Questions to think about

What if ethan was hired by the pyschic to protect claire from the others? And what if the family that was waiting for claire at LA was actually jin and sun? maybe sun cannot concieve a baby and they are going to adopt claires baby? and maybe thats why jin asked if the baby was alright, not just to know if his wife spoke english (or is there another reason why they went to LA?)
and what if charlie knows something and thats why he shot ethan? And also maybe the thing that killed the scuba lady (Forgot her name) was neither ethan or drowning, what if something was out there killing the survivors? ethan could have tried to take claire from charlie and left charlie on the ground and something else hung him?
and how come ethan had cuts on his face if the fight with jack was a dream?

I though that as well at first. But then I though if Jin and Sun were the couple why would they travel to LA and not just go right to Sydney??

I don't think Ethan would have been hired to protect claire. If you're hired to do something, and you ended up in a plane crash on an island, do you really think someone would risk their life (and kill) just do to a job that obviously dosen't matter anymore?

I suspected that Ethan got his scratches from Claire during her escape or her captivity.

Speaking on Claire's escape. Is it bothering anyone that Claire was able to escape from Ethan? I mean, he's supposedly this "superhuman" type of being; He supposedly knows the island inside and out, and a woman who is likely 9 months preganant was able to escape? Something doesn't quite sit right with that, and I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were.

She was able to escape because she scratched the mess out of his face.....then, Ethan performs some sort of hocus pocus on her and she forgets everything.

the show sucked - as did the writers expecting us to believe all that. But hey - Claire remembers the peanut butter!!

I don't think that Claire escaped, I think that something else attacked Ethan and left the scratches and Claire ran away.

The memory loss I can't explain.

Maybe those weren't scratches, but knife wounds. Maybe Ethan was the polar bear....

As to the superhuman, um well, everyone seems to be thinking that cause he cleaned Jack's clock in the fight when Claire was first abducted -- or DID he? There is more than enough evidence to support the position that the 'fight' was actually all in Jack's head. In other words Jack beat himself up over this, not Ethan. Which would tend to go with Jack's mindset at the present time. I don't think Ethan was superhuman. If he was, then why didn't he clean Jack's clock a 2nd time?

And why the fight at all (merely drama?) with Ethan? Why not pop a round off into the air to let him know he's fighting bullets now, not fists and knives?

Claire's memory loss? No idea, but Charlie had a similar, albeit milder, case of amnesia as well. And Charlie said "They <highlighting added> just wanted her." More than one Ethan? Others working with Ethan? Against Ethan? So there is a lot more there that Charlie snuffed out. The idea that Charlie has somehow become bent is a possibility and that is why he killed Ethan. To hide his new allegiance with the others. Again, not enough info to explain the amnesia or to rule out Charlie being bad for now.

From what I saw, it certainly seemed to be bothering Locke a little. ;)

Ethan was not on the plane, so... are you saying he followed the Oceanic plane, saw it go down and, instead of organizing a rescue party, he got himself stranded in the same island?

As far as the scratches on his face, they look like fingernail scratches to me. Claire's handywork, it would seem.

1. Jin and Sun are Korean, right? I doubt the would be looking to adopt a caucasian baby.

2. Jack and Ethan, Part I- that was real. Ethan is freaking strong, and he did catch Jack off guard and pressed his advantage. Part II was payback, and even after Jack pounded on him and kicked him, Ethan was still conscious and able to get up on his knees. Did he look very hurt?

3. Locke was SO stunned to see Claire. Almost like he thought it was a bad thing, but he could have brought her back to Ethan if they were in cahoots. He didn't, he brought her back to the camp. Perhaps he knows what force could have gotten her release.

I like that! That's a much better plot twist than simple Claire scratches, and, as others have said, he seems pretty strong. She would have to do more than claw at Ethan's face to escape him.
Also, I don't think that Sun and Jin were looking to adopt Claire's baby; Sun was ready to leave him! Plus, as I have said somewhere before, there was no loving couple in LA--that was just the psychic's excuse to get her on the doomed plane.

since the polar bear was stabbed hard enough in the paw to send it running
