Please someone help my wife and I out with this. All we seem to recall is that Eko was going to go to London. Did he have a reason to be in Australia and traveling to the US? Was Eko ever shown in the airport in any flashback scenes? Any help would be a....ummm...help. Thanks!

I know he talked about heading to London. Maybe he was heading through LA to get there. Other than that, I don't know why he would be heading to LA.

yes we see him in the airport too the girl he was there to investigate comes to him with a message from yemi
In ? Eko was working as a priest in Australia, and during confession a guy passed him a forged passport for entry into the US (to LA, I guess). It was during the same time he was investigating that supposed miracle of the psychic's (the one Claire saw) daughter.
We saw Eko at the airport when he was picking up his tickets, and he also talked to the daughter who said she had spoken to Yemi.

They never mentioned why he was on the place to L.A though, I don't remember that at all. He was planning a trip to the states, unknown reasons?

Eko was working in Australia as a priest. There is a suggestion on these boards that he had travelled there in search of Yemi - but there was no confirmation of this on the show.
He was planning a trip to USA, with the knowledge of his church superiors, which had to be delayed in order for him to investigate the 'resurrection' of the psychic's daughter. The reason for this trip has again been speculated as a search for Yemi; but there's no confirmation.
Eko had at some time previously worked as a priest in London. He told an anecdote about a boy and a dog from this time.
Eko is seen at the airport when the psychic's daughter confronts him. Libby intervenes to ask if everything's okay.

Graham has it. I'll add that after his brother's death (around 2-3 years before the show is set) he took his post at the church in Nigeria for a week, then went to London in Yemi's place for further training.
How he got to Australia could be carefully conceived plan or mundane church posting. What he was planning to do in the US, and why he needed a forged passport to do it, was a question I'd hoped we'd be dealing with in flashback. *sigh*

He might have needed a new forged passport because his old forged passport had ceased to be useful to him. I am assuming he must have made a forged passport at some point prior to Australia because he assumed his brother's identity in all of the church related business and traveled quite a bit. Maybe he was planning on ditching the priest act when he got to the States and wanted a new identity.

Just because he's dead and gone, doesn't mean we'll never see him again in somebodies flashbacks!! :) Keep hope alive!

To add to this, the flashbacks are a little disconnected. He goes for Nigeria to England to Australia to (trying to get to) USA. All we know for certain is that after he assumed Yemi's postion, he went to London for some formal training.
The exact circumstances of him being in Australia is unknown. I highly doubt that he was sent there from London to investigate a "miracle". It is more likely that he was already there when the "miracle" happened and he was assigned to investigate it.
After that, there is the brief flashback of him getting a fake passport, but nothing else is known about what his motives where.

Since it was with the knowledge of the Monsignor, it is likely it was (superficially at least) on church business - although I suppose even priests have vacations.
In ? Eko talks about his 'trip' to America. That word makes me think of a temporary visit rather than a permanent relocation - he was expected back in Australia. Whether Eko expected to return is another question.

I think that we are not going to know much more about Eko and his wherabouts much more. It would be kind of contrived to see him in other flashbacks again, unless it is done in kind of a Boone way.
