View Full Version : my theory on how the webmaze and the show will merge.

I keep trying to see how the webmaze and the show will merge (if at all) and here is my theory:
The film will be shown by Fenry to Jack as evidence of him being a good - guy.
I really think Truff's idea that Alvar will be in the show is a good possibility.
I think those will be the main connections. But I also think there will be little connections that will enhance the story. For example the LE shows Hanso Industires was in Italy -the same place Michaels wife and Brian lived before moving to Australia. I think there might be some other little connections as a nod to the webmazers.
It might be the same way The Clone Wars cartoon gave a lot of texture and back story for characters in Star Wars 2 and 3.
The orientation video itself explains a lot (which is why I can't believe it wont be in the show)
I think the video explains why Dharma need the Losties. I do not, for one second, believe that the Losties crashed on the island by accident, as I have tried to point out in my "Improbable Remote View"
http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11653
Goodwin's fast appearance and other clues have led me to believe that Dharma was fully expecting the Losties - and manipualting their lives to be on the island.
But now that we know Dharma's mission - It bring us to an interesting fork in the road. Are the Losies being brought to the island to prevent the destruction of the earth - in other words, are the losties themselves instrumental in the future destruction of the earth? So send them to the island to save the planet? No, I doubt this. Mainly because the Dharma Off Island folks could just as easily have killed Jack, Kate Sawyer and the rest.
No, I think the Losties hold the keys to saving the Earth and that is why they were manipulated onto the island.
I think this explains the whole "taking the good ones" thing the Others were doing on the beach. The Dharma folks have some idea which of the Losties will be helpful - and they are taking them . Walt for sure was someone they wanted - and now they are done with him. He gave them more than they expected (Fenry line proves they had any expectation at all) Now they want Jack kate and Sawyer. They must be needed for the current Dharma project. Maybe the other Losties - Eko, Locke, ect will be needed in the future as the reseach progresses...
So let's see if I understood correctly:
Hanso found out the date of Human Extintion through the Valenzetti Equation so he funded DHARMA in order to try to save the world by
changing the variables that lead to that precise date.
How to change those variables?
By doing research in the fields incorporated in the equation's variables.
What are these fields of research?
Psycology
Parapsycology
Meteorology
Electromagnetism
Zoology
Utopian Society (eugenics?)
So he built six stations, each of them to study one of these environmental variables and try to get a different numerical value. So we can assume that the Valenzetti Variables right now are:
4 8 15 16 23 42
We don't know which number belongs to which station yet, though. Does a higher number means a higher level of risk?
Now, according to the Sri Lanka video, we know that the Hanso Foundation think that DHARMA failed. How do they know that? If they were supposed to know that
thanks to the broadcasting of the numbers via Radio Tower, how can they know what the numbers are now if Danielle changed the transmission 16 years ago?
A couple more questions:
Why are the numbers on the vials?
Why is the sum of all 6 variables the exact amount of time it takes the magnet to charge?
How did Hurley win the lottery with those numbers?
And, like you said, I believe some of the losties hold the key to, maybe to change those variables to save the world.
I think the idea of Henry showing the video to Jack makes a lot of sense as a tie-in.

Very funny Lace. So are trying to say even TPTB don't know everything? And nothing overlaps? Not even the video?
Darn!
This just proves the point that I am an unreliable narrator ;)
Wait..there is a PC game?
I would love to see that.
You are teasing us aren't you.

Fierro: That is a brilliant speculation! So each Hatch corresponds to a different Numerical output of the Valenzetti. But why then does Swan have all 6 Numbers, instead of just the one that corresponds to electromagnetism?
dweiss: I think the video game is lace's apt and hilarious prediction. TPTB are like spiders at the center of a web of greed.

Books, magazines, cookies, dolls, pc-games, whatever.
TPTB don't know what the corporate guys will say about killing Jack when the time comes around to kill him again.
It will all depend on some marketing poll among the webmazers, maybe.
You know more about some things than TPTB themselves, I guess.
What I really meant is that there will be intersections, tangents and so on,
but that doesn't mean they are all the same thing.
Lost is a brand now.
I will expect to know a lot about Hanso if I send over three labels of the Lost cereal.
He will send me a personal message with Easter Eggs.
That's gonna be so cool!

Examples of fictions that exist accross different platforms.
X-men, F-4, Spideman: Comics, movies, pc games, and cartoons.
They share elements but they are independent from each other.
You won't like to know how similar is the ARG idea to the Ultimate Marvel Universe,
which Damon LIndelhof knows so well from his very own personal experience.

well, in the swan they just used the whole set of numbers as a password or access code, or maybe they kinda played with the whole set in each station expecting one of them to change through their especific research. What about 108 then? I don't know... to many questions! Sometimes I feel like my head is about to explode for thinking about Lost that much!
And by the way, there is a Lost videogame coming out next year...:)

Fierro - I think your idea that each hatch worked on one variable (number) is correct.
I am guessing the builders of the hatch system planned for the possibility that the stations might be cut off from each other - so each hatch could enter the numbers - hopefully one hatch could change one or more of the numbers through their hatch research.
yeah I kinda think that each hatch has to do with one number. however, I also like the idea that the others are recruiting "the good guys"
think of it this way, say that the supervirus that hanso has been working on in the past few years was released upon the world. 30 percent of the global population dies. however, hanso's island is where he will put the people that he selected to play the role of "noah" so the good guys aren't saving the world but they will rebuild after the world's 1/3 death. perhaps the electromagnet field is the only thing that prevents the supervirus from getting to the island.... and now that it's gone, 1/3 of our heroes will die.
And by the way, there is a Lost videogame coming out next year...:)
what system and do we know an exact date?
I think it's gonna be out for next-gen consoles and pc:) I'm not sure about the date, though. But I think it's gonna be distributed by UBISOFT, so quality is assured.

UbiSoft is indeed a quality publisher/developer. I only hope it's not gonna be a lame success cash-in game dictated by ABC. I know people who expected 24: The Game to be a revolution. I just hope they treat Lost with a little respect.
