is time on the island all wacky...?
is that why claire hasnt given birth yet especially with all the extreme situations she's been in. i know that that kind of exertion will induce an early labor...
maybe time on the island is slower, but in a way that allows people to live and act in normal time... its hard to explain but do you get my meaning?
that would explain claire not delivering, hurly not being noticably thinner after being stranded on that island for a month and why their beards arent alot thicker...
whacky theory, but i was bored...

It's OK, I've been putting off some wacky one's lately too.
Time does seem whack.
I keep thinking of "aboriginal dream time" theory. If time is circular and not linear the way we think of it as, then that would mean past, future, and present are all happening simultaneously as potential outcomes.

Whack theory time, eh?
Well... maybe Clair's baby isn't, strictly speaking, a normal human baby. When she was fighting with her boyfriend he accused her of skipping her birth control pills to trap him with the pregnancy, an accusation she seemed genuinely angry about. Also, early on somebody on the island asked her what sex the baby was and she sais she didn't know, which would indicate she had not had an ultrasound and might indicate her prenatal care was lacking.
Sooo... maybe she is a surrogate mother who is carrying a genetically enhanced foetus that takes longer to develop than a normal baby?
The thing is, Claire's baby isn't late. She is now about to enter the ninth month. If she goes 10 or more months, then we know something is up.

OR.........and I pray this is not the case......They are all dead, and that is why no one is changing in any way.

Claire's birth = Season finale. A complete guess, I swear on my life. I don't read big spoilers. Only episode descriptions.

The men not having beards could just be because they found razors in the wreckage of the plane. Hurley already mentioned that they have deoderant so having razors wouldn't be a stretch. But the funny thing is, if they do have razors, we should see the men with progressivley longer beards then with no beards after a shaving. Wierd...

Time on the island is out of wack due to excessive reruns.

go by the dairy writers timeline.... They've been on the island for 26 days (I guess that's almost like a month). Claire was kidnapped on day 17, came back on Day 25 (now that's not any where near almost 2 weeks as stated).
but you're right, how are we suppose to keep track when they keep throwing in weeks of re-runs to mess up our timing.

I remember reading way-back-when on the fuselage board that the writers indicated that time on the island isn't in "real" time (i.e., that each episode is just a day or two).
I do agree that the new episode, reruns, new episode, reruns cycle is messing up my concept of how much time has passed since the crash. I would have prefered it if they had just rerun ALL of the episodes in mid-season, then finished the season with the new ones. It would have made it a lot easier to follow, especially for the newer viewers.

To make the following of events and passage of time easier for us loyal LOSTAWAYS, we have the LOST Timeline (http://www.swedishpoet.com/losttimeline.html). We also have dsera's diary (http://www.dsera.com/lostdiary.html) transcripts.
As far as Claire's due date, I believe that it's not unusual for first time mothers to go past their due date for as much as a week without detriment to the baby. In the pilot, when Jack asks Claire how far along she is, she vaguely replies, "Eight months...?" and this gives the writers a bit of wiggle room.
Jaredbold, you can rest easy. The only thing all the writers, producers, actors, etc agree on, and haven't contradicted each other is that no, they are not dead.

I have been bothered by the fact that Jack's hair is not growing out - but, I don't blame this on wacky timekeeping. I think it's one of those things that we just have to overlook. I also agree that the baby being born will be the season finale. Except, I think that Claire is carrying an alien / human hybrid.
