Does anyone else dislike him?
I disliked him since the beginning. I thought he was way to controling and impulsive, and acted on a selfish set of morals. Now, I REALLY hope he has a good reason for those murders.
I don't hate him..I think that's to strong a word, but Im not a huge fan right now. I hope there are others that feel this way.

Nope. Dont dislike him. Never had. Always respected his feelings and motivations. Until this bit of mayhem.

I always thought his parenting skills needed help. But that's because he never got a chance to hone them. No, I don't dislike Michael! I feel, what he's doing now, is all in an effort to retrieve his son. I just wish he didn't have to sale out the Losties to obtain his goal. :(

i know killing is wrong...that being said i'm still a michael fan, sorry but i'll still root for him.
I've always disliked him. For me, it's his personality in general.
He also has the problem Claire has, his whole character revolves around his child, you really don't get to know him in any other context.
He's just angry for no reason Mike, ignoring the child Mike, or screaming WWWWaaaalllllttttt Mike.
Who is he really? He appears to be there only as a foil Walt.

+1
can't wait till he gets what he has coming
I agree that Michael is too Walt-centric. We know little of him personally except from flashies, and I can't work out if its the actor or the character that just doesn't convey any sense of purpose and personality. Michaels "Find my boy" is becoming Claires "Moi Baybai", ie. very annoying. The Mike vs. Locke influencing Walt chapter was the only piece of character development I really appreciated; but again this pivoted on Walt. I think if Mike hadn't run off into the jungle at the point where he'd finally shed his 'character baggage' I might have a place in my heart for him, but the writers are making it hard to form any sort of positive or negative attachment to him in my mind. However saying that the end of season broods ominously.

My problem with Michael is that he is deluded into thinking that he is the best thing for Walt. I know he thinks it's out of love or guilt, but those are a heavy load to put on a little kid. That's Michael's baggage. Right now, Michael knows Walt is safe. He's alive.
Just the fact that he chose to kill and to ensnare 4 others in a trap, proves his mental state. What kind of father is that for Walt? Another heavy load of baggage for the kid to carry. I'd feel like crap if my dad killed 6 of his friends so I could live. Talk about survivor guilt.
It very well may be that the best thing for Walt's best interest, is that Michael not be around the kid till he gets more stable.

He also knows he's probably going to be killed. I don't think Michael's going to return with the rescue party.
This treachery and betrayal comes from, as you say, guilt! From not being an available father for Walt. For allowing himself to be conned, if you will, in to believing the best thing for Walt was to give him up to Susan. All those years ago!

Wow.
Even though, I've been ranting all day about Michael, I haven't really thought about him dying. That makes me sad.
Why can't he stop sabotaging everything. Can someone tie him to a tree for a month or two?

I've always just found him an irritating character, thats it... lately, he's become worse. I really hope that they've now written him out of the show - he adds nothing to it IMO.

You know, somebody a whole lot smarter than anybody here once said:
BON VOYAGE MICHAEL!!
:wave2:
I've been angry at the whole situation with Michael. He's seemed irrational and selfish and his "I'm sorry" to Hurley just didn't cut it. I nearly flipped out when he was cornered yet again in a lie about where he was taking the group.
But after watching the finale a second time, his confession scene finally clicked for me. Dare I say I began to feel sorry for him in his utter desperation? I think we're finally seeing some of these characters unravel. Locke is definitely battling his own beliefs (he managed to turn disillusionment into yet another one-man crusade). Michael, I think, is personifying for us what being stranded on an island - if not THIS island - can do to you.
His son is not only all the best of him but also his one remaining link to love and home. Realistically, I can see how he's allowed himself to become so obsessed with getting Walt back. Even if it means killing people. He decided a long time ago that his son was the most important thing to him now -- and he's allowing the stress of his situation to control his, shall we say, more "civilized" morals.
Walt ended up with Micheal. That's the place he wasn't supposed to be.
