S1E1&2 Pilot
Amidst the noise and confusion of the crash, Claire is on her hands and knees, obviously pregnant, calling out for help. "Somebody please help me". Jack runs over to her and she tells him she's having contractions. He asks how many months she is, and she tells him eight months. He asks how far apart the contractions are, but she's not sure, understandably. "I don't know, a few just happened."
Somebody gets sucked into the engine, which explodes, and Jack half falls on Claire to protect her. He tells her she will be OK but she has to sit absolutely still. He calls Hurley to get her away from the fumes, stay with her and call him if the contractions come closer than 3 minutes apart. Hurley does what Jack asks but he's a bit reluctant ! As Hurley and Claire are moving away a big piece of metal threatens to break off the wing and fall on them. Jack runs over to them shouting to get out of the way, which they do. Jack asks Claire if she's OK, she says "Yes". Jack tells Hurley to stay with her.
Later on they are sitting around a fire under a starlit sky. Hurley brings Claire a tray with an airline meal on it. He asks her if she's hungry.
Claire: "Yeah, thanks."
Hurley: "Anymore, you know, baby stuff ?"
Claire: "No. I'm OK".
Hurley: "Well, hang in there."
Claire: "Yeah, you too."
Hurley gives her another meal.
They hear sounds coming from the jungle, and trees moving and getting knocked down. Claire asks in disbelief if anyone else saw that. Hurley says he did.
Charlie, Jack and Kate go off into the jungle to see if they can find the front part of the plane. Its raining heavily.
Claire and Rose see more signs of the monster moving around in the jungle.
On the beach Shannon is being unco-operative and unpleasant with just about everyone, and Claire comes to sit next to her. She asks Shannon if Boone is her boyfriend.
Shannon: "My brother Boone. God's friggin' gift to humanity."
Claire: "I used to have a stomach."
Shannon: "You know what it is ?"
Claire: "Not yet. I haven't felt the baby moving since yesterday."
Sayid, Sawyer, Kate, Charlie, Shannon and Boone head off up the mountain to try out the radar.
Later Claire is writing in her diary. Jin comes along and offers her some sea urchin. At first she refuses but then changes her mind and eats some.
She feels the baby move, and jumps to her feet, trying to get Jin to put his hand on her belly.
Oh, I just felt it. Come here, feel this. (Jin resists but Claire insists). Please, do you feel that ? Its a kick. There, right there. There's a foot. Hey, he's moving around. He. He. I guess I think you're a he !
Claire is evidently excited, and even Jin is caught up in the joy of the moment.
S1E3 Tabula Rasa
On the beach some of the redshirts are sorting through some luggage. Claire is sorting through papers and documents.
Later on she is struggling to get some of her own luggage up the beach. Charlie jumps up to help her and they put the luggage onto a wheelchair. They pull it across the sand and have a talk.
Charlie: "So, hows the baby ?"
Claire: "Its OK, I think."
Charlie: "Good. So your husband, was he on the flight ?"
Claire: "Oh, no. I'm not married."
Charlie: "Oh."
Claire: "I know. How modern of me."
Charlie: "Well, who needs men, right ? Bloody useless !"
Claire: "(Laughs) So you guys hiked all the way up the mountain for nothing huh ?
S1E4 Walkabout
The survivors awaken to the sound of Vincent barking frantically. There are sounds of gruntlng and rustling coming frm the fuselage. Claire says there's somebody in there - Jack immediately accuses Sawyer, who responds "Right behind you Jackass !" He shines his flashlight in and they see some animals. Everybody runs. Sayid helps Claire to safety and three boars run off into the jungle.
Next day Claire approaches Jack when he is stacking wood.
Claire: "Excuse me, Doctor..."
Jack: "Claire, right ? How's the ....(points at her belly.)"
Claire: "Oh he's good, yeah. Thanks. I thought maybe you should see this. (She hands him a bunch of papers). Someone found them in there. They're collecting all the belongings. There are wedding plans for Steve and Kristin. They were on the plane sitting a couple of rows behind me. I remember they looked so happy."
Jack: "I don't understand Claire, what am I supposed to do with this ?"
Claire: "Oh, well, um some of us were wondering if maybe we should have some kind of memorial service or something. You could lead it."
Jack: "Uh, no, I don't think it ...."
Claire: "Well, you know, just a few words, or we could just read their names from their passports ......"
Jack: "Look, its not my thing."
Claire: "Oh, okay, maybe I'll do it."
Jack: "Yeah, sounds fine, whatever everybody wants."
Later Sayid is sorting through some wires while Claire is sorting more stuff.
Claire: "Excuse me, your name's Sayid, right ?"
Sayid: "Yes".
Claire: "I just found this. Its got your name on it." She hands him an envelope.
Sayid: "I thought I'd lost this. Thank you."
Claire: "Sure." (The envelope has a picture of a woman in it.)
On the beach Sawyer approaches Claire looking uncomfortable. "Hey, uh, these were, um, I found these the other day when I was .... alright, just, just take them." He hands her a stack of wallets. Claire thanks him.
That evening everyone stands around the fuselage while Claire reads out the names of the dead people, and tries to bring a personal touch to their eulogies. After she has finished the fuselage is set on fire.
COMMENT: Claire is kind hearted and compassionate, and she sticks to her guns. Even Sawyer treats her with a certain amount of respect.
S1E5 White Rabbit
Claire walks up to Kate who is sorting through clothes. She asks if she's come across any hair brushes. Kate says "No, sorry."
Claire: "I must have looked through 20 suitcases. I can't find one. Its weird, right ? When you think that everyone packs a hair brush." She half sits, half falls down.
Kate: "You alright ?"
Claire: "Yeah, its just the heat. Oh, and I'm pregnant."
Kate: "Really ?" She hands Claire some water.
Claire: "Thanks. What are you doing ?"
Kate: "I'm sorting the practical clothes from the impractical clothes. Wannna help ?"
Claire: "Sure. Can I - can I ask you something ?"
Kate: "Sure, shoot."
Claire: "Are you a Gemini ?"
Kate: "Yeah, I am."
Claire: "I thought so - restless, passionate. You know everyone thinks astrology is just a load of crap, but thats just because they don't get it. I can do your chart if you want ? (Kate doesn't reply). Or not - Geminis !"
Later on Walt is seen running up to Kate on the beach and tells her "The pregnant lady fell down." Charlie, Michael and Kate carry her to the "infirmary". Kate asks what happened and Charlie says she just dropped. "Must be the heat." Claire stirs and asks what happened. Charlie runs off to get her some water but can't find any. He eventually finds some and takes it back to Claire. He tells her she has to relax and think about the little one. She thanks him for the water and he says there would be more "if some git hadn't nicked it." She asks where Jack is and he says no one knows but Lockes' gone to look for water for her.
Claire: "Great. So now our only hunters' gone off to get eaten just so he can get the pregnant girl some more water."
Charlie: "I wouldn't worry about him - I mean, you tell me, who would you rather meet in a dark alley, whatevers out there, or that old geezer with his 400 knives ? I mean, who packs 400 knives ? I personally only have space for 200 or 300 at most."
Claire: "When are they going to rescue us ?"
Charlie: "Soon."
Claire: "Thanks, Charlie."
Charlie: "For what ?"
Claire: "People don't seem to look me in the eye here. I think I scare
them. Its like I'm this time bomb of responsibility just waiting to go off."
Charlie: "You don't scare me."
It turns out that Jin and Sun have water and are blamed for having it all. This is then passed on to Sawyer. Boone gives Claire a bottle of water and Charlie demands to know where he got it from. It was then discovered that Boone had it. Meanwhile Jack has found fresh water in the valley and will take a group out to get some in the morning.
If we can't live together we're going to die alone.

S1E8 Confidence Man
Claire is sitting on the beach writing in her diary. Charlie comes along with some water.
Charlie: "Morning delivery."
Claire: "Awwww. you're sweet. Thanks."
Charlie: "Well I figured in your condition, with the extra luggage, you know."
Claire: "Well, I can still walk."
Charlie: "Barely. Anyway, I worry about you out here. You know, its very sunny."
Claire: "Thus my hat."
Charlie: "There's plenty of hats in the cave. And we've got a doctor there as well. That'll come in handy."
Claire: "I like the beach, Charlie."
Charlie: "Yeah, who wouldn't want to spend the day with sand fleas."
Claire: "I want to be here - for when we get rescued."
Charlie: "When we get rescued. Right."
Meanwhile Jack and Sayid are busy torturing Sawyer in the jungle, while Kate watches. Shannon is having an asthma attack.
Later on Claire and Charlie are still chatting on the beach.
Claire: "Warm fluffy towels. Your turn."
Charlie: "Uh, banoffee pie !"
Claire: "You already said that."
Charlie: "Toffee and cream. Mmmmm."
Claire: "Is food the only thing that you miss ?"
Charlie: "You're pregnant. I mean, do you not crave anything ? Pickles, fried ice cream, chocolate ?"
Claire: "Peanut butter - I'm the only Australian who loves peanut butter."
Charlie: "I could get you peanut butter."
Claire: "Sure you can."
Charlie: "Yes, I can - and when I get you peanut butter you have to vacate this sandy shore of depression and move to the caves. Deal ?"
Claire: "Deal."
Later Charlie meets Hurley and asks if they have any peanuts stashed away anywhere. Hurley is quite offended - he thinks Charlie is accusing him of hoarding food from everyone. No they don't. Unperturbed, Charlie goes back to Claire, who is having a nap. She wakes to find him packing her clothes.
Claire: "What are you doing ?"
Charlie: "Packing your stuff. You're moving to the caves."
Claire: "You didn't ! Peanut butter ? No way !"
Charlie: "Just like you ordered. Oh there is one thing. Its extra smooth."
Claire: "Thats OK." Charlie opens an empty jar.
Claire: "Its empty."
Charlie: "What ! No its not. Its full. Its full to the brim with stick-to-the-roof-of-your-mouth, oh, god, makes you want a glass of milk extra smooth. Its the best bloody peanut butter I've ever tasted. You want some ?" (Claire tries the imaginary peanut butter.)

S1E9 Solitary
Claire is not seen in this episode. However Michael asks her to look after Walt while he is playing golf at the "Island Open." Unfortunately she falls asleep and Walt gets his way to join his dad.
S1E10 Raised by Another
We see Claire's eye opening and the sound of a baby crying. She gets up and is no longer pregnant. She walks into the jungle looking for the baby. Locke is sitting at a table with a lamp, tarot cards, table runner and crystals. He's dealing cards. There is the sound of a sword being unsheathed. Wind is blowing in the trees.
Claire: "Whats happening ?"
Locke: "You know whats happening."
Claire: "But I don't understand. Why ?"
Locke: "He was your responsibility but you gave him away. Everyone pays the price now."
Locke has one black eye and one white eye. The baby is crying and Claire is running through the jungle. There is a crib with Oceanic mobiles hanging from it. We hear the noise of what could be a plane crash and some of the mobiles break. Claire starts digging through the blankets in the crib, and her hands become covered in blood. She is seen screaming near the caves with Charlie trying to calm her down.
Charlie: "Its alright. Hey you're dreaming. You were sleep-walking, alright ? (He looks at her hands which are all bloody). Claire, what happened ?" Meanwhile, Jack is attending to Claire's hands.
Jack: "Thaat must have been one hell of a nightmare."
Claire: "Who said it was a nightmare ?"
Jack: "I'd say when someone makes their fists so tight they dig their fingernails a quarter of an inch into their palms, they weren't dreaming about riding ponies. Did you ever sleep walk before ?"
Claire: "No, I don't think so. How would I know ?"
Jack: "It'll get back to you. I had a girlfriend once that told me I talked in my sleep."
Claire: "What did you say ?"
Jack: "Don't know. Whatever it was she didn't like it. How was your OB-GYN in Sydney ?"
Claire: "Good. She was good."
Jack: "She was okay with letting you fly in your 3rd trimester ?"
Claire: "Yeah. I went for a check up the week before and she said it would be fine."
Jack: "Ultrasound was cool ?"
Claire: "Uh-huh. Very healthy."
Jack: "How have you been feeling ?"
Claire: "Okay. Backs pretty sore, but its probably just from sleeping on the ground. I get dizzy if I stand up too fast and I have to pee all the time.
Jack: "Are you eating enough ?"
Claire: "Boar and bananas."
Jack: "How many weeks in are you ? What was the date that you found out you were pregnant ?"
Flashback
Claire is coming out of her bathroom with a pregnancy test in her hand. Her boyfriend, Thomas, asks her if its pink yet, did she actually pee on it. Claire says of course she did, she knows how to pee on a stick. Thomas asks her how long its been - 66 seconds - there are two pink lines. They both keep checking to make sure they're accurate. Claire is pretty sure she is pregnant - she's 6 weeks late. Thomas is obviously panicking but says they "can do this." Claire says her mother would disown her, and she's only got her $5 an hour job at Fish'n Fry. Thomas says he has his painting. He loves her and they can try.
Island
Claire is sitting on a rock in the jungle writing in her journal. Charlie brings her a cup of tea, and tries to cheer her up. Claire says it was "just a dream". Charlie says he also has weird dreams, about his teeth falling out and bacon smells. Again Claire says she's alright.
Charlie -
No, of course you are. Its just, I think about you in this place - how hard it must be for you without your family and your friends. And I think we could be friends. I could be your friend. We don't have to do each others hair or anything. I just mean that if you needed someone to talk to about anything, I'm here.
Claire looks a bit uncomfortable and he leaves.
Flashback
Claire is out walking with her friend, Rachel. They're talking about Thomas and the baby. She's moving in to live with him, and Rachel is happy for her. They are heading to see a psychic. Rachel is reassuring her that it'll be fun, but Claire is a bit apprehensive.
At the psychic's Claire is sitting at the table.
Malkin: "I'll need your hand for this - (he holds it). Ah, so when did you find out ?"
Claire: "What ?"
Malkin: "About the baby."
Claire: "Two days ago."
Rachel: "She hasn't told her Mum yet (Claire shushes her.)
Malkin looks concerned.
Claire: "What ? Should I not tell her ? (Malkin looks at her. He's worried and scared). What is it ?"
Malkin: "I'm sorry. (He gives her her money back). I can't, I can't..."
Claire: "What were you going to do - what did you see ?"
Malkin: "I'm not doing this reading."
Claire: "You were going to say something."
Malkin: "You'll have to leave. Now. Thanks very much."
Rachel: "What a freak." She and Claire leave.
Island
Claire is sleeping, when she is attacked. A hand covers her mouth, her belly is exposed and something like a needle or knife flashes, and there is a flash of something copper or gold covered.
Jack wakens to the sound of Claire screaming. She says someone's going to hurt her. Charlie, Jack, Michael, and Hurley are all running around trying to decide what to do. Claire tells them what she knows, but it wasn't much. They look around and find nothing. Jack asks Hurley to start a cencus so that they can keep track of everyone.
Flashback
Claire is putting up drapes in her appartment. Thomas brings in some groceries. They're chatting happily. Claire says Sasha has invited them over for dinner, and Thomas says out of the blue that he can't do this anymore. He can't handle the responsibility. Claire is understabdably upset, but he says its no good - he can't give up his painting, give up his way of life. She tries to persuade him to stay with her but he refuses and walks out.
Island
Claire is sitting by the fire with Charlie, while Hurley goes and does his census. Jack is thinking that Claire is imagining things - Charlie says "no way". Later Claire is writing in her journal. Jack brings her some medication but she refuses to take it. She says she is not making anything up and she doesn't want any medication to make her feel sleepy. She says she is going back to the beach - "its not safe here." Jack says to think about the baby.
Don't talk to me about the baby. I'm sick of everyone telling me what to do.
She runs off towards the beach.
Flashback
Claire knocks on Malkin's door. She reintroduces herself to him and asks for a reading. She gives him some money and he counts it. She asks him why he has to count it if he is a psychic. He takes her hands and begins to look confused. He asks when her boyfriend left. Says he saw something blurry which could be bad. He says it is vital that she raise the child herself, that the father plays no part in it. Danger will surround her child if anyone else raises it. It must be surrounded by her nature, her spirit and her goodness for its development. She says she cannot raise it on her own and will put it up for adoption. He gives her her money back and as she leaves he continues to press her to raise the child herself. He needs her protection.
That night Claire is sleeping when the 'phone rings. It is Malkin. He tells her he has a plan which can make everyone happy. If she doesn't listen great danger could befall the baby. She informs him that great danger will befall him if he doesn't stop ringing her in the middle of the night.
Island
Claire bumps into Charlie walking in the jungle. She tells him she is going to the beach. Jack thinks she's making this up. "I'm not crazy Charlie."
Charlie offers to carry her bag. She says she's fine and why did he come after her ? He says its probably because he likes her.
Claire - You don't like me, Charlie, OK ? You just want to resue me because of this (referring to her belly) I'm fine, OK ? I don't need rescuing, I don't need ....
She has a contraction and Charlie starts to panic. Claire tells him to get Jack, but he's reluctant to leave her along. He says he used to be a drug addict. If he can kick drugs he can deliver a baby.
Claire: "Get Jack !"
Charlie: "Right."
Flashback
Claire is in the lawyer's office., talking with the adoptive couple whose names are Eileen and Joseph. They want to take Claire with them to Melbourne to deliver the baby. They will pay all Claire's expenses and she will receive 20,000 dollars. Claire talks about the song "Catch a falling star" which her dad used to sing to her when she was a baby. She tries to sign the documents but the pen won't work. Nor will the next one. She says she's sorry but she can't do this and runs out. She goes back to Malkin. "OK, what is it ? Whats your offer ?"
Island
Charlie runs into Ethan and asks him to go get Jack. He runs back to Claire and does what he can to help her. She tells him she's not supposed to be there. "Somebody promised me it would be different."
Flashback
At the phychic's house -
Claire: "You spent the last 4 months telling me I have to raise the baby myself. Now you're giving me money and saying I don't have to ....." Malkin: "I found a couple in Los Angeles who are very eager to adopt. The baby will be safe in their care. Now I've foreseen ....."
Claire: "Foreseen. I don't even know why I'm here. I'm sorry."
Malkin: "I know this sounds ridiculous, Claire. All this psychic business, and I appreciate that you must think I'm a raving madman. But this is what must happen."
Claire: "So you're giving me 6000 dollars to give my baby to a couple of strangers in Los Angeles.
Malkin: "12,000 dollars. The other 6000 when you get to LA. And they're not strangers, Claire, they're good people."
Island
Charlie is skeptical about the psychic, and Claire replies that after everything he was full of it. Charlie says that maybe he knew what he was talking about, that all he wanted was for Claire to raise her own baby.
Flashback
Claire accepts her airline ticket from Malkin but says she can't leave tomorrow. She says she just can't.
Malkin: It has to be this flight. It can't be any other. They're already scheduled to meet you when you arrive. Flight 815.
Island
Claire: There was no couple in L.A. He knew. He knew about the plane, what was going to happen. Oh my God. He knew.
The contractions appear to have eased, much to their relief. Charlie persuades her to go back to the caves. Claire grasps her belly. The baby kicked.
Hurley has discovered Ethan's name isn't on the manifest. He wasn't on the plane.
There is a shot of Claire and Charlie. V.O. of Ethan and then a shot of Ethan. "Hello there". Charlie asks him "Where's Jack ?"
S1E11 All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues
It is discovered that Ethan is not on the manifest. Now he has disappeared. So has Claire. So has Charlie.
Locke and Jack are looking for them and find Claire's bag in the jungle. She was apparentlyy going back to live at the beach. She didn't like the caves. Judging by the tracks Claire and Charlie were together, and were taken by Ethan.
Jack and Kate find Charlie hanging from a tree. He appears to be dead but Jack manages to resuscitate him. Charlie says Ethan just wanted Claire.

S1E14 Special
Charlie is looking for Claire's bag, which unbeknown to him Kate has moved to the beach. He wants to find her diary in case he can find any clues as to her whereabouts.
Sawyer has it, and after a struggle Charlie gets it off him. He says he hadn't got around to reading it yet.
Charlie says she has been gone for a week now and he is really starting to miss her. Later he is reading the diary and finds an interesting comment:I had that weird dream again, the one with the black rock I can't get away from. I try to leave it but it won't let me.
Later that evening they hear rustling in the bushes - Claire emerges looking really bad.
S1E15 Homecoming
Locke carries Claire to the caves. Everyone is rushing around asking questions. Jack comes along and tells everyone to back off and give her some room. Claire opens her eyes, screams and scrambles away. Charlie and Jack try to calm her but all she can say is
Who are you ? Who are you people ?
She says she remembers nothing since she was on a plane flying from Sydney to L.A. Jack tells her that that was a month ago, and she starts to panic about the baby. Jack reassures her that the babys fine. She wants to know why nobodys come to get them.
Sun and Jin have a conversation in Korean asking each other about whether the girl is OK. They think so. And whether the baby is OK. Yes, they are sure he is.
Charlie is telling Claire about how Ethan took them both away, how their friends got him back, but not Claire. She asks who Ethan is and Charlie tells her he is the bad guy. Claire asks more questions.
Claire: "So we were together when ....."
Charlie: "Yeah."
Claire: "Why did you leave ?"
Charlie: "Why don't we leave that lovely story for the morning ? You've had enough for one day."
Claire: "Ah, I won't be sleeping."
Charlie: "Oh, lucky for me I'm not much of a sleeper myself. Finally I'll have someone to stay up with.
Claire: "We're friends ?"
Charlie: "Yeah. Yeah, we're friends."
Later Sayid, Charlie, Jack and Locke are discussing Claire. Sayid is suspicious and thinks that Ethan was manipulating her. Charlie says she needs company and sets off for the caves. He bumps into Jin and they head off together. Ethan emerges from the jungle and hits Jin on the head with a rock. He tells Charlie he wants Claire back. Charlie asks Ethan what he did to her. Ethan grabs Charlie by the neck and tells him he will kill someone every day that she doesn't come back. And he will kill Charlie last. Charlie tells Jack and Locke and they try to devise a plan.
Claire is talking to Charlie and says everyone is avoiding her. He asks her if anything is coming back to her and she says "no". Charlie tells her they have built a golf course. He tries to reassure her that nothing is going on with the other survivors.
Boone has been keeping watch against anyone coming onto the beach, but he falls asleep. They wake to find Steve/Scott's body. It was finally ascertained that is was Scott, and they buried him, sadly.
Claire walks to the spring at the caves, aware that some of the redshirts are staring at her. She asks Shannon "Why is everybody staring at me ?"
Shannon says she's not. Claire asks her her name, and then Shannon asks her "You mean, nobody's told you ?"
Next we see Charlie walking in the jungle and coming across Claire.
Claire: "Why ? Why did you lie to me ?"
Charlie: "OK. Look ....."
Claire: "What else didn't you tell me ?"
Charlie: "I just thought with your memory there wasn't anything you could do."
Claire: "Nothing I could do ? Why would you keep me in the dark, Charlie ? I'm already in the dark."
Charlie: "Sorry, I just wanted to take care of you."
Claire: "I can take care of myself."
Later, at the caves, with Jack, Locke, Sayid and Charlie, a discussion is going on to to trap Ethan. They want to use Claire as bait to lure Ethan.
Charlie is disgusted Claire walks in and asks whats going on. Charlie says they want to use her as bait and Claire agrees. She wants to prevent him from harming anybody else. Jack, Locke and Sayid figure out a plan. They have 4 guns, therefore there should be 4 men. Jack, Sayid, Sawyer and Locke are each given a gun by Jack. Kate wants one, so Sawyer gives his original one to her. Charlie is not given one.
Claire walks into the site like a deer into the headlights. Ethan turns up and starts chasing Claire. Jack tackles Ethan and drops his gun. Charlie picks it up and shoots Ethan 6 times in the chest, killing him. Jack asks him why he did it, and Charlie says because he deserved it. Jack says he could have told them things they wanted to know, but Charlie says how did he know that Ethan would have told them anything that they wanted to know, and Claire's life would have been in danger.
Later they are all sitting around at the caves. Charlie is sitting alone when Claire walks up.
Claire: "I remember peanut butter. Why do I remember peanut butter ?"
Charlie: "It was imaginary peanut butter, actually."
Claire: "I don't know what happened to me. I want to trust you. Good night, Charlie."
Charlie: "Good night, Claire."
S1E16 Outlaws
Sawyer has been having boar trouble.
Claire finds Charlie making a shovel.
Claire: "Hey."
Charlie: "Hi. How are you feeling ?"
Claire: "Very pregnant. I had some dreams last night. Actuually, more like memories. You were in them."
Charlie: "Sorry."
Claire: "Thought I'd see if you wanted to go for a walk."
Charlie: "Sorry. I have to do something."
Claire: "Sure."
Charlie: "See you later, OK ?"
Later on Charlie has had a talk to Sayid about about his experience with Ethan. He now feels better, more at peace, with himself, and finds Claire on the beach. He asks her if she's like to go for that walk now and she says "Yes".
S1E17 In Translation
Claire makes a very brief appearance in this episode when she and Charlie observe Sun and Jin arguing, and wonder whether they should do anything about it, or just mind their own business and let them be.
S1E18 Numbers
Michael and Jin are working on the raft. Jack, Charlie, Hurley and Sayid are talking about getting batteries from "the French chick". Hurley is getting fidgety and needs some answers.
Claire is sitting at the beach when Locke comes along.
Locke: "Claire, you got a second ?"
Claire: "Uh, yeah. Sure."
Locke: "I was wondering if you were free to help me with a little project ?"
Claire: "Really ?"
Locke: "Yeah, I'm building something and I could use an extra pair of hands."
Claire: "I'm nearly 9 months pregnant. I can barely waddle on the beach."
Locke: "Could you hold a saw ?"
Claire: "Um, yeah."
Locke: "Can you move your hand back and forth, like this ?" (He makes a sawing motion.)
Claire: "Possibly."
Locke: "You're perfect (he helps her up.) Come on."
Claire: "Okay, so what exactly are we building ?"
Hurley has run off into the jungle on his own crusade, and Charley, Jack and Sayid go in search of him.
We see Locke and Claire building something.
Claire: "Its a trap, right ? For catching animals."
Locke: "Pass me that cup, please."
Claire: "Ugh, what is this gunk ?"
Locke: "Glue."
Claire: "Where'd you find glue ?"
Locke: "I made it out of rendered animal fat."
Claire: "You made glue ? Wow. You should have one of those shows where you fix up houses for people."
Locke: "I don't think so."
Claire: "Thanks for this - giving me something to do. I'm tired of trying to remember what happened to me out there."
Locke: "How's that coming ? Your memory ?"
Claire: "Bits and pieces here and there. Nothing that makes any real sense."
Locke: "Well maybe I can help. I'm good at putting bits and pieces together."
Hurley, Jack, Charlie and Sayid return. Locke and Claire are still building.
Locke: "You think of a name yet ?"
Claire: "Huh !"
Locke: "For the baby."
Claire: "I hadn't really thought about it. I was going to give it away, you know, for adoption."
Locke: "That must have been a difficult decision."
Claire: "Yeah, well, it doesn't matter now. Its my birthday today."
Locke: "Why haven't you told anyone ?"
Claire: "I'm pregnant, single, and on an island in the middle of nowhere. It doesn't really matter that its my birthday does it ?"
Locke: "I guess not. At least your birthdays will be close together and thats good luck."
Claire: "Yeah, you think ?"
Locke: "Yeah, I do."
Claire: "You believe in that ? Luck ?"
Locke: "I believe in a lot of things (he finishes with the thing they are
building). That should do it."
Claire: "Okay, I give up, what is it ?" Locke turns it over.
Claire: "Its a cradle."
Locke: "Happy birthday, Claire."
Claire: "Thank you."
S1E19 Deux ex Machina
Claire is not seen in this episode.
S1E20 Do No Harm
At the caves, Jack, Kate and Sun are working on the injured Boone. Jack sends Kate to the beach to ransack Sawyer's tent for alcohol.
At the beach Claire is walking past Jin workng on the raft while Michael, Walt and Sawyer are cooking fish. Sawyer calls out to her "Hey, Mamacita, you want some fish ?" Claire replies "No thanks, I'm not really hungry. How long do you think 'til its ready ?" she asks Michael about the raft. Miichael tells her maybe a week and asks her if she's alright. Claire, as she is leaving replies "Yes, I'm fine, alright. See you guys later." Sawyer comes to the conclusion that she likes him.
Kate comes in demanding Sawyer's alcohol, which he gives without question. As she is running back to the caves she trips and falls breaking some of the bottles. She hears moaning and finds Claire. She asks her what she's doing. Claire says nothing, just leave her alone. Kate comes to the horrified conclusion she is about to have her baby.
Kate: "Claire, we need to get you back to camp."
Claire: "I'm fine - I just need to - I just need to catch my breath ..."
Kate: "Its not okay. You're having your baby."
Claire: "No I'm not, okay. Its just gas pain, its fine."
Kate: "You're having contractions Claire."
Claire: "No, I'm bloody not ! Can you just leave me alone."
Kate: "C'mon we've got to get you to Jack. Please try to stand, please."
Claire: "Look, I can't."
Kate: "Help ! Somebody help ."
Jin comes running up from the beach having heard Kate's screams. "Oh."
Kate: "Jin, I need you to go to the caves and get Jack."
Jin: "Jack. Doctor."
Kate: "Yes, get the doctor, please, come here."
Claire: "Don't leave me."
Kate" "Oh no, honey, I won't. I'm not going anywhere, okay, I promise.
(Kate hands the pack with the liquor bottles to Jin.) Jack, hurry."
Jin arrives at the caves where Jack is trying to fix Boone's leg. He talks to Sun who translates to Jack. Jack says he can't leave Boone, but tells Jin to tell Kate what to do, and says she should be able to manage. He tells Charlie to go with him to help translate.
Back in the jungle, Claire's pains have momentarily stopped. Kate tells her thats normal, but Claire insists they've stopped. She stands up.
Kate: "Claire I don't think you should be doing ...."
Claire: (Looks down) "Whats that ?"
Kate: "I think your waters just broke."
Claire: "No, no, no !"
Kate: "Yeah, I think they have, okay ?"
Claire: "No. I can't have the baby now."
Kate: "Just hold on. Jacks coming. Claire he's coming."
Later, Claire is still in labour. Charlie and Jin come running up.
Charlie: "Hello, hey Kate, is she okay ?"
Kate: "Where's Jack ?"
Charlie: "Couldn't come."
Kate: "What do you mean, he couldn't come."
Charlie: "He's pouring his own blood into Boone's arm right now."
Kate: "Okay, okay, we just pick her up and bring her to him."
Charlie: "No, Kate.
Kate: "No, we have to take her to him before its too late."
Jin motions to them to be quiet. They'll upset Claire. They move away.
Charlie: "Look Jack said you had to deliver the baby."
Kate: "What !"
Charlie: "He talked me through it."
Kate: "No."
Charlie: "Its relatively simple."
Kate: "No, I can't do this."
Charlie: "Yes you can. I have water. I have towels."
Kate: "You're not listening to me. I can't deliver this baby."
Charlie: "Well, somebody bloody has to !"
Jin speaks soothingly to Claire in Korean, and tries to calm her.
Claire: "You know I was out there for over a week - days I can't remember. I mean what if they, what if they did something to the baby. I'm not ready for this, I'm not. I'm scared, I'm so scared."
Kate: "I'm scared too. But we're going to get through this together, okay ?" We see Claire in labour again.
Kate: "Claire, I think this is about the time you're supposed to start pushing, okay ? So push." Claire holds her breath.
Kate: "And don't hold your breath, honey. You won't be able to push if you ... Claire, what are you doing ? Oh, no, no, no Claire, you need to push right now. Don't do this Claire, okay ? You can't stop this, this is happening. Your baby is coming and I need you to help."
Claire: "Its not going to want me."
Kate: "What !"
Claire: "It knows I don't want it - that I was going to give it away. Babies know that stuff."
Kate: "Do you want this baby now ? Hmm. Do you want it to be healthy and safe ? (Claire nods). Okay, then the baby knows that too. You are not alone in this. We're all here for you. This baby is all of ours, but I need you to push, okay ? Okay ? Alright, 1, 2, 3, push. Good, good push !"
Charlie and Jin are watching from the sidelines. Charlie wants to run to Claire, but Jin holds him back. Finally we see signs of the baby emerging and Kate hands Claire a baby boy.
Claire: "I have a son. I have a son." Charlie and Jin hug and cellebrate.
Next morning we see Claire and the baby emerging on the beach. Everyone gathers around to cellebrate the new arrival, even Sawyer.
At the time of the birth of the baby, Boone lost his battle for life.
S1E21 The Greater Good
Boone is buried. Sayid says words for him. Jack is having a breakdown, and Jack and Locke are at loggerheads.
Claire is sitting on the beach with her baby and Charlie.
Claire: "Look its okay. I'm fine really, okay ?"
Charlie: "You need rest, Claire. Sun, tell her."
Sun: "In a hospital they would have you sleep. The nurses would take your baby."
Claire: "Yeah, but I'm not in a hospital."
Charlie: "Well, all the more reason to take extra care, Claire. Look its okay, I can take care of Turnip Head for a while."
Claire: "Turnip Head ?"
Charlie: "Its just what I'm calling him until you give him a name, because his head - its like a turnip."
Claire: "What if he needs something, olay ?"
Charlie: "You'll be there for him after you sleep."
Claire: "No, okay, no."
Charlie: "Claire, no one is going to take this baby away from you, no one." Claire: "You don't know that, okay. You can't say that."
Charlie: "I won't let anything happen."
Claire: (Handing the baby over). "Just be really careful, okay. Make sure if he gets hot that you take his blanket off - his neck, okay, got his neck ?"
Charlie: "Got it."
Claire goes off for a sleep, while Charlie is walking along the beach with a crying baby. Hurley somes along and we see a hilarious scene with Charlie, Hurley and Sawyer trying to settle the baby. Eventually Sawyer soothes him by reading out of an auto magazine. By the time Claire comes back from her nap, the baby is sleeping peacefully in Charlie's arms.
S1E22 The Greater Good
Sawyer, Michael and Jin are putting the finishing touches to the raft while Kate is trying to manipulate herself on to it. Michael gets poisoned.
The baby is in his crib. Charlie is playing his guitar while Claire cuts his hair.
Claire: "Okay, can you stop moving or I'm going to cut your ear off."
Charlie: "Ah, this is good. I'm writing again. I'm really feeling it as well.
So whats the firsst thing you're going to do when we get rescued ?"
Claire: "You know, I really don't know."
Charlie: "You can hang out with me in L.A. - you and Turnip Head. You know, until you figure things out."
Claire: "Thanks."
Charlie: "Smashing. Okay, check this out. This is track 2. Sorry (he turns his head so she can keep cutting). Its called "Monster eats the Pilot."
S1E23/24/25 Exodus
Its morning in the camp and everyone is waking up. Danielle is prowling around. Claire's baby cries and Danielle gives Claire a long look. She speaks to Jack and tries to warn him of the coming of the others.
Everyone is trying to get the raft launched. The dynamite party goes to the Black Rock to pick up the dynamite.
The bayby is crying and Claire is unable to shush him. Charlie comes over to see if he can help. He tells her everyone is leaving for the caves. Claire is upset and says fine, but she can't go anywhere because she's tired, he's wet, there's sand everywhere and she doesn't have enough nappies. Charlie offers to help and Claire says nobody ever taught her how to look after a baby. Charlie tells her it'll be OK, and she says everbody tells her that, but they're not the ones with the baby.
Later on we see Claire preparing to leave. Charlie comes along with a "bjorn" made out of a blanket, a piece of wood and a piece of bamboo. He explains that it is a Dutch baby carrier and shows her how it works. Claire is really grateful and kisses him on the cheek.
Danielle comes in looking for Sayid. She seems desperate. Charlie offers to go look for him, telling Claire to "stay here, alright." Claire says OK. Charlie runs off looking for Sayid and Claire asks Danielle what happened ?
Danielle: (appearing mesmerized by the baby.) "What is his name ? The child, what is his name ?"
Claire: "Oh, I haven't named him yet."
Danielle: "May I hold him ?"
Claire: "Why do you want Sayid ?"
Danielle: "You don't want me to hold him ?"
Claire: "No, I just fed him. I don't think its a good idea, OK ?"
Danielle: "Please .....?"
Claire notices the scratches on Danielle's arms, and we see a flashback of Claire struggling with Danielle and scratching her. She asks Danielle "Why did I do that ? Why did I scratch you ?"
A little later Sayid and Charlie hear a scream and run to the scene to find Sun leaning over Claire's body. Claire has an injured head. She regains consciousness and immediately asks for her baby who has disappeared.
They assume Rousseau has taken him. Charlie blames Sayid and starts attacking him, but Sayid tells him not to waste time - they have to get moving. Sayid claims to know where she's going. Claire says she wants her baby.
As Charlie and Sayid are preparing to search for Danielle Claire enters with Sun. She says she is going with them - its her baby. Charlie says she shouldn't. She tells him not to tell her what to do, but finally gives in to his demands.
Claire: "Get him back, Charlie. Get Aaron back."
Charlie: "Aaron ?"
Claire: "Please get him back."
Charlie: "Claire, I will get him back. Promise."
Claire, Sun, Shannon and some of the redshirts arrive at the caves. Sun and Shannon talk about Boone. Sun thinks they are being punished for things they have done in the past. Claire is not convinced -
No one is punishing us. There's no such thing as fate.
Charlie and Sayid continue looking for Aaron.
At the caves Sun approaches Claire.
Sun: "I made you some tea."
Claire: "I'm fine (she accepts it reluctantly). Thanks."
Sun: "Aaron is a beautiful name. What does it mean ?"
Claire: "I don't know what Aaron means."
Sun: "They will bring him back.
Claire: "Don't say that.
Sun: "They will."
Claire: "How do you know that ?"
Sun: "Because he said he would. Charlie will bring your baby back."
Charlie and Sayid catch up with Danielle and take the baby away from her. Charlie tells her she's pathetic. They return to the caves and give Aaron back to an overjoyed Claire.
We see a flashback of everybody boarding the plane, heading for ... what ?
