View Full Version : S3 Forumfest - LOST Weekend

So I just wanted to put this out there and see if there's any interest in it at all; Would anyone be up for a board member gathering? I'm not sure how it would work from a logistics standpoint. We all (OK, I'm being generous) have busy schedules, lives. Even a 3-4 day weekend would be cool, though. I'm actually thinking about several gatherings at dif. locations. We could divide the LOST-TV community into regional "hatches" to get as much participation as possible. Find a location(s) central to as many people as we can, preferrably within a short drive of all. I don't personally care about the where: Hotel, motel, Holiday Inn. I'd just like the opportunity for as many of us that are able to meet one another and hang-out. This place is so much a part of many of our daily lives that I think it could be a great experience.
Again, I'm just trying to gauge interest in this project. If there is none, or simply not enough to help raise this baby then we'll abort. If it sounds like the start of a good idea then please, chime in with any ideas or suggestions. Until then, thank you, namaste and good luck.

Thats actually a pretty good idea.

Suil Liath

except for the vast distances between all of us. It would have to be a numbers game: which group is the largest in terms of geography (say a days drive away) versus those who are more challenged.

I'm for it. The "hatch" idea is excellent but seeing how many of us can get together in one place would be "gooder"

BubbleBoy13
08-07-06, 04:52 PM
Well, what i think is that like people near each other can meet up. like in the US, people in Kentucky, Ohio, Tennesee, and Indiana can meet up like here in Louisville and stay a weekend at a hotel. and we can do the same with people in diffrent sections of states all around the US.

LPU
08-07-06, 04:53 PM
Exactly BB. A Midwest hatch, Southern hatch West Coast, etc.

BubbleBoy13
08-07-06, 04:55 PM
And then when we meet up, we can wear nametags of our forum usernames. I.E. my name tag would say BubbleBoy13. and the hatch idea is cool, but then maybe like twice a year everyone in the US could meet up in one central place, like New York or something and we could have a big party.

I vote for Hawaii.

BubbleBoy13
08-07-06, 04:57 PM
Yeah!! That would be perfect!! We could have a big meeting for members of a Lost forum where they actually shoot LOST the show!!

I brought this idea up during the middle of S2 to Leuthen, and like Suil mentions, it's a distance thing. Any possibility though, and count me in!

except :( I can't get to Hawaii... But this sounds like an awesome idea, but yes would take a lot of work...count me in...let me know what /how I can help...I'd be in the Midwest 'hatch'....(WI)

LPU

Hawaii would be a great end-game, series finale thing. I think the multiple hatch gathering would be the way to go for now.

Why would that matter? Who said anything about drinking or sex?

Scott, maybe you could help coordinate the Europe 'hatch'

Scott, maybe you could help coordinate the Europe 'hatch'

I wouldn't mind coordinating it, but I wouldn't be able to get to it. It's a neat idea, couple of years and then I'll be wanting to travel to meet some of you too...

LPU
08-07-06, 05:33 PM
It's definitely a good idea to have one hatchling manning each region.

http://www.frappr.com/losttv

It looks like we have a pretty good concentration in the MW, NE and S.

TheTempest
08-07-06, 06:09 PM
I'll host the NW party. I'll rent a big screen TV and we'll make S'mores and Jiffy Pop in my fire pit.:D

BubbleBoy13
08-07-06, 06:09 PM
How about this? We can have a giant gathering for season finales and season premieres, and a giant gathering for the series finale and the movie (if they do that) and then little get togethers every now and then

LPU
08-07-06, 06:13 PM
That's my girl, pesty!

And I'd be more than happy to coordinate the mw hATCH.

I'm interested. I don't know if I could stay a whole weekend though.

OMG its LFG
08-07-06, 06:35 PM
Im unemployed. I can get anywhere.

LPU
08-07-06, 06:50 PM
Unemployed? That's perfect!

LPU
08-07-06, 07:55 PM
So if you decide that you're interested then just pipe in with your location for now, we can worry about the logistics after we see who wants to be in. Thanks to those who've offered to be their regional hatchling! It will be a lot of work but great fun.

Well, there's one for the NW hatch!

LostVoyeur
08-07-06, 10:03 PM
Merry and I live REAL close by !!! And since south florida happens to be cooler than anyother place right now !!! (just dont plan it for hurricane season) I'm up for planning a party !

LPU
08-07-06, 10:10 PM
Maybe that will be base camp for the Southern Hatch? Between that and the MW we could have a pretty good handle on those two areas.

Im definately in. Louisville, kentucky here.

LPU
08-08-06, 12:24 AM
Louisville would be a good spot for the Midwest. Maybe Indy or Cinci, too.

clayseason1
08-08-06, 12:41 AM
Maybe each of the hatch parties could have a webcam and those that can't make it can get together at "the pearl" (someplace on the web -maybe here? - where "the pearl" observers could party along with everyone else. There would have to be someone at the hatch checking a computer to monitor the pearl's posting party.
Does that make sense?

(We have enough time to make contributions to pay for the webcams and maybe eric could help with "the pearl" observation.)

foxxie
08-08-06, 12:42 AM
Indianapolis here! :D

LPU
08-08-06, 12:44 AM
Great idea clay. I certainly want to do whatever we can to bring it to the people who can't go. BubbleBoy had made the YouTube suggestion and disposable cameras (or digital for those that have) would be easy enough. But the forum as The Pearl...great idea.

Yay fozzie! Another MWer for us.

BubbleBoy13
08-08-06, 12:44 AM
I could help with the webcams. that would be great if we could set it up so the people who couldnt come could see us and we could see them.

BubbleBoy13
08-08-06, 12:45 AM
And we can get it where we can set up a live feed (not a blurry webcamish one) where we can see all the other parties and they can see us

solat

I could help with the webcams. that would be great if we could set it up so the people who couldnt come could see us and we could see them.

That's getting to be an awful lot of webcams, yeah?

clayseason1
08-08-06, 12:45 AM
we could see them
Wouldn't each member have to have a webcam for that to happen?

LPU
08-08-06, 12:46 AM
Yeah. If we're going to see them then they'd better come!

BubbleBoy13
08-08-06, 12:47 AM
Well, let me rephrase that. We could set it up so each member that cant come can see all the other parties going on. They dont have to have a webcam to see it. But then we can have live feeds to the other parties so they can see us partying and we can see them.

LPU
08-08-06, 12:49 AM
They would need to buy some composition notebooks so that they can write down everything that they see.

I'm in New England, and New England is pretty close. Does that count?

Suil Liath
08-08-06, 03:41 AM
yeah, we talked about Hawaii once before but I think we were all kidding.

Meet ups for premiere and season finale a definite plus.

drabauer, me, bekka, ILF, mellis --- all within an hour of each other. But who else is in Southern California?

Then we have central. Then Northern. Than the pacific Northwest.....

This is doable, when we know who wants to do this and where they are.

Smirnoff_Ice
08-08-06, 03:44 AM
I seem to be so far away.

BubbleBoy13
08-08-06, 03:45 AM
Yeah...this is actually pretty possible.

LPU
08-08-06, 04:20 PM
I think that it's very doable. I'm in the Ohio Valley, so KY, IN, IL, OH and the like are all very close. It's just a matter of people saying yay or nay.

LPU
08-08-06, 06:43 PM
Certainly we have more than a few handfuls of people interested in this. Right?

BubbleBoy13
08-08-06, 08:36 PM
Right.

Wanna-be Buddha
08-08-06, 09:25 PM
I'm in the process of finding a new place to live/getting a new job/getting into grad school, so I don't have much time or resources. Only way I could do it is if it's in the Baltimore/DC area.

LPU
08-08-06, 09:39 PM
Baltimore/DC are certainly in the running to receive a Hatch. I'm sure there are more than a few people in that area.

LostVoyeur
08-08-06, 09:40 PM
are we gonna try for all the same night ?

LPU
08-08-06, 09:42 PM
That would be great, but it's proving to be tough enough to generate interest as is. We'll have to see how that goes and take it from there.

LPU
08-09-06, 02:15 AM
:bump:

If you'd like to meet any of the people on the board then jump right in!

Magical Trevor
08-10-06, 06:09 PM
If you've worked out where the hatches are going to be, just make a public poll, then you can guage interest and work out who goes where in one easy step without waiting for everyone to reply.

LPU
08-10-06, 06:19 PM
I may try that Trev. It's just difficult to decide where the Hatches would go without all of the precincts reporting in. Maybe I'll make up a prelim. list and take it from there.

IwannaBlost
08-11-06, 03:45 PM
I am in Western PA, if it is close enough and I can get time off from Hades, I would be there

IwannaBlost

Well, there's the making of a Rust-Belt Hatch right there!

I know some from Ohio too, so there could be some interest in the TriState Area as a whole

LPU
08-11-06, 05:59 PM
So for you people in that area what are some cities within a short drive from everyone?

LPU
08-14-06, 06:59 AM
In the hopes that one day there will be interest. If you build it, and all of that.
