I posted this is my main thread, but this is way too neat to have buried based on the assumption its just more yung rambling.;)

We all now know of the linus connections.

All of them work toward my theory in some way, either through Apollo, quantum mechanics, atomic structures, LINUX, (which is used in quantum computing)... the list goes on and on.

but just looking at this list of connections to linus, I have found one which may link our Benjamin Linus to the life extensions project.

first take Linus Pauling as the reference. the easter egg to gaze upon.

Pauling coined the term "orthomolecular (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orthomolecular)" to refer to the practice of varying the concentration of substances normally present in the body to prevent and treat disease.

Orthomolecular medicine

Orthomolecular medicine and optimum nutrition are controversial medical and health approaches that posit that many diseases and abnormalities result from various chemical imbalances or deficiencies and can be prevented, treated, or sometimes cured by achieving optimal levels of naturally occurring chemical substances, such as vitamins (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin), dietary minerals (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dietary_mineral), enzymes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enzyme), antioxidants (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antioxidant), amino acids (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amino_acid), lipotropes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lipotropic), essential fatty acids (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Essential_fatty_acid), prohormones, dietary fiber (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dietary_fiber) and intestinal short chain fatty acids (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatty_acids).

yung, I don't think a Life Extension Program has been mentioned anywhere but the Webmaze. If I'm wrong, please let me know and I'll move this back to GD.

Additionally, Linux is an operating system.

True quantum computing doesn't currently exist at the moment - most work on quantum computing is focused on its theory and formalisms.

Linux runs on computers, on which simulation of quantum gates etc can be carried out - as well as anything else from writing a letter to sending an email...

By your logic, you can argue that Linux is used in time travel too, because you can simulate time and mass dilation on a computer on which linux runs....

I dont know the first thing about Linux, but this "Easter Egg" connecting Ben to Life Extension is quite intruiging.

"I've lived on this Island all my life" - well, thats just swell, Ben; but exactly how long would that be?

Alvar Hanso is a confirmed recipient of the Life Extension Project's benefits. He must endure total blood transfusions once a month as a part of this process.

When the Others are taking blood, are they looking for BLOOD TYPE?
Perhaps even blood type that could help EVOLVE oneself in conjunction with the Life Extension Project. By the blood of the "special", like Walt.
But in Walt's case, he wasn't a match. They learned from his abilities to Remote View, but his blood type wasn't a match so they were more willing to let him go.
They took Michael's blood to be sure. First question from Miss Klugh - "Are you Walt's biological father". Usually the first question is the most important. So if Michaels blood type/DNA matched Walts, then it would confirm somehow that Walt wasn't the "key". Please bear in mind that I dont know the first thing about how blood type is passed on from generation to generation...

ETA - just wanna say again here that HANSO predated DHARMA by a long shot as far as Island history is concerned. See my thread HERE (http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25815) to see what I mean [/end shameless thread promotion] And the Life Extension Project is a HANSO venture, not one of DHARMA.

I'm sure I'll have more thoughts later, just feel like hittin "submit post" now ;)

Peace,
Truff

yung: I'm not sure I buy the linux connection but I agree wholeheartedly re the life extension angle. Here's an intriguing description of the Alan Moore comic Tom Strong that I posted to Suffer the Children:
Just to build a bit on the scenario I described in my last response to IMLOSTRU?, I found an intriguing parallel in an Alan Moore comic series Tom Strong (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Strong). Here's a description from wiki that should sound familiar:
Tom Strong, the title character, is a "science hero". He was raised in a high-gravity chamber and given an intensive education by his somewhat eccentric mad scientist father, on the fictional West Indian island of Attabar Teru. His upbringing, plus ingesting a root used by the natives of the island for health and long life, have made him nearly physically and mentally perfect. Though born at the dawn of the 20th century, he only appears to be in his forties as of the year 2000.

Strong has a wife, Dhalua, and a daughter, Tesla, both with enhanced physical and mental abilities and longevity. He resides in a building called the Stronghold in Millennium City. He is also assisted by Pneuman, a steam powered robot, and King Solomon, a gorilla with human characteristics.
