No, Vincent was still "missing" then. Remember, when we first heard the monster, Walt said "is that Vincent?".

Also, watch the way Walt says "Vincent?". He almost says it like he had heard Vincent make this noise before. Like he expects it to be Vincent.

I'm trying to imagine the CG where Vincent turns into the smoke or visa versa, I can;t help but think it'd look a bit cheesy, they'd probably never show it though, just like they'll probably never show the crash in much detail...

It was a little odd that he asked about Vincent when he meets with Michael in the "Others" tent but I just thought that was him being a kid. Walt doesn't seem to have a problem with leaving Vincent now although he doesn't really have much choice I guess.
