Episode Description:

Jack makes a decision about Ben's offer, and Kate fears that Pickett may make good on his threat to kill Sawyer.

OK, that ending was amazing. Jack wasn't some love-lorn idiot, he actually had a plan! I loved the callback to the "Pilot," and that Kate has finally made up her mind! The cliffhanger was good, not what I was expecting, but I can't WAIT till Feburary.

I loved the way Juliet kept looking at him, wondering when/if he was going to pull something.

But he doesn't realize they're on a separate island. Where will they run? That's an AWESOME place for the cliffhanger, though.

Please, Kate. Just ONCE. ONCE! Don't let the bad guy get the drop on you.

If I was Pickett, I'd see it like this. Either Jack is successful, and they no longer need leverage (J&S) against him, or Jack isn't successful, and they no longer need leverage against him. Either way- Sawyer and Kate are expendable after the surgery.

Overall, I'm a little bit disappointed, as I had thought that the cliffhanger was going to have something to do with Penny :\

It was still a good episode, I enjoy flashbacks concerning Kate, and I really felt for her in this episode. I liked both the Skate and Jate scenes, but unfortunately, what some are saying on here is right: Where do they run? Jack unfortunately has no idea about the two islands, but luckily Sawyer does, and Sawyer is as smart as they come. To you ladies out there: If Sawyer knew about the two islands and wanted you to follow him when running, would you? I know I'd trust that man with my life, I would worry about being conned, but it's clear that Kate is more than a con to him. :)

Anywho, I'm still left hanging for more, and I'm looking forward to February. I'm wondering why Desmond attacks Charlie.

For those who want all the answers now? Well I guess you would stop watching then too, as who wants to watch a show with no more questions, just all answers? LOST would be a soap opera then, and I'm not really interested in that. I like the mysteries. Can't handle the mystery? Go back to watching Young and the Restless then. No offense, but honestly, if LOST answered everything, it'd be Twin Peaks. After everyone found out who killed Laura Palmer, the show went to crap because the question had been answered. Just my two cents.

Pickett left because all the focus would be on Ben's surgery and no one would be around to stop him from killing Sawyer. It didn't matter if Jack was successful or not.

Like I said at the start of the thread, I thought this was one of the greatest episodes ever. Now that the first six episodes are done, what do you guys think about Season 3 so far? So far, this season is a vast improvement over Season 2(which I loved alot). I don't know how it ranks with Season 1 though...I guess we will have to wait.

So, anyone else catch in Ben's promise to Jack, that Ben only promised Jack that he'd help Jack get off THIS island?

Seems like Ben's his usual conniving self. Had Jack gone through with the surgery, Ben could have just taken Jack off Alcatraz and back to Lostie's Island, and technically Ben's deal would have been fulfilled.

Of course, Jack decided to go rambo and thus changed everything.

I liked it too. I thought there was real psychological complexity. Jack, the saint, was now turning selfish as a spurned lover. Or was he . . ? It felt like the characters were in real pain. Best episode this season.

That said, there seems to be a real division among the people on this board as to what a good episode is.

Also, I think I cried a little at the would-be-execution scene. That was heartbreaking.

- I noticed that the voice that is heard on the Hydra loudspeakers is the very same one we heard in the Swan during the Lockdown and saying "SYSTEM FAILURE" :D

- It looked to me like there were some new shots on Ben's viewing room monitors. I will have them in my caps post tomorrow for sure. ;)

- why was Ben asking about Alex right before he went under the knife?

- JACOB'S LIST?? Who the heck is Jacob? "Shephard wasn't even on Jacob's List" is what Pickett says......

- the implications of what Jack did there at the end....I was truly SHOCKED. I didn't know he had it in him. I couldn't breathe, I was gripping my couch so hard my knuckles were white. That was some SERIOUSLY INTENSE FIERCENESS right there. :D

I'm not too pleased with this season; it's mediocre. Right now season 2 is my favorite, then Season 1, then what we have seen so far. This episode, like I said, felt like an awesome Season One classic. I loved it.

i dont really think any ofus are saying it was a bad episode. it was good. i think i actually stopped breathing during the last sawyer scene. i think what the reason we're complaining is that what with all of us being obsessive lost fans and the promise of the best episode ever, our expectations rose wayyy beyond anything it should be at. so when we realize theres no earth shattering thing that happens to make it the best episode so far, its natural to feel a tad disappointed. dont hate us :Hippy:

Some thoughts...

Michael Emerson always creeps me out, but tonight I felt like he looked a little like Christopher Walken, who is the ultimate in creepy.

I thought Kate's flashback cleverly showed two things we already knew about her, but didn't know were connected. During her game of I Never with Sawyer she said she's been married but "it didn't take". And she told Sun she had taken a pregnancy test. I never really thought about it, but if I had I would have thought those two things weren't related, but now we see they were.

When I first saw the Oceanic tickets, I thought it might be to Australia, I wasn't expecting a flight to Costa Rica.

While it was nice John wanted to bury the Jesus stick with Eko, that whole scene seemed kind of forced to me.

Some questions...

Who was on the intercom to Jack? It sounded a little like Alex to me, but I wasn't sure. It seemed a bit too convenient to me that he could get out and get a gun so easily, unless they wanted him to see Kate and Sawyer, which is more likely, IMO.

Who is Jacob? And how is his list different than the list Ms. Klugh gave to Michael? Or the list of the Talies? Could Jacob be eye patch guy?

I think this Jacob that made the list Pickett mentioned has to be someone who infiltrated the Losties camp either before Ethan was killed in concert with him or after Ethan was killed to replace him. He is most likely operating under an assumed name and is someone we have seen.

My guess is he is Paulo but who know.

I honestly think the intercom part was a setup by Benjamin and the Crew. Either probably Juliet or another Other was the voice on the intercom - no way their security is THAT lax.

I took this as Sawyer not being on the list. Since he was going to kill Sawyer and the other guy told him but Ben is in surgery and he said something about he's not on Jacobs list so we can kill him.
