This appears to be some kind of Fantasy Island/Survivor ripoff. This is almost too easy to see.
1. The "Lost" title does not refer to everyone being LOST on an island, but, "Lost" in society or some other sense of the word.
2. Everyone on the island is there for a reason. Think about it.
3.. The power source they are searching for is "Ricardo Montalban's" house/hideaway.
4. They will never see a monster because there is no monster.
5. Dude with scratch on eye did not see a monster, "Ricardo" gave the boar to him and probably gave him some kind of memory erase drug.
6. Black lady's husband in NOT dead. He is at home watching Monday Night Football.
7. Man that the doctor dude keeps seeing could be "Ricardo Montalban" or his father (or both!).
8. They don't show the airplane crash in the pilot episode because there is no crash!!!
9. I could go on for every person/couple on that show......

You can quit wasting your lives watching this show now, although, it is fairly entertaining. :hat

10. There is a giant dude named Tattoo running around in the jungle muttering "da plane....da plane, boss!".

:D

I'll believe LOST is a Fantasy Island rip off when I see the doorless cars....until then.....

I had that idea I think after the second episode, but you've got the wrong Fantasy Island.

This isn't Ricardo Montalban's sweet and funny Fantasy Island, oh no. This is Malcolm McDowell's eerie and spooky under the surface Fantasy Island.

But the guy in the suit can't be Mr. Roarke. He's not in white.

And even if that's it, I'll keep watching. I LOVED the second Fantasy Island! It got cancelled way too soon, and like this it just kept revealing agonizing mysterious details about the island and everyone's past bit by bit throughout all the episodes.

If the island is Fantasy Island, there's still several possibilities:

1. Is this *everyone's* fantasy? Did the travel agent save up 48 people who fantasized about being marooned on a desert island?

2. Is this just *one* person's fantasy (e.g. Locke), and everyone else is an actor employed by Fantasy Island?

3. Is this just *one* person's fantasy (e.g. Locke), and everyone else is an unwitting and unwilling participant in it?

4. Is this no-one's fantasy, the plane really did crash by accident on the island, and now the people are at the mercy of Mr. Roarke?

in the Matrix, and suit-and-tennis-shoes guy is "Mr. Smith". It's just that those shiny black dress shoes are useless on sand, you know?
