The Polar Bear is not real

Not 100% if you would categorize this as a Spolier but I was listening to a Michael Emerson (Fenry) interview and there is a rapid fire question and answer period at the end; however, the entire interview is very interesting. There are three questions that really stood out to me at the end

Q: Is the Polar bear real?
A: No

Q: Is the Smoke Monster real?
A: Maybe

Q: Were you surprised when the white light hit you after the
whole explosion?
A: No (Michael Emerson also goes on to elaborate the they shot that scene several different ways.

was not surprised about the light because he read the script.

That is interesting. Polar bear not real as in genetically engineered? We know that it was a living, breathing thing so I'm not sure what was meant by that.

The Polar Bear wasn't real when they we're filming it in the Pilot Part 2. And it was CGI in Michaels first flashback in Season 1.

I dont know,....... the questions were kinda specific.
Like they already knew the answers. I mean, why would you ask if the polar bear was real if you didnt already know it was fake. Im not sure about these.

I definately was interested by the comment from Emerson (which sounded very much like Opinion rather than Fact) that the Others were "rebellious", presumably against Dharma.

Opens up all kinds of cans of worms, including the discussion about multiple groups on the island (Dharma wouldn't continue dropping food to rebels right?). Also could explain ALOT about the Others behavior in the finale, and why they kidnapped Jack, Kate, Sawyer
(leaders of the survivors, who happen to be serious troublemakers,
rebellious in their own right).

I know those ideas have been brought up before, but Emersons comment was the first I'd heard anyone directly associated with the show mention that concept.

I don't really know what to make of that answers. Maybe the Polar Bear was cloned? Or.. genetically engineered?
Maybe he answered them randomly. Who knows.

But I thought the others looked rather unimpressed when the light hit them...

Ok, I let things sink in for a day or so. I still think there is some good information in that interview. Concidering how starved we all are for any credible information during the off season, anything is good.

Michael Emerson seemed to be very "in character" when he was answering the questions. I'm thinking the questions were very loaded, he knew what they were going to ask before they did and they knew the answers before he answered them.

Can't wait to find out for sure. How far away is October?

They asked him are the dead characters really dead and he said NO!!!!
He also said that the polar bear isn't real and that Smokey is maybe alive!!
And he confirmed what we already know-Walt is importanat for the whole show

Like I had suggested, when the light hit, F'Henry did not only look unsurprised, but he looked ticked aswell, showing that he knows what the button does, that he didn't want it to be pushed, but that he also wasn't expecting someone to have the key, showing that he apparently knows what that does aswell.

No..you have it wrong, The interviewer asked if the characters themselves were dead..He didnt say,"are the dead characters dead'. you misheard.

I concur. In the interview, Emerson revealed that he didn't know any more than we did! He just has the heads up between the taping and when it airs. I favor Them's literal interpretation.
