All this sounds ace for Season 3. It really does sound like they know what they are doing.
"All about the people" like Season 1

Sounds good! Just hope they deal with all the original characters like S1, not just jack kate and sawyer. They are all equally interesting to me.

All this sounds ace for Season 3. It really does sound like they know what they are doing. "All about the people" like Season 1yet for as many people who say that, there will be just as many who say that they are pissed off because it seems like they will focus less on mythology.
it's six of one and a half dozen of another.

it actually all reminds me of the time JJ said he was going to get more involved in Alias after he had stepped back form the show a little. his focus was to make the show more about the things people loved about it during it's first season, and he immediately killed what spark the show had left

How true, but it doesn't have to be one or the other. Part of the problem is too many mysteries and people get frustrated when they keep piling them on leaving us hanging too long. We will have to accept the fact that the story will take seasons to be fully explained and just enjoy the ride as long as they give us good drama along the way.

I don't care about waiting for answers. They can take as many seasons as they want for that. I care about the characters, and JJ handles character relations top-notch. It's realistic, believable, and intriguing. Damon and Carlton last year? Ye...not so much. They twisted the character's behaviors & beliefs at the drop of a hat in order to tell their story. JJ didn't need to, he worked the story AROUND the characters. He moved the characters in a believable direction and progressed them. I hope he brings a lot to season 3 but I'm not going to get my hopes up, he has 1 new show and 1 other show still on the air, and I'm sure he's going to be getting more movie offers after the success of MI:3.

So the others have a much more involved history than just having crash-landed on the other side of the island for a couple years. So we're going to [take] baby steps, [which,] I think, is the way to go."

I like the sound of this. I don't want the story of the Others all at once. I hope they stretch it out over the whole season, at least.

I agree completely KF2. Without the characters what's the point? Someone spewing out endless mysteries because they have a good imaginations?
It's how these people react to the situations they're facing that make the show worth watching every week. It would be a hell of a good drama if there were no mysteries at all.
I think most of us were caught long before there was all the Dharma, hatch, etc business. For me the unusual aspects of the Island added spice, but wasn't the main course.

I agree with this portion of your post. I love a good mystery story, but without strong characters it becomes a chore to read, or watch.

What I would like to see is the best of both worlds. The emphasis on character development of Season 1, plus the Island's mystery/history. It doesn't need to be an either/or proposition.

I hope the writers don't bungle while juggling 16 or so regular cast members. Those are a lot of story lines to keep in the air. I also hope they get the casting right with the new additions. Fenery was perfect, AL was a flop.
