ok so we know Kate, Jack, Michael/Walt, Jin/Sun, Charlie, Claire, Locke, Boone/ Shannon all had legit reasons for flying. Why was Hurley, Sayid, and Sawyer on the plane? I think Sawyer will be answered next episode, but what's up with Hurley being in Aussie? didn't he say he was from Cali? and why was a former Iraqi soldier on board?? Theories welcome.

goldfoxx, allow me to invite you to visit the different character threads, where these and other questions are pondered.
For the record, though: people travel to many places, regardless of where they were born, where they live, or how they make their living. It happens.
I should know.

very true aztec, and i agree that they don't need a specific reason for travel. i was just interested in some general theories because Sayid's reasons for being on the plane were brought up tonight in the chat and that got me thinking. Also i've seen some logical speculation as to Hurley not being on the plane either. i'll check out the character boards though too.

I think that Hurley's reasons will come up in the episode "Numbers", and then later on Sayid's. Sayid might have escaped from Iraq and has for a while lived in Australia (there are over 70.000 iraqis living there) or somewhere else and has specific reason to be in Sidney. I guess eventually we'll find out.

haha thanks aztec, ive been lurking/ chatting since about episode 4 (kind of wierd how we use episodes to deliniate time, isn't it?) and figured I should start putting my two cents in...
