View Full Version : Danielle is Military

This is a theory based on something Black Dahlia says in her recent observations. It was said that Danielle seemed to hesitate before answering Sayeed's question about coming to the island. Danielles reply was that her group were scientists and Sayeed said "scientists with rifles?" I think she was lying too. Lets look at this, she claims her people were sick and she killed them. That seems more of a military answer to a problem than a scientific one. A scientist would quarenteen and try to find a cure, study the sickness to prevent spreading not erase all those infected. Also Danielle just happens to have a little torture bed all set up. She's been alone for 16 years but is all ready to zap the first person that comes along. Again militaristic not scientiific.
BD also says Sayeed wakes up in Danielles crib and says "YOU" as if he recognizes her. Now about 16 years ago was the first Gulf war. Had Danielle been in the French military, she could have been in Iraq and Sayeed might have noticed her. He also has a military backround so he would have realized the importance of not revealing his recognition. The boobytrap that got him caught in the first place also hints to some military training on Danielle's part, the maps and dismantaling the weapon also.
Let me know what you think

I like your theory,I also noticed the way Danielle stood when talking to Sayid outside her bunker,it was the way she was holding the rifle that looked very military to me .

She's been alone for 16 years but is all ready to zap the first person that comes along.
That is a very interesting point. I mean, why would she have a "zappy chair" and more importantly, why would she just go and start zapping Sayid. She accused him of being "one of them"...

Ok. was deciding which post to add this to, or to make a new thread, but I'll put it here first....
We've all made two assumption that appear to go together that I'm not certain should go together.
In the pilot, we here a French distress call. In Solitary, Danielle says she was part of a science team.
Is there ever a place that Danielle said a French science team? She appears to be fluent in many languages.
Could she have been part of a science team, made up of people from different nations? Or could she have been the security guard of a science team?

I would think that a mattress spring charged with electricity would make a great defensive shield if a bear(polar or other)happened to get in your bunker. After all it might just give you enough time to start shooting. Paranoia or just smart defense?

Yeah, and if she can speak English, why did she choose to speak in French for her distress call?
That doesn't make much sense...

I would say that she chose to speak french because of where they are in the world. She said that they were three days out of Tahiti when the ship had trouble and went down. That area of the world (Tahitit, Marquesas, Bora Bora, etc...) is part of French Polynesia. French would be the predominant language.
One thing bothering me about the Frenchwoman's appearance, shelter, etc.... Why does it look like something out of the 50's or 60's rather than the late 1980's. The music box was very important to her, when was the last time that anyway took a music box on an ocean voyage. And if it was a science team, where are all the computer systems and the like, we did have computers in the late 80's.

I post this very idea before and I agree. I think she was weapons researcher or something along those lines. And I also agree that the team is international. To me her killing the rest of her dream may have been part of her dreamtime.

This is far-fetched, but if it was a multi-national science/military team, could this island experiment be some sort of Bio-Dome. I remmeber a few years ago, they had many people from diff nations live in the bio-dome, and then pauly shore and steven baldwin broke in and destroyed the place. Is hurley the new pauly shore?

Well, if the French military is involved in this whole thing, the castaways are in no danger.
Danielle will likely surrender in the next few episodes.

i disagree- i think there is a more plausible explination for all of the equiptment in Danielle's bunker- and how why the bunker is built the way it is. I think that the Science team was studying animals. That is why there are bears on the island- and how she knows about them.

I agree with TheJohnStamos. I think that her science team could have been studying animals and possibly hauling them in the boat (bears). That would explain why she had a sedative to give Sayid. She would have had tranquilizers to shoot at animals with a rifle.

Its kinda sad that we are still trying to suck the last bit of information from "Solitary". It would be nice to have another episode where we learn ALOT about the big picture.
Danielle never speaks specifically about her role in the science expedition. She never says "I'm a physicist" or "I was the security guard" or "I ran the boat". One would expect her to make such a statement.
