So many opinions, so many questions, so many different thigns that this island 'could be'
Personally, after watching the past two weeks episodes I am starting to think that as we all know that Jack is the main character, and during his flashbacks was told that 'he wasnt good enough' etc.
Now, I think this whole thing is Jack in some kind of coma or sleep, realising his dreams and aspirations of being that leader! Also he is seeing other do the same, ie Locke being able to now walk and hunt as he wanted to in Australia. Kate wanting to be the good person and helper that she is portraying on the island.
So, I think the whole show is about Jack and him wanting to be the leader and authority that his father told him he could never be.
OR... maybe I am thinking to far into this and it is just an island with magic fairies :b >D

Actually they are pixies.
its possible...what would be cooler is if they're all still on the plane and having the same interweaving dreams while flying to do whatever they need to do and they cant wake up or land until they get closure.
haha idk just made that up on the spot.

I think it's real - not a dream. That whole dream thing would be nothing more than a Jump the Shark moment.
Actually they said nobody has ever got off the island that we know of.

also in an interview the writers/creators stated that everyone was alive on the island. The whole dream thing would be a cop out.

I will cry bitter tears of sorrow if it is a dream.

Yeah that would suck. Really unimaginative too.

It could happen, just as the stupid boring alien theory could too.

--hmm... interesting. I can see that, but then I can also see a reference to the philosopher John Locke here. What if instead its that society has been removed and now all the individuals are allowing to become their ideal selves without the pressures and negative influences of their normal society. They returned to nature and returned to their inner-self?
Maybe it is just some autistic kid playing with Kates toy plane and he made it all up in his head.....Yeah, wait, what?

What does everyone think about the toy plane. At first I thought it had something to do with the Crash, but now I think it has to do with Kate's past, perhaps she had a child, or maybe it belonged to her Father. She was obviously arrested for the Bank Robbery and that is why the Marshall caught her. But perhaps she killed her father in an accident possibly when she was a child, but was blamed for his death - she needed to access the Safety Deposit box because it was a childhood toy and represents the father she lost.
I think there has to be more to it, she went through quite a lot to get her hands on that toy. She joined forces with a group of bank robbers, and had apparent physical relations with one of them just to originally get her hands on the plane. I've heard of girls trading sex for Heroin, crack or cash, but toys..I wish I knew that when I worked at Kay-bee in high school.
Then she gets on the island and tells bold face lies to someone she supposedly trusts and cares for, and then with his help digs up a decomposing corpse to gain access to the toy.
It seems like an awful lot to go through just to get some memoribilia, I think there has to be more.

I think that if its the only possession that you have of your father or of a child that you lost, it would drive someone to obtain it. I'm sure if your dad passed away, you would want something physical to remember him, maybe she didn't have any pictures or maybe the Airplane represents her father's profession and she took trips with him on the airplanes as a child.
