(1) If Kate is a Canadian who fled to Australia to escape from a US Marshall - why not just go back to Canada? Have you checked air fare to Australia lately - its not cheap!

(2) Claire is 8 months pregnant - don't most doctors advise women this late term to avoid unnecessary travel? If she was traveling as part of an adoption/surrogate situation, wouldn't it have been best for the adoptive parents to travel to her?

(3) From the promo photos, the Koreans, Jin & Sun seemed to be in Japan at the time of their engagement but, were traveling from Australia to the US at present? Long honeymoon perhaps? (A) they don't seem very happy for newly weds and (B) again, have you looked at the price of air fare? Japan to Australia to the US - that is a pricey vacation.

(4) Locke was obviously well prepared for his Walkabout. He must have read many survival manuals, checked with customs regarding the gear he was allowed travel with (pretty certain there is a limit as to the number of knives you can bring - hell, you are only allowed a certain number of wine bottles! ). Hard to believe this very prepared man, in researching tour groups, did not inquire as to guests with "special needs."

(5) What brought the siblings, Boone & Shannon, to Australia together? They don't seem to get along very well. The fact that Shannon brought a bathing suite and nail polish lent to me to believe it was "fun" trip rather than business or family related.

(6) Wouldn't you think any reputable funeral home would not release a body without the proper documentation accompanying it? If I were Jack, I would less angry with the airlines (after all, regulations are regulations and mostly for our protection) but, I'd be pretty darn pissed at the funeral home! ("What do you mean, I can't bring Dad on the plane with me? Those *******at Rest n' Peace never mentioned paperwork") And, obviously, there was a funeral home involved - Dad's body wasn't being checked in Jack's luggage.

Of the stories already told and the implications of some yet to be told, I see a common theme - the passengers aboard this plane were less than happy to be there. Locke got Xed from his walkabout; Walt's mother had passed as well and Jack's father; Kate was a prisoner; even the unknown drowning victim was being sent home early from a diving trip. I've see happy photos of Jin & Sun in Japan but not at the airport in Australia. Interesting. As of now, I cannot make any judgment regarding Sayid, Sawyer, Hurley or Charlie.

Any thoughts??

This picture of Jin & Sun at Lost Media shows them looking somewhat happy at the airport. Other pictures in the same series suggest that Sun at least may be faking it in this photo.

Locke did not tell the people at the Walkabout about his condition. He figured that they could not refuse him once he got there seeing as he was booked and paid for in advance. I remember him saying something to the effect of not lying about his condition. I am sure he knew they would turn him away if he were to show up in a wheel chair, kinda like "it's easier to ask for forgivness than to ask for permission". He just figured they would let him go or had to let him go since he went all that way.

this part is speculation on my part..
I think Claire was running from giving up the baby. She did not want to get on the plane becasue she would be leaving her family/friends/boyfried? behind, but she had to in order to keep the baby.

I never thought about the passengers being less than happy to be on the plane. Interesting point.

Look at the difference in the photos here (in Japan)
www.lost-tv.com/pictures/...=12&page=2 (http://www.lost-tv.com/pictures/thumbnails.php?album=12&page=2)

and those here (at the airport)
www.lost-tv.com/pictures/...=12&page=3 (http://www.lost-tv.com/pictures/thumbnails.php?album=12&page=3)

Sun's appearace is COMPLETELY different!! Notice her PHYSICAL appearance in the earlier photos - short skirts, long hair, heavier make up. She looks much more conservative and does not appear to be as happy in the later photos.

P. S. Someone on another thread pointed out that in one of the airport shots it looks like she is throwing away her pocketbook???

Yes. She does appear to be throwing away her pocket book. Which is odd considering you would need your ID and passport to fly and get through customs. Hmmm.

1) *If* Kate is Canadian - which we don't know for sure - she may have been running all over the world, and we wouldn't know it. In the Kate forum someone went over the mugshot, and if I remember correctly, it was taken in 1999. Five years could be enough time to pay your way, hand to mouth, all around the world.

2) If Claire is a surrogate mother going to deliver the baby in the US, could it be that it's necessary for nationality/citizenship purposes? I'm not sure how international surrogacy works - heck, I'm not sure how surrogacy in the same city works, in regards to paperwork (birth certificate, is it considered adoption, what? someone, please enlighten us)

3) Someone noted that Jin can be seen in Jack's flashback at Sydney's international airport. I guess this could be confirmed by checking the screencaps at lost-tv.com

4) The guy at the Walkabout office told Locke "you misrepresented yourself" - a fancy word for lying perhaps? During another flashback, Locke mentions a double amputee who's climbed mountains. Perhaps Locke deluded himself into thinking that he (Locke) could do the Walkabout without the support network that double amputee had to do those climbs?

5) It's been discussed in other threads that Boone was 'bringing Shannon home' - apparently in interviews with the actors this was established. I personally haven't caught anything explanatory to their being in the plane, in what we've seen so far.

6) It doesn't jive with how I view Jack but... Who's to say Jack wasn't SOOOOOO desperate to 'bury his father' that he basically railroaded the funeral home into sending his father's body and the coffin to the airport, without really understanding (in this case, I'd say more like "paying attention to") the proverbial small print, i.e. "So and so Funeral Home will not be held responsible if the body of one ..... Shepherd cannot be loaded on Flight Oceanic ...."?

Perhaps she is leaving behind an OLD life and starting a NEW one? OR is she leaving behind a bread crumb for someone to find her? Has Jin abducted her or in some way keeping her against her will?
One of my thoughts is that Jin and Sun are only pretending to be married and that Jin has been hired to protect Sun (bodyguard). This would make the authoritive/submissive make sense. Sun is said to be from a very affluent Korean family. Jin may have been hired by Sun's family to watch over her - as in the movie, The Bodyguard, they may actually have a ginuine affection for one another and yet a certain about of defiance on Sun's part. Marriage may simply be their "cover" and Jin may simply be doing his job.

What is making people say that Jin and Sun were in Japan? In the pictures, both the poeple and the architecture (I don't recognize the particular building though) look Korean rather than Japanese. As I understood it the trip was a business trip to Australia and the States, rather than a vacation as well.

2) It would be easy enough for the baby to become a US citizen after adoption, even if it were born outside of the States. In terms of drastic measures, Claire could also be going to the States for legal abortion; she seems too concerned about it stopping moving for this to be the case though.

3) You can certainly see Jin in the flashback, he's standing behind and to the right of Jack in the ticket line, looking annoyed.

Radagast,

Just a quick note: I think you were on the money with the whole "start the episode with an eye" thing. Cool!

Are we absolutely sure they ARE siblings? Yes, they SAY they are, but ... really?

That was me in the Kate forum--the booking photo decoded as Year--1996, Month--January, Date--13th, with the 6 being the case or file number...8 "real" years ago...

About Kate just fleeing back to Canada--the U.S. and Canada have a very good extradition treaty. 7 out of 10 times the Crown Court finds in favor of the U.S., even in the event of a Canadian citizen committing a crime in the United States. If you're an American citizen fleeing justice in the States, the rate is marginally higher...

However...

In the case of a death eligible case in the United States, the Crown Court tends to weigh the suspects rights much more carefully and holds the U.S. to a much tougher burden of proof. It's rare for anyone who flees to Canada with a murder charge hanging over their head, to be returned to the United States to face execution. Execution usually has to be taken off the table since Canada outlawed the death penalty and considers America's use of it as cruel and unusual punishment. It's been [somewhat of] a bone of contention between the 2 governments, for years...

1) edited because i realize i had discussed a bit of a spoiler.

2) what did the distress signal say? i have searched all over these boards to find what the French woman said and i cant seem to find a translation. anyone know? was it a clue as to what is going on?

3) regarding Claire, to board a plane at 8 mos pregnant you are either running too or running from something. it would have to be extremely important to make an international flight that late in pregnancy.

4) why isnt the body in the coffin? did it fall out over the ocean when the plane broke up? or is the magic of the island that strong to reincarnate someone. or will the image of his father just stick around long enough to get him thru this rough time then the body will be found--sort of a hallucination to help Jack deal with the stress.

5) why did Sawyer say "I made this birthday wish 4 years ago." Was he refering to some general wish for a beautiful girl or was he speaking of Kate? There have been a few looks that have caused me to wonder if they might have known each other from before.

these are a few of the questions i have.

Whoa, Had to check which discussion I was in... Generally aren't pics from future episodes considered a little spoilerish?

Luxe: I did a quick search and found this quote. There are others buried around but when people forget to change the subject line things get "lost" very fast.

"Il sont morts, ils sont tous morts" ---- they are dead, they are all dead...

"Venez nous aidez" ---- come to help us...

"Je vais essayer d'aller jusqu'au rocher noir" ---- I am trying to reach the black rock...

"Si qui que ce soit puisse entendre ceci" ---- If someone can hear this...

"Il les a tué... Il les a tué tous" ---- It(or he) kill them, it(he) kill them all

"Il est dehors, et Brendon a pris les clefs" ---- It's (or He's) outside, and Brennan took the keys...

Wasn't Boone sent to Australia to bring Shannon home?

This is a rather spoilish thread...

Those are sort of good points, just last night I was thinking that they were all brought onto the plane without their liking BASED on the thing that they lost (I was reading that other thread about them all losing something).

Jack lost his father and was going to bring his body/casket back.
Kate lost her freedom and was taken onto the plane by the US Marshal.
Rose lost her husband, who seemed to be the one that convinced her to come on (since she disliked flying or so it seemed).
Locke lost the ability to walk and go on the Walkabout thing so I'm guessing thats why he was going on the plane.

Not sure about the others quite yet though.
