I was reading a article recently, it was a interview off JJ and Damien, it said we would find out what the monster was this year. They said that originally, before ABC ordered new episodes, they were going to reveal it in Boone's episode, when we see the shadow of it in his hallucination, we were originally to see it then (odd as it was a hallucination). But they said we would get a new mystery which will make the monster pale in comparison. Thoughts?

Hmmmm, that makes me wonder about the little Boone fixation we got tonight....
Work with me here: He volunteers for sentry duty, Locke says they're gonna be counting on him (the same kinda confidence Locke had in him in Hearts and Minds), he falls asleep, we wakes up to a loud noise again and runs around a bit (A LOT like we saw him do before). I'm surprised we didn't get another look into the monster thing again........or maybe this could be a look into Boone's new unlocked powers???
Only time will tell
Cheers :hat

Maybe Locke was actually counting on Boone to fall asleep, so his buddy Ethan could slip through.
Maybe Boone is just a spoiled rotten PUNK who loves to brag that he runs his mommie's company when he really doesn't do JACK!
Sorry about that rant, but he may have been the cause of Steve, umm, Scott's death, and he doesn't own up to falling asleep. Locke heas helped him and Charlie so far, and we see some serious charachter deficiencies in both. Locke is helping these weak sould so they will rally around him later on in some major turning point.

I feel your pain, jeffsoup, but...
Ethan slipped into the beach camp from the ocean, during the night - whether Boone was asleep or awake didn't actually made much difference regarding Scott's fate.
I am not sure about Locke's true motivations in 'helping these weak' characters (paraphrasing from your post), but if I were in a deserted island with a group of useless people, I think I would do my best to help them overcome their character flasws, and get them to a point where they can be useful.
After all, if Locke is not in league with Danielle's Others, then his very survival may depend on getting as many of the other survivors up to par.
