Take a look at this picture of the map from the latest episode: Here ya go (http://lost-media.com/modules/coppermine/albums/ep-caps/season1/1x14-special/special153.jpg)
Now, to me, it looks like it shows the island, then it kinda zooms in on it, then zooms in some more. You get what I'm saying? On the bottom, it shows the island from way up in the air, then the triangle points out a small spot, then the map seems to zoom in more, then zooms in more.
What do you think?
I think this is showing the height of the island(s) from the look of it ), not zooming in.

Yeah, but the Bermuda Triangle happens to be in the Pacific, not in the Atlantic. But I was intrigued when I saw that whoever drew the maps had put triangles over that area, because depending on who you ask, there are several other, lesser known "triangles" throughout the Atlantic and Pacific.

The triangles might represent the 3 sides of a 3 sided pyramid. I know that he placed a 'side-on' view of the island on top of a topographic view of the island. When you join the three triangles together you get a 3d location. The degrees might be the degrees of the pyramid.
I don't know about the 3 diagrams figuring a pyramid, but it might be interesting if Walt's line, "Shouldn’t we be studying birds of Egypt or something?" means anything.
