspiracy visit my blog at www.yahoo7.com.au/lost (http://www.yahoo7.com.au/lost)
Namaste

- Various passages highlighted:
p 16 - "Widmore. Cliff Widmore"
p 31 - from "The car ascended swifty..." to p 32 "He got back into the elevator"
p 149 - from "Damn right, they worked!" to p150 "But look, we have a visitor"
p 171 - "Zander's in Australia"
p 179 - " Her namplate said CINDY"
(thanks to zombiepigs for the report!)

Pending | Resolved | No Longer Relevant
-------------------------------------------------
TASK #1 - It looks like we might be getting our first clue in the form of an ad, or at least some short segment tacked onto the show on Thursday. Maybe someone with the appropriate equipment could capture this? It might come in handy if there is something more than a telephone number or website reference to be analysed. It would also be good to have someone with these capabilities on hand. If you can do it, let us know asap by posting here! Resolved - thanks BurnZ!
TASK #2 - Double check that the phone recordings are indeed the same as in other countries. Possibly get a transcript written up or the sound captured. Resolved - after transcribing to compare, we're pretty sure the messages are the same.
TASK #3 - Help in deciphering the meanings of the phone messages and the Hanso website: see the other threads in this forum.
TASK #4 - Find other parts of Gary Troup's interviews, probably on Australian and UK online bookstores. Some have already been tried, with no luck, but we have to keep checking them as the release date for the book gets closer.
From post #62 - Nothing as of 6 May:
www.angusandrobertson.com.au (http://www.angusandrobertson.com.au/)
www.dymocks.com.au (http://www.dymocks.com.au/) (Bad Twin not listed)
www.borders.com.au (http://www.borders.com.au/)
www.booktopia.com.au (http://www.booktopia.com.au/)
www.abbeys.com.au (http://www.abbeys.com.au/)
www.galaxybooks.com.au (http://www.galaxybooks.com.au/)
www.collinsbooks.com.au (http://www.collinsbooks.com.au/)
www.fishpond.com.au (http://www.fishpond.com.au/)
www.qbdthebookshop.com (http://www.qbdthebookshop.com/) (Bad Twin not listed)
Except where indicated, these sites have "Bad Twin" under "pre-order" or "not yet published" status, with little other information (definitely no interviews).
9 May - General article (http://www.smh.com.au/news/tv--radio/lost-out-da-vinci-code/2006/05/08/1146940473217.html) about "Bad Twin" in the Sydney Morning Herald (not in-game, just talks about how well it's selling and how it's connected to Lost). So maybe some updates on the book front soon.
11 May - Book is definitely on the shelves, but as yet no promotional interviews have been found.
Another place to check:
http://www.infinitas.com.au/Product.php?bar=9781401302764 (courtesy of BurnZ)
TASK #5 - *On FRIDAY June 2nd* Collect copy of Bad Twin from Customs House in Sydney, at the Japanese photography exhibit, which is on the ground floor. Still waiting on more details from the Lost Ninja's blog (http://au.blogs.yahoo.com/lost-ninja/) - we need some kind of code that will eventually be released on that site, and the exact times to turn up, so keep checking it.
Anyway, if you're in Sydney, try to make it down there, in case there are any extra clues to be had. Please let us know here if you're going, just so we have some idea of how many people we can count on getting reports from. :) Thanks.
(Information courtesy of lametterey!)
1 June - Update on Ninja's blog: time is between 1pm and 2pm this Friday, June 2nd, exact place is the desk in the foyer. Still waiting on the coded question necessary - due to appear tomorrow.
Melbourne will also participate: same day, same time. Location is hidden in Ninja's post - found here: http://au.blogs.yahoo.com/lost-ninja...f-bad-twin-pt2 (http://au.blogs.yahoo.com/lost-ninja/1809/want-to-find-a-copy-of-bad-twin-pt2) . ("Museum", find by highlighting the space beyond the relevant paragraph). It's at the information desk.
Indications that Brisbane and Perth may follow, though no information yet
1 June (pm) -
* Final details out: the question to ask is What did one snowman say to the other? (predictable). Find by highlighting Ninja's latest blog entry ("want to find a copy of Bad Twin, pt.3) beyond the writing itself.
* Melbourne - update : at the Museum, NOT at the information desk, but at the cloak room. Sydney people are find to go to the information desk in Customs House, as previously advised.
* Confirmed that the copies are being given out free (there was some ambiguity whether we'd be given a free copy or just a chance to buy the book).
(Resolved - for results, see clue 3 above)

Brilliant! Thanks so much you two! I'll let Vincent know.
I'll get him to put you down officially for the AU-REAL team, since you specifically mentioned physical clues, though of course your help with everything else will be appreciated. This thead is mainly about clues which can only be gathered in Australia: the web clues have their own international team found in the ALL-WEB thread, but of course many other areas such as ALL-HANSO and ALL-INTEL will come into it, so just go ahead, browse the forum and participate!
So great to see people getting involved -Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi! :D

05-04-06, 11:08 AM
Actually no - we don't have persephone interrupting in menu option 1 - the info about Hanso's address just plays out properly. There must be other differences ... let's do this slowly and methodically, everyone!
BurnZ, you're a champ!
I'll Call The Number After The Show Ends, Even Though Ive Already Seen It From American Times :P

It seems as if there's a whole section missing out of the first option, like the bit where the guy's talking in a different language. Does anyone know where's there's an accurate transription of the UK or US version that we can go over word for word with? A written version would be easier so we can read and listen at the same time.
WHAT THE!!! Did anyone notice on the website (which is also in the video) the picture of Alvar Hanso looking out the window the caption under it says it was taken in 2003. Yet the orienation film had the same picture (which should've been old)?!?!
zombiepigs
05-04-06, 11:31 AM
they just played the add at the end of the show too...
Lol, they just showed it again.
mtee146
05-04-06, 11:40 AM
Heh. Yes, us Aussies are extra-dense, they need to show it twice. Btw, just the same as on the Hanso website. :/ Hm. A little less than spectacular, huh?

so what do we do now? :P wait for next week? :)
Course not! :) . If we can, let's get a proper transcript down, just for our records and for comparison with the other countries.
I'm going to start by getting down the main menu and option 1. If anyone's up for it, claim an option to transcribe!

Thanks Sebby, guess that's the ultimate confirmation. Have updated summary in the first post.
Good Morning Team Australia! I am in need of assistance. We are currently searching for portions of the Gary Troup interview (author of the bad twin book). We have found parts 1,2, and 3 out of 9 on US online bookstore sites. I was thinking that 3 might be found on Austrailian online bookstore sites and 3 on UK online bookstore sights. Could someone look at some Australian online bookstore sites? Thanks!

As of right now, there doesn't seem to be anything out there - most online stores which have it listed have it in "pre-order" or "not yet published" stage with very little information or publicity so far.
For anyone playing along, I've tried:
www.angusandrobertson.com.au (http://www.angusandrobertson.com.au)
www.dymocks.com.au (http://www.dymocks.com.au) (Bad Twin not listed)
www.borders.com.au (http://www.borders.com.au)
www.booktopia.com.au (http://www.booktopia.com.au)
www.abbeys.com.au (http://www.abbeys.com.au)
www.galaxybooks.com.au (http://www.galaxybooks.com.au)
www.collinsbooks.com.au (http://www.collinsbooks.com.au)
www.fishpond.com.au (http://www.fishpond.com.au)
www.qbdthebookshop.com (http://www.qbdthebookshop.com) (Bad Twin not listed)
Which are the biggest online bookstores we have, I believe.
Will keep my eyes out though!
ETA: Also tried general searches for Gary Troup and Bad Twin on Google Australia and Yahoo7, again, not turning up very much - only stuff cut and pasted from US press. If there is ever a clue, it should almost definitely come up on Yahoo7, because Yahoo and Channel 7 are affiliates. ;)

Hey, nothing as exciting as what's going on in the other threads, but just wanted to point out an article in the Sydney Morning Herald:
http://www.smh.com.au/news/tv--radio/lost-out-da-vinci-code/2006/05/08/1146940473217.html
Not in-game, just talks about "Bad Twin", its success and connection to Lost. However, may be an indication that the official release will happen sometime soon.
Dude, I bought the book today from Boarders. It has 30% off cause of some promotion thing.

Now my post doesn't make sense. >_> You can remove it now. (And this one) It had to do with the Australian thread... Cause of this: "However, may be an indication that the official release will happen sometime soon." I was saying that the book is out now in Australia.
(Discard this post now since its back where it belongs)

Lol. No worries - I know what you mean, I should have been more clear ... I meant some big, official release with press and reviews and everything.
Thanks BurnZ, will add those links to the first post!
"FYI: The Speaker (insidetheexperience.com (http://insidetheexperience.com/)), The Lost Ninja (Australia 7 Network (http://au.blogs.yahoo.com/lostninja/)), and the UK Blogger (UK Channel 4 (http://www.channel4.com/entertainment/tv/microsites/L/lost/blog/index.jsp)) are all working together in conjunction with game creators. The Lost Ninja has an anagram on his site right now but we're pretty sure it is only to tell Australian fans where they can pick up a copy of "Bad Twin". If you're in Sydney, stop by the Customs House on Friday during the "Japan Historical Photo Exhibition". Keep an eye on Ninja's site as he will soon be revealing a "password" question that you have to ask to prove that you're not with the Hanso Foundation so you can get a copy of the book. Aussie fans...let us know if there are any clues revealed at this event besides the handing out/selling of books."

Great! I'm in Sydney, so I'll try and get there if I can, though I can't promise anything because I have work.
I'm glad they're finally doing things here - I even posted in the ninja forum asking him to make TPTB do something separate from the UK and US, I even suggested "some unique Bad Twin or Gary Troup promotion" (wanting the other parts of that interview which haven't been found yet). Heh. I guess I was ... sorta... on the right track with that guess. But bugger it things start happening just around exam time!
Will add the info to the first post in hope of recruiting more Sydneysiders.
EDIT: Half an hour later - Ninja has just updated with the necessary info, so I'll include that in the first 2 posts.

hey guys,
at Custom house in Sydney now using their internet kiosk.
at about 12:00 a man and woman dropped off two suspicious looking boxes at the information desk. They waited there a while, and were greeted by somebody (possible manager of the place?). They've cleared off now, and left the two boxes with the info desk.
We'll give you more of an update if anything else happens before 1pm!

hahaha- we were so tempted to steal the books and leave a note saying 'the hanso foundation is watching you!'. but we've already been acting so suspiciously we're probably already being watched by security :P

ok - so... there was a skinny english guy taking photos of everyone who grabbed a book, who refused to answer any questions we asked. the books were given out by a short red-haired girl, after you asked the magic question.
but here's the cool part:
the books have sections highlighted in them!
here's what we've found so far:
on the front page there's a hand written message
"Shocking content inside!!
I had to get this book into safe hands. It contains a massive clue about the Hanso Foundation.
I've only got a few copies, so I'm relying on you to help me get the truth out to the public.

The Lost Ninja"
the following sections are highlighted:
p 16 - "widmore. cliff widmore"
p 31 from "The car ascended swifty..." to p 32 "He got back into the elevator"
p 149 from "Damn right, they worked!" to p150 "But look, we have a visitor"
p 171 - "Zander's in Australia"
p 179 - " Her namplate said CINDY"
i'll post this over in the BADTWIN thread as well

Hey zombiepigs! We met you at Customs House today - we're the guys you were with when Ninja's friend took our picture :)
Also there are pictures of the highlighted sections in Bad Twin over at the numbers forum if people want to see em: http://www.4815162342.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21322
I hope they do more of this interactive stuff as the game progresses, today was such good fun.

Awesome that you could do a running update! I had work ... was all I could do to steal a few minutes to run over there and get the book. Same notes: though didn't even notice the pg 149 one until you pointed it out.
(And I refused the English guy his picture, hehe. What questions did you try to ask him?)
Will put this on the first page summary ... good work! Will add link to images as well, thanks biomech.
Edit: Just adding, I think they've made the handwriting on the first page look a little like that of Persephone ... cool!
